The study includes the investigation of the number of possible professions in graphic design, definition of each specific profession, education and training necessary to qualify in each area, and a listing of further sources of information. The study also includes a series of creative visual illustrations to represent each area of graphic design.

Plactic is the material I chose to communicate my ideas. Named for its ability to be shaped, melted, bent, moulded, and extruded into an infinite number of forms, is one of two reasons I used it. The other is its concept is familiar to modern man and even a definition of him.

To make the communication bridge complete the stulptures are constructed to allow the viewer to take part in the final form. By moving the work, he is as involved in the concept, form, and material as I have been in making the piece.

Production And Utilization Of Millefiori, Terry Olson

This paper presents a step-by-step description of basic techniques used in making detailed hard edge color patterns in glass. Three techniques for producing Millefiori are presented, followed by a discussion of the procedures and equipment used to incorporate the cane into the final piece of glassware. In summation, I felt it necessary to add some personal views on the relationships between form and patterns.

This paper represents the study of Object Art and Environmental Art in Jewelry. By utilizing the media, the technology, the environmental objects of this culture, a series and study of Object Jewelry began.

This study was concerned with the non-functional aspects of Jewelry with emphasis on imagery, symbolism and technique.

Today, contemporary jewelry reflects ideas, moods, forms, and relationships of our cultural and technical environment. Movements in the field today are tending towards creating Object and Environmental Art, rather than pedestal art, which was predominant prior to 1960.

In the past the silkscreen stencil printing process was expensive and very complicated. Only industry could do it with any success. However, for precise work even industry would use decals because of fine details, simplicity and installation and economy. Recently, however, the situation has changed and new products have come to the market making photo-silkscreening on ceramics easy and fun.

The problem was the creation of ceramic sculpture. This was an area I had not explored very much. When I did explore the sculptural range of clay it was difficult to express myself. Slab construction was the first method of exploration into clay sculpture. With this method I could not acquire the shapes necessary in my sculptures. But this slab construction lead me into casting of objects. Airplane models were the final objects to be cast. Slabs of clay were pressed into these airplane casts. These airplane shapes were then assembled and fired in a kiln. To complete the sculpture …

This thesis presents a series of original jewelry and hand-held art objects which aesthetically relate to each other in a controlled gallery environment. The form of the objects is based on box-shapes, while the content comments on and pokes fun at our present society. The objects are made of various combinations of sterling silver, brass, copper, aluminum, plexiglass, fabric. and wood. Some of the objects use photographs from private and magazine sources. All of the objects are intended as Funk-art pieces.

In 1964 Harriet Frishmuth graciously presented her papers to Syracuse University for perpetual care, making them available for research by reputable scholars. The collection consists of professional correspondence, photographs of works, scrapbooks, memorabilia and plaster casts. Also in the collection is a series of tape recordings made in 1964 by Miss Frishmuth, in which she informally reminisces about he·r life and work and provides descriptions and comments relative to a few of her outstanding sculptures. This paper presents a series of ideas underlying the philosophy behind the creation of the author's works. The paper deals with the creator-viewer relationship, and the distinction that is commonly accepted as existing between the perception of the two, ascribing more value on the perception of one over that of the other. The conclusions were reached after acute observation of occurrences of everyday as a source of esthetic experience and after lengthy discussions with people involved in the creative process.
