Betty Wiseman graduated from Belmont College and began teaching health and physical education in 1966. She was the founder and coach of the Belmont women’s basketball team, the Rebelettes (now Bruins), in 1968. At the time, it was one of the first women’s collegiate teams in the southeast. She was inducted into the Belmont Athletics Hall of Fame in 1981. She was also inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame in 2004. Wiseman coached the women’s team for 16 years (1968-1984) before moving into athletic administration at Belmont. She served as Assistant Athletics Director until her retirement in 2013. …

The RISD Rag was a student publication released in the spring of 1972, first on a monthly basis and later on a bi-weekly basis. The issue of January 1972 included an article about the local food co-ops, and the lack of diversity in the RISD faculty and at the RISD Museum. Support was wanted for farm workers and there was an appeal for a sick child. Voter registration information was listed for each state and parking ticket information for Providence was provided. This paper presents my views on the subject of shadow and its interpretative use as it may pertain to drawing. The factors upon which shadow is dependent are discussed as well as shadow as form and image.

Also discussed is the development of shadow as it became an important concept and reality to me and how it pertains to my drawings.

It has been recommended to further develop the use of shadow in my work as it relates to space and the illusion of space.

A Series Of Woven Wall Hangings, Patricia A. Ross

This paper presents an analysis of wall hangings as constructed in the discipline of weaving, an art-form. Since the artist-craftsman is concerned with aesthetic solution, the elements of structure, form, color, and texture are emphasized. Fundamental techniques, equipment, and materials used are discussed. Problems which evolved are identified; conclusions for modifying the problems are attempted. Colored pictures of the wall hangings are included.

This body of work serves as a basis for further experimentation and exploration of fabric construction on and off the loom.

Experiments In The Use Of Spontaneous Forms In A Series Of Mixed Media Paintings, James Delbert Williams

This series of paintings accomplished during 1970-1972 is on stretched butcher paper glued onto an 1/8" masonite board backed by 1 x 2 cedar. With the exception of spray paint, the pigments are water soluble with Elmers Glue used as an added binder. The purpose of this study was to develop a visual explanation of how accidental forms, colors, and textures can be related to conscious forms to form a complete and workable entity.

Many Strange Visual Effects Can Be Obtained By Overlapping Several Objects Containing Both Raised And Incised Shapes And Varying The Textures Of These Forms, Ruth F. Bravetti

This study deals with the printmaking technique of embossing to create visual effects with "non-associative" forms. The prints presented deal with the realm of space and an atmosphere unrelated to our present environment or concepts of gravity. Several visual conflicts were achieved by overlapping objects, creating textured surfaces, and varying thickness, size, location, and shape of forms. Serigraphy, spray paint, flocking, and reflective beads were introduced in some of the prints presented in order to enhance the effect of embossing.

For the viewer to become involved with transparent "non-associative" objects was the main objective. The technique was limited to embossing …
