In a social conversation, words spoken carry less than 35% of the interaction’s social meeting, with 65% conveyed by the non-verbal. While poetry relies on the word and it's subtext, songwriting may also weld the other 65%. The Panther Marching Band is the largest student organization on campus and is an outward symbol of the University of Northern Iowa. The Panther Marching Band (PMB) recruits new students to participate throughout the year. Recruitment is necessary tool for the PMB to maintain student participation and encourage growth. This creative thesis entails the research, strategy, design, and revision of printed promotional materials for the Panther Marching Band. The purpose of this project is to provide high school-aged tuba students a brief resource for learning to double on the bass trombone. As will be discussed in the guidebook, there are a number of reasons that students could want to double: jazz band, pit orchestra, show choir band, classical concert ensemble, etc. No matter the reason a student may want to learn to double, I wanted to provide a guide that would hopefully make it more accessible for them to learn. To accomplish this, I have made the language digestible for high schoolers without too many technical terms.

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is a relationship between personal value preferences (PVPs) and burnout among music therapists. A total of 450 board-certified music therapists participated in this study. Four hundred and twenty-one participants finished the survey partially and completely, and were analyzed with regard to demographic information (gender identity, years of work, worksites, weekly work hours, annual salary range). Three hundred and forty-three participants who completed the Portrait Values Questionnaire (PVQ-RR), and Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS) were subjected to non-parametric and linear regression analyses.

Collectively, these songs are known as protest music. Protest music can act as a type of social commentary, expressing a wide range of emotions, and have a uniting element, calling leaders and groups to action for tangible results. This collection consists of catalogs, correspondence, clippings, administrative papers, and published materials that were either produced by Slingerland Drum Co. or were participated in by the Slingerland Drum Company from the late 1920s through 2003. The bulk of the materials are from the period of time immediately following the Slingerland family selling the company in 1970 until it was bought by Fred Gretsch in the late 1980s.
