RISD press was a student newspaper published weekly in the early 1970s, a self-described attempt at consolidating all the information outlets of the school, including the previous student newspapers, Montage. The issue of January 28, 1976 features an Illustration Review and also includes articles on faculty voting to restore the letter grading and GPA system at RISD, editorials and letters to the editor, event notices, and student board minutes.

Jack Kleinsinger Presents Highlights in Jazz
Jack Kleinsinger presents Highlights in Jazz. The concert was held at NYU Loeb Student Center, Eisner and Lubin Auditorium, Wednesday, January 7th, 1976 at 8:00pm in cooperation with the NYU program board. Jack served as producer and master of ceremonies for the monthly series of concerts. Artists for the concert include Bobby Hackett, Herb Hall, Vic Dickenson, Arvell Shaw, Oliver Jackson, Marty Napoleon, Brooks Kerr, Willis Conover and Mrs. Armstrong . Special guests: Doc Cheatham and Eubie Blake.

In an age and time when peculiarly "American" qualities are being
emphasized in connection with the U.S. Bicentennial, this program
illustrated the truth of John Donne's maxim, "no man is an island unto
himself." To say that each of the composers represented reflects
influences of forebears is by no means to say that they lack individuality.
Still, it is no injustice to point to the influence of Hindemith
upon Heiden, Copland upon Goeb, Schoenberg on Riegger, and early
twentieth century French music upon the quintet style of Carter. As
for Whear, though his piece reflects a less specific influence, it …

The Carter Family: Traditional Sources For Song, Margaret Bulger
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
The recorded repertory of the original Carter Family was analyzed for traditional influences. Of the 119 songs examined, it was found that fifty-five, roughly one-fourth of their total repertory, have definite roots in one or more traditional sources. The Carters employed traditional texts within their repertory throughout their professional career. Three genres of song were analyzed: sentimental songs, religious songs, and ballads. Of these, sentimental songs was the largest category with 113 songs. These songs were found to be remarkably similar in thematic content and moral sensibilities to Victorian parlor songs (ca. 1860-1910). The religious songs were shown to be …

A Study Of The Reliability Levels Of Student Trainees In The Evaluation Of Individual Junior High Lesson Playing, Robert Edwards

The purpose of the project was to determine if two Junior High band student trainees could accurately evaluate the performance of individual band students from a pre-selected method book. Band students would record specific musical exercises which were evaluated by two student trainees and the band director. The purpose of the project was to check the reliability between the student trainees and the director.
