This study aimed to identify the requirements for developing postgraduate programs at the College of Education, King Saud University, from the perspective of female faculty members. It also examined whether statistically significant differences existed in responses based on academic department and academic rank. A questionnaire was used as the primary data collection instrument and administered to 186 female faculty members—including professors, associate professors, and assistant professors—out of a total participants of 201. The findings indicated that all categories of development requirements were considered highly important. This study aimed to investigate the role of the "University Life Skills" course in developing and sustaining self-learning skills among female students at Taibah University, serving as a model for interdisciplinary social studies curricula aligned with the goals of sustainable social education. Employing a descriptive-analytical approach, an electronic questionnaire comprising 11 dimensions was administered to a purposive sample of 41 students. The results revealed a significantly high positive role of the course in fostering skill development and sustainability, with mean scores ranging from 4.17 to 4.55. The study aimed to identify the level of teaching performance among science teachers in light of fostering professional inclinations toward future careers among middle school female students. The study has explored how faculty members in the department of special education at Jouf University described their readiness to integrate generative artificial intelligence into postgraduate programs. The study examined their experiences and perceptions of the educational and research opportunities, challenges risks, and appropriate boundaries associated with academic use. A qualitative descriptive design was employed. The data were collected through completed semi-structured interviews with 13 members who had experience in postgraduate teaching or supervision and were analysed using the reflexive thematic analysis. This study examines how governance comes into practice across the officially available documentation of undergraduate translation programs at King Saud University (KSU) and Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University (IMSIU). The study employs a qualitative document analysis approach, focusing primarily on two core texts published by each university: the program specification and curriculum structure, with learning outcomes articulated within the course documentation. The study examines these documents to assess how the program aims, competency expectations, and curricular pathways are articulated. It aims to examine al-Dhahabī’s critical observations on Ibn ʿAdī’s evaluations of narrators, whether involving disparagement or accreditation. The phenomenon of (emotional aesthetic pleasure) in al-Rafi‘i’s masterpiece (Awraq Al-Ward) constitutes a distinctive artistic feature. This literary prose work is grounded in an affective structure in which emotion is transformed into a discursive mechanism that generates aesthetic pleasure and guides the reader’s response. This study aimed to identify the level of readiness among teachers who teach students with autism spectrum disorder in inclusive education programs in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and to examine how prior training, specialty (general vs. special education), and teaching experience influence this readiness. A descriptive survey design was used validated for reliability, was administered to 144 teachers (84 general education, 60 special education). Results indicated a high level of readiness among participants overall. This study aimed to translate and standardize the Compulsive Hoarding Disorder Scale and the Dark Future Scale for use in the Arabic framework, as well as to estimate the prevalence of hoarding behaviors. The study also assessed the effects of age, social status, and educational level on hoarding and dark future tendencies, in addition to exploring the relationships among these variables. The sample comprised of 303 participants (159 males, 52.5%; 144 females, 47.5%), with ages ranging from 16 to 65 years (M = 27.57, SD = 12.59). The study aimed to analyze the content of the science curriculum for the third intermediate grade in light of future thinking skills. The two textbooks in the 2025 science curriculum edition consisted of 12 chapters and 28 lessons. The study used a descriptive approach based on content analysis and developed an analytical instrument consisting of 32 indicators that were distributed across six core future thinking skills. These skills included prediction, problem-solving, visualization, anticipation, analysis of future situations, and future foresight. The present study investigates how the variation of speech rate affects the acoustic cues across stop-vowel sequences in Bisha dialect (BD), an Arabic dialect spoken in the southern region of Saudi Arabia. Applying an acoustic approach, the study examines segmental duration (closure and following vowel), fundamental frequency (f0 onset), and voice quality (H1-H2 onset) on target stops taken from a sample of thirty native speakers of BD. The acoustic measures are evaluated using linear mixed-effects and logistic regression models. Results demonstrate that fast rate leads to substantial temporal compression, including more shortening of the vowels relative to the stops. Fast …

