Background: Following the 2019 NHS Long-Term Plan, link workers (LWs) have been employedacross primary care in England to deliver social prescribing (SP).Aim: To understand and explain how the LW role is being implemented in primary care in England.Design and setting: Realist evaluation undertaken in England.Method: Focused ethnographies around seven LWs from different parts of England. As part of this,we interviewed 61 patients and 93 professionals from healthcare and the voluntary, community andsocial enterprise (VCSE) sector. Despite success in treating some hematological malignancies, CAR-T cells have not yet produced similar outcomes in solid tumors due, in part, to the tumor microenvironment, poor persistence, and a paucity of suitable target antigens. Importantly, the impact of the CAR components on these challenges remains focused on the intracellular signaling and antigen-binding domains. In contrast, the flexible hinge and transmembrane domains have been commoditized and are the least studied components of the CAR. Here, we compared the hinge and transmembrane domains derived from either the CD8ɑ or CD28 molecule in identical GUCY2C-targeted third-generation designs for colorectal cancer. While these structural …

Community pharmacies have unparalleled potential to increase access to pre-exposure prophylaxis medications (PrEP) for HIV prevention; however, only 17 out of 50 states in the United States have statewide authority for pharmacists to provide PrEP at community pharmacies. Few studies have reported on how pharmacists overcome the legislative barrier and provide PrEP services in restrictive pharmacy prescription states. The objective of this article is to identify the existing primary literature describing pharmacist PrEP services in the community in states with restrictive prescription authority. Methods: A systemic literature review was conducted to identify the primary literature that involved community pharmacy service …

Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a rare genetic chronic condition leading to fragile bones and frequent bone fractures with wide-reaching health implications. Current literature suggests that children with chronic diseases face unique challenges at school, yet research regarding educational concerns among those with OI is limited. The present study involved qualitative analysis of semi-structured interviews with 10 children with OI and 12 caregivers of a child with OI. Children and caregivers participated in the interviews individually; they were not dyads of participants. Half of the caregivers who participated had OI themselves. The interviews were coded, and six themes were identified: (1) …

Many Parkinson’s disease (PD) models overexpress α-Synuclein using heterologous promoters, which is adequate to demonstrate that excessive α-Synuclein is toxic but not ideal for learning the precise ontogeny of the disease pathogenesis, specifically where the disease starts and how it progresses. To answer these questions, it is beneficial to generate a mouse model expressing a disease-causing mutation under the endogenous promoter. Here, we generated three Snca knock-in mice. Among them, homozygous SncaG51D mice develop motor deficits by 9 mo of age. These mice exhibit olfactory and gastrointestinal abnormalities by 6 mo. They lose dopaminergic neurons and have reduced dopamine …
