Music Publishing In New Orleans In The Nineteenth Century, Peggy C. Boudreaux
LSU Historical Dissertations and Theses
New Orleans was, in the nineteenth century, a cultural center without equal in the South. As such it supported many businesses closely connected to music. This study is focused upon music publication in New Orleans in the nineteenth century. Included are a history of the major establishments operating throughout the century and a survey of extant music published by these firms. In Chapter I, are included introductory material and a brief survey of the major music publishers of New Orleans. Jack Kleinsinger presents Highlights in Jazz. The concert was held at NYU Loeb Student Center, Wednesday, June 15th, 1977 at 8:00pm in cooperation with NYU program board. Jack served as producer and master of ceremonies for the series of concerts. The issue of May 13, 1977 is a special issue focusing on major problems at RISD.