The current research aimed to determine the extent of the "University Life Skills" course content's contribution to enhancing academic adjustment and self-confidence among students at the University of Hail. It utilized the Analytical Descriptive Method to achieve this objective. The research sample consists of (204) students enrolled in the course from six diverse colleges. The research results consistently confirmed that the course's contribution to both enhancing academic adjustment and developing self-confidence was perceived as high (mean scores: 2.57 and 2.60, respectively). Servingness On The Sidelines: Latina/O/X Athletic Administrators At Division I Hispanic-Serving Institutions, Guillermo Ortega
Journal of Issues in Intercollegiate Athletics
This qualitative study examines how servingness is understood and enacted within NCAA Division I athletic departments at Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs). Guided by Garcia et al.’s multidimensional servingness framework, the study draws on interviews with ten NCAA Division I Latina/o/x athletic administrators. Findings reveal that athletics is frequently disconnected from institutional HSI missions, with servingness often reduced to symbolic or performative practices. Limited Latina/o/x representation in athletic departments further constrains institutional capacity to serve. Despite structural exclusion, participants cultivate servingness through cultural affirmation and community building. Implications highlight the need to structurally integrate athletics into HSI missions and redistribute cultural labor.

Grief As A Constitutive Shadow Of Queer Joy: Reclaiming Negativity And The Ethics Of Staying For Education Research, Akira Sawata
Journal of Queer and Trans Studies in Education
In education scholarship, authors have increasingly called to center queer joy to disrupt the conventional deficit model that normally accompanies queer communities. However, in this paper, I argue that an exclusive emphasis on joy may risk instituting and normalizing a happiness duty that marginalizes negative affects and subjects. I propose queer grief not as an opposite, but as a constitutive shadow of joy. Drawing on theories of queer, trans, and crip negativity and the studies on loss, grief, and mourning, I critique the imperative to mobilize affect solely for future utility and teleological meaning. Translating literary works addressing sensitive issues such as domestic violence (DV) and psychological trauma requires careful strategies to preserve meaning, emotional nuances, and pragmatic effects in the target language. This study examines translation techniques, levels of meaning equivalence, and relevance in dialogues concerning domestic violence and personal trauma in Colleen Hoover's It Ends with Us and its Indonesian translation, Akhir Antara Kita. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, 451 dialogue segments were analyzed using the frameworks of Molina and Hurtado Albir (2002), Baker (1992), and Gutt (2010). This study examines the Perang Ketupat tradition in Tempilang Village, Bangka Belitung Province, Indonesia, as a form of cultural performance. It aims to analyze the tradition through five dimensions: ritual, performing arts, community participation, cultural education, and community-based safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage (ICH). Employing a qualitative approach based on performance ethnography, data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, document analysis, and a literature review during the 2024 Ketupat War Festival. In terms of anthropological linguistics, the study aims to explore the interaction of language, culture and cognitive tendencies in the community of Kajang. It particularly looks into the traditional oral expressions (kelong) of the community, including Kelong Basing Rikong, Lok-lok, and Ati-ati Raja, as their understandings of life, death, spirituality, and social values are expressed. A qualitative ethnolinguistic approach, informed by anthropological linguistics, was used in this study. Borneo combines exceptional biological diversity with cultural traditions that shape regional identity. This study aims to develop contemporary batik motifs based on selected biological references associated with Borneo and one Dayak cultural reference while documenting the visual transformation process as research knowledge. A practice-based research approach was employed through exploration, design development, realization, expert validation, and revision. This review discusses the tv show Pluribus as a contemporary television narrative that functions as an allegory for artificial intelligence and its implications for human meaning-making. Centering on Carol Sturka, one of thirteen individuals immune to a alien global virus that merges humanity into a cooperative “Hive Mind”, the series explores tensions between autonomy and collective well-being in a “peaceful apocalypse.” The analysis argues that the Hive Mind reflects key concerns surrounding AI, including the production of knowledge without understanding, personalization without discernment, and efficiency that bypasses the struggle through which meaning is formed. Examining Enrolment Patterns In French Electives At The University Of Botswana: Implications For Policy And Curriculum Development, Kagiso Jacob Sello

This study examines enrolment trends in French electives at University of Botswana (UB) to assess cross-disciplinary relevance, sustained student engagement, and implications for curriculum development and institutional internationalisation. Using a descriptive-analytical design, the study analysed institutional enrolment data from six consecutive semesters. Data were disaggregated by faculty and analysed using SPSS, guided by Student-Centred Curriculum theory and Interdisciplinary Learning principles. A total of 1,200 enrolments were recorded. The Faculty of Business accounted for the highest participation (48.6%), followed by Humanities (20.8%) and Social Sciences (14.9%).
