The American West is not just a geographical terrain but a mythical construct that occupies a powerful place in the popular imagination thanks to myriad literary and artistic works that have presented the region through specific archetypes emphasizing its vast ruggedness, white masculinity, and unique Americanness. In recent decades, revisionist scholarly and artistic works, however, have attempted to offer more nuanced perspectives on the region challenging its assumed homogenous history and fixed and stable identity. Through the case study of the mobile title Game of Sultans, this article examines the proliferation of iterative and copycat games through the practice of reskins in the mobile game industry. Based on year-long autoethnographic fieldwork working in a Chinese mobile game company, I provide an on-the-ground perspective of how Orientalist representations in reskinned games are instrumentalized through the roles of “cultural brokers” and the work of localization for Western markets. An increasing number of Latinx young people in the United States are facing unique challenges to attaining and maintaining well-being as residents of new Latinx destinations. This study analyzes the testimonios of 12 Latinx immigrant youth (aged 18–21) who participated in a digital narrative research project in New Orleans – a new Latinx destination in the US South. Findings are interpreted and discussed through the lens of the Phenomenological Variant of Ecological Systems Theory (PVEST), revealing Latinx young people’s perspectives on the barriers to experiencing well-being, the “bridges” that helped them to experience well-being despite those barriers, and the ways …

The COVID-19 pandemic of 2020 created a public health crisis that led to an unprecedented number of school closures. A major concern raised by child advocates, law enforcement, and social service providers was the possible increase in undetected child abuse and maltreatment. Undergirding this concern was the belief that this mitigation effort might place child abuse victims and offenders within proximity for extended periods of time. In this article, we analyze how a music genre is reciprocally defined online, through the crowdsourced ‘facts’ of Wikipedia. What are the traditional implicit and explicit exclusionary practices in this sort of genre formation? And how can internet-specific sociabilities create new exclusionary practices in the process of defining music? By analyzing the edit history of Wikipedia’s ‘hyperpop’ page, we locate ongoing debates, controversies, and contestations that point to shaping forces around online genre formation. Social Media Comments Of Top Athletes: A Gender Analysis, Madigan Mcgrath

Sports are fraught with gender inequality and sexism. This research focuses on differences in public opinion regarding top athletes' personal social media. The study investigates gender differences in topic, gender differences in tone, gender differences in platform, and differences in sports. Additionally, it aims to explore the tone and topics of comments on Instagram and X. Using the methodology of content analysis, this study will examine comment tone (e.g. negative, positive, or neutral), as well as whether the topic of comments is sports-related or gender-related. Findings provide insight into gender differences in the treatment of athletes in the digital sphere.

