Germany’S Foreign Policy And The Role Of German Minorities: Czechoslovakia, Hungary, And Poland 1919-1929, Frederick William Hollister

This work has tried to address the confusion concerning Germany and Eastern Europe. When Germany's foreign relations with three Eastern European countries are closely examined, it becomes clear that between 1919 and 1929 the treatment o f the German minorities in these countries had little or no effect Germany's foreign policy. In this thesis I adopted a comparative approach concerning the conditions under which the German communities lived in Poland, Hungary, and Czechoslovakia. I then examined Germany's relations with each of these countries. Based on that examination I looked for a correlation between the level of government oppression of the …

The term "generation gap" is usually used to describe a situation in which a division develops between generations. The tension results from one generation, usually the younger generation, possessing a set of values and beliefs that are consistently different from the values and beliefs of another generation, usually the older generation. A comparison of newspaper articles concerning both Hippies and Generation Xers was conducted to illustrate the contention that generational conflict occurs in a cyclical pattern with each successive generation. Several semesters ago I participated in a class on the art and archaeology of ancient Egypt. As an art history course it, focused on the images now available from that magnificent civilization. These images conveyed not only the incredible pomp and splendor afforded state religion and ceremony, but also whispered of the sweet joy abundant in private life as well. Flipping through my textbook early on in the semester, my attention was captured by an extraordinary example encompassing both "types" of images. Henry V is often remembered for his battles in France and as the heroic figure portrayed in Shakespeare's plays. Yet the golden hero of English history began his reign faced with domestic, religious, and political challenges. Henry IV's usurpation of the crown ushered in the fifteenth century, and his son recognized that the support of the church could help ensure the stability of the Lancastrian reign. Domestic turbulence was exacerbated by the growing development of a fairly new phenomenon in England: heresy. TILLIE'S CHRISTMAS: EXPOSITION OF A CHILDREN'S BOOK, by Jeanne Anderson. In preparation for writing the children's book, Tillie's Christmas, this study explores the craft of writing in general, as well as the process of writing children's books in particular. Since the resulting book intentionally reflects Christmas traditions as celebrated by second-generation German immigrants on the Iowa prairie in 1900, this paper researches those customs. To confirm the commonality of such ethnic experiences on the Iowa prairie in 1900, several interviews with second-generation German immigrants are included in the study.

In an effort to determine if media specialists can influence in a positive way the amount of leisure time reading elementary school students do, a study was designed which would test that hypothesis while involving students in two fourth grade classrooms, one of which was the control group and the other the experimental group. Specific activities such as booktalks, story and poetry breaks were performed only for the experimental group. This group also kept a list of books read in gaily decorated reading logs. Both groups kept a count of actual pages read, and actual books completed. Both groups were …
