Who Do I Say I Am: A Review Of Catholic Teachers’ Spiritual Identity And Factors Affecting Its Formation, Nancy Lourdes U. Toledo

Teachers in Catholic schools are not only required to provide quality education through mastering the essential skills of pedagogy; they are also called to “be a reflection, albeit imperfect but still vivid, of the one Teacher” (Gravissimum educationis, 1965, para. 23). Thus, the spiritual identity of all teachers in Catholic schools, not only those who teach religious education, must be integrated with their professional identity. This review draws from 20 empirical peer-reviewed articles on Catholic school educators to understand how Catholic teachers see their spiritual identity as teachers and how these spiritual identities are formed. From Principles To Implementation: Evaluating Social Justice And Inclusive Education In Holy Cross Elite Institutions Of Bangladesh, Md Shaikh Farid

Journal of Catholic Education

This paper examines how Catholic Social Teaching (CST), particularly its commitments to social justice and inclusive education, is interpreted and enacted by the Congregation of Holy Cross within three elite institutions in Bangladesh. Drawing on institutional documents and semistructured interviews with educators and administrators, it analyzes how Catholic educational ideals are negotiated within competitive urban contexts. The findings show that while Holy Cross institutions articulate strong commitments to human dignity, moral formation, and service to the poor, these values are expressed mainly through institutional culture and outreach initiatives rather than systematically embedded in admissions, academic structures, or governance. Language-Related Episodes In Individual Observations Versus Collaborative Interactions: The Case Of Advanced Learners Of Spanish, Emilia Alonso-Marks, Mariche G. Bayonas, Diana Marysol Contreras-Licea

International Journal of the Linguistic Association of the Southwest

The pandemic forced many students to complete tasks individually either at home or in virtual classrooms. This study compares individual task performance with small group collaborations in terms of Language-Related Episodes (LREs) and the honing of pronunciation. Two groups of advanced Spanish learners from India and the USA participated in the study. Results note that having more than one learner does not increase LRE productivity; individual learners produce more affective/metacognitive LREs; and linguistic forms focused on by individual learners are more memorable than those discussed collaboratively. Pedagogical recommendations are proposed for both types of learning scenarios.

Despite the proliferation and use of literary lenses in English Language Arts classrooms, one lens still seems to be missing from theorization, formulation, and thus practical implementation: religion. This absence is well-noted in the field, as positive depictions of Christian themes in books are rare and religion is rarely discussed as an identity marker that fosters growth and development. Mental health is vital to seminarians' holistic development, playing a crucial role in their personal growth and pastoral readiness. Equipping seminarians with mental health training enhances their human formation and addresses stigma, creating a foundation for more compassionate and effective ministry. The study utilized an explanatory research design with 11 college seminarians as the participants. The study reveals that mental health training significantly improved seminarians' knowledge, awareness, and beliefs, leading to a more supportive and informed approach to mental well-being. Seminarians transitioned from initial skepticism to active mental health advocacy, recognizing the importance of psychological support alongside spiritual care. The …

Self-Esteem Moderating Multiracial Identity And Social Anxiety In Asian Americans, Hoa Vo

This study examines the relationship between multiracial identity and social interaction anxiety among emerging Asian American adults. Specifically, it explores the moderating role of self-esteem and potential gender differences in these relationships. Multiple regression models and independent samples t-tests were used to analyze data from 139 multiracial individuals with Asian heritage (Mage = 19.95, 79.13% female) aged 18 to 29. The results indicated that while multiracial identity integration (MII) was positively associated with social interaction anxiety (SIAS; B = 0.843, p = .010), it was not significant and self-esteem (RES; B = 0.036, p = .899) did not significantly moderate …

For more than a decade the repeated use of conventional analytic thinking and linear strategic planning approaches produced little effective progress or solutions for the many ongoing and emerging problems of St. Laurentius Catholic School, a parish elementary school within the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Indeed, many in the community believed that their distressing pathway characterized by continued differing perceptions among stakeholders, resource limitations and lack of autonomy were leading the school to closure. Individual Or Shared Identity? Perceptions Of School Climate In Catholic Schools By Ethnic Background, Daniel Hamlin, Curt Adams

School climate has been routinely associated with positive student outcomes. Scholars have found that Catholic schools promote positive school climate by emphasizing shared identity and values. However, others argue that this approach serves the interests of dominant groups, producing poor school climates for minority students. To explore these claims, this study examined perceived school climate among students (n = 22,286) and parents (n = 12,997) in Catholic schools with different racial/ethnic compositions. Results indicated that students attending majority-minority (50%> and 90%>) and Hispanic-serving Catholic schools report similarly to their peers attending less diverse Catholic schools. In this dissertation, I used a phenomenological research design to explore how Black students make sense of their experiences with Youth Development Programs (YDPs)and how the program components contributed to their transition and success in postsecondary education. In this dissertation, I examined how dominant language ideologies in language politics and policy shape the professional identity development and pedagogical practices of five English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers in Burkina Faso. The study sought to understand how these ideologies influence teachers’ beliefs and perceptions of multilingual pedagogical approaches, as well as possible pathways for deconstructing them to promote student-centered practices. This chapter begins by defining UDL and explaining how it serves both as a guide for course design and a framework for documenting teaching excellence. These sections are organized around the three core UDL principles: multiple means of engagement, multiple means of representation, and multiple means of action/expression. The chapter then explores how each principle can be implemented in communication courses. Drawing from examples across face-to-face and asynchronous online formats, it demonstrates how UDL supports student success and fosters equity. Finally, it addresses implementation challenges and discusses the broader implications of UDL for rethinking effective student-centered pedagogy across disciplines.

This article suggests museum theory and practice needs to shift its ideological foundation from storage, preservation, restoration, exhibition making, and learning, to one of radical care. Responding to the questions posed by the Journal of Social Theory in Art Education and drawing focus around the theme of (re)activating theory to envision an alternative educational model, I engage with Dana Carlisle Kletchka’s (2023) introduction of care ethics to art museum education.
