GENERALLY SPEAKING, spring is a non-political season. Certainly, with the snow and ice melting away, the winds of March rattling the windows, and the elm buds burgeoning against the blue sky, political practice and theory seem to belong somewhere else in time and space. But, the news constantly, forceably, shockingly thrusts politics into eye, heart, mind, and viscera every day, whether that news comes from Saigon, Selma, Topeka, or Washington. This item is part of the Transactions of the ADA, a serial publication of the annual activities of the ADA House of Delegates (HOD)/Board of Trustees (BOT). It is from the Transactions section, one of three subtitles that make up the full publication. Generally, the ADA Transactions are published in multiple volumes throughout the year. EVERY laborer, and particularly the editor of such a journal as THE MIDWEST QUARTERLY, is deserving of a little time off. Not only does he need to rest and recruit himself, but more importantly he needs that holiday of the spirit that comes with putting the old routine behind him and sallying into fresh fields, from which, hopefully, he will bring back a rich harvest.
