This student-run weekly newspaper was known simply as R.I.S.D., or RISD Paper. The RISD Paper ran through the late 1960s and into the 1970s. The issue of November 24, 1969 included an article about the RISD presidential inauguration. Also there were articles about a meeting for ecology action in Rhode Island, an temporary emergency shelter at the RISD farm, and space concerns on campus. A recipe, art exhibitions and a calendar of events for RISD students was also included.

The purpose of this thesis is to provide the correct definition of “good.” By correct I mean the definition in accord with the way people actually use the word. The work is carried out along the lines of the approach used by recent British philosophers such as G. E. Moore, Stephen Toulmin, A. J. Ayer, and R. M. Hare. In the first chapter the subjectivist definition of “good” is examined and rejected as inadequate. The same process is followed for non-cognitivism in chapter two and intuitionism in chapter three. Logical atomism is Russell’s and early Wittgenstein’s view that world is composed of simple sensible, mutually independent atomic facts. Our everyday knowledge and statements of facts are vague. To clarify them we should analyze them till we reach unanalyzable, ultimate atomic facts based only on sense experience. An atomic fact is a particular having one character, or is two or more particulars in a relation. Only external relations hold among atomic acts. The issue of May 19-25, 1969 featured an article about the RISD Landscape Architecture department's study to save Block Island, RI. There also was an interview with John Torres about summer programs at RISD and at a school in Vermont, and an article about a RISD photo student who taught local pre-teens about photography. Also included was an article about the Rhode Island Art Festival and some RISD students who were volunteering their time to help.

The issue of May 12-18, 1969 included articles about Apparel Design's annual show Collection 1969, and an article about Man and his Technology, a seminar that was attended by 250 people. There was a brief article about racial troubles at Hope High School in Providence that was from a publication called EXTRA. Comics, ads, letters and art exhibits were also mentioned.

In recent years philosophers have been discussing the pros and cons of the "Identity Hypothesis" of Herbert Feig! (Feig!, 1958). The Identity Hypothesis holds that feelings, expressed or described in phenomenalist language, are identical to brain states as described by rapidly developing neural science. The discussions abound with Ockham's Razor, attacks on and defenses of emergentism, and appeals to Turing Machines as analogues (Hook, 1960).

The Monadology presents a hierarchy of monads varying in quality one from another. Certain of these monads are soul monads, which are dominant monads of men, either as souls or minds. This paper proposes to investigate the Rational Universe with emphasis on man as dominated by soul monad in the philosophy of Leibniz. In the Monadology Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz set down a concise statement of his metaphysical system, which was then and is now complete and consistent with his other writings to a higher degree than found in most philosophers. This thesis, submitted to Xavier University in partial fulfillment of requirements for a Master of Arts degree in 1969, examines Robert Browning's treatment of romantic love in his dramatic poems through the theoretical lens of elective affinities, which is a concept borrowed from chemistry and first applied to human relationships by Johann Wolfgang Goethe in his 1809 novel Wahlverwandtschaften (Elective Affinities). The study traces the origins of the chemical theory of elective affinities from seventeenth-century analytical chemists including Hermann Boerhaave and Torbern Bergmann through Goethe's literary application of the concept to four lovers whose passions operate as blind, irresistible forces …