This study examines the perceptions, experiences, and motivations of TikTok content creators who actively create videos related to the topics and genre of anime. Specifically, this study aimed to examine the gratifications sought by TikTok’s anime creators, the platform-specific affordances offered to the anime creator, and the interplay between gratifications and affordances in affecting the themes of content produced by creators. A sample of 15 US participants who regularly create content in the anime fandom on TikTok were interviewed to better understand the central questions proposed. Proposed regulations for alcohol advertising prevent beverage companies from targeting people under the legal drinking age. However, similar regulations for alcohol alternative beverages are less explored, which could allow alcohol alternative products to create awareness for alcoholic beverages among youth. Alcohol alternatives beverages, including no-alcohol and low-alcohol products, are increasing in popularity and can function as compliments to alcoholic products to decrease the total alcohol volume consumed or as substitutes for alcoholic products. สมรรถนะพหุวัฒนธรรมเป็นหัวใจสำคัญสำหรับครูในการจัดการเรียนการสอนภายใต้บริบทของห้องเรียนที่ผู้เรียนมีความหลากหลายทางสังคมวัฒนธรรมที่แตกต่างกัน การวิจัยในครั้งนี้จึงมีวัตถุประสงค์ คือ 1) เพื่อวิเคราะห์และสังเคราะห์หลักสูตรครุศาสตรบัณฑิตเกี่ยวกับสภาพปัจจุบัน แนวโน้ม และทิศทางการส่งเสริมสมรรถนะพหุวัฒนธรรมในหลักสูตร 2) เพื่อวิเคราะห์และสังเคราะห์กระบวนการจัดการเรียนการสอนที่ส่งเสริมสมรรถนะพหุวัฒนธรรมด้วยวิธีการวิเคราะห์วาทกรรมพหุวัฒนธรรม และ 3) เพื่อจัดทำแนวทางการพัฒนาหลักสูตรครุศาสตรบัณฑิตที่มุ่งเน้นการส่งเสริมสมรรถนะพหุวัฒนธรรม การวิจัยแบ่งออกเป็น 3 ระยะ คือ ระยะที่ 1 เป็นการศึกษาสภาพทั่วไปและทิศทางของการส่งเสริมสมรรถนะพหุวัฒนธรรมในหลักสูตรผ่าน 3 ขั้นตอนหลัก คือ 1) วิเคราะห์สภาพทั่วไปของการส่งเสริมสมรรถนะพหุวัฒนธรรมจากเอกสารหลักสูตรครุศาสตร์ จำนวน 35 หลักสูตร 2) สังเคราะห์คุณลักษณะของตัวแทรกแซงที่มีประสิทธิภาพสำหรับการส่งเสริมคุณลักษณะพหุวัฒนธรรมของผู้เรียนระดับอุดมศึกษา จากบทความวิจัยทั้งในและต่างประเทศ จำนวน 18 บทความ และ 3) การวิเคราะห์แนวโน้มและทิศทางการส่งเสริมสมรรถนะพหุวัฒนธรรมในหลักสูตร จากการสัมภาษณ์ผู้เชี่ยวชาญ จำนวน 5 คน วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยการวิเคราะห์เนื้อหา ระยะที่ 2 เป็นการวิเคราะห์กระบวนการจัดการเรียนการสอนที่ส่งเสริมสมรรถนะพหุวัฒนธรรมเพื่อนำไปใช้เป็นหลักคิดในการจัดทำแนวทางการพัฒนาหลักสูตร ตัวอย่างวิจัยเป็นผู้ใช้หลักสูตรครุศาสตร์ จำนวน 61 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยเป็นแบบสัมภาษณ์กึ่งโครงสร้างซึ่งพัฒนามาจากข้อค้นพบที่ได้จากการวิจัยระยะที่ 1 เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลโดยใช้การสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก และวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยการวิเคราะห์วาทกรรมพหุวัฒนธรรม และระยะที่ 3 เป็นการจัดทำแนวทางการพัฒนาหลักสูตรเพื่อส่งเสริมสมรรถนะพหุวัฒนธรรมโดยสังเคราะห์มาจากข้อค้นพบที่ได้จากการวิจัย ซึ่งแนวทางการพัฒนาได้รับการวิพากษ์ความเป็นไปได้และประเมินความเหมาะสม จากผู้เชี่ยวชาญ จำนวน 5 คน วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้สถิติบรรยาย ผลการวิจัยที่สำคัญพบว่า 1. สภาพปัจจุบันของการส่งเสริมสมรรถนะพหุวัฒนธรรมในหลักสูตรครุศาสตร์มีการดำเนินการอย่างไม่เป็นระบบและขาดความชัดเจน หลักสูตรส่วนใหญ่เน้นการพัฒนาด้านวิชาการและเทคโนโลยีการศึกษา ถึงแม้ว่าคำสำคัญที่เกี่ยวข้องกับความหลากหลายทางวัฒนธรรมจะปรากฏอยู่บ้างในวัตถุประสงค์และผลลัพธ์การเรียนรู้ที่คาดหวังแต่ยังไม่ได้กำหนดให้ชัดเจน ประกอบกับการขาดกลไกสนับสนุนในเชิงระบบส่งผลให้การส่งเสริมสมรรถนะพหุวัฒนธรรมขึ้นอยู่กับความตื่นตัวของผู้สอนมากกว่าการถูกกำหนดให้เป็นองค์ประกอบหลักในระดับหลักสูตร 2. กระบวนการจัดการเรียนรู้ที่ส่งเสริมสมรรถนะพหุวัฒนธรรมที่ได้จากการวิเคราะห์วาทกรรมพหุวัฒนธรรม คือ 1) ควรมุ่งเน้นการสร้างเจตคติที่เปิดกว้างต่อความหลากหลาย พร้อมทั้งออกแบบระบบการเรียนรู้ให้เน้นการมีส่วนร่วม การลงมือปฏิบัติจริง และปลูกฝังสมรรถนะพหุวัฒนธรรมอย่างเป็นระบบในทุกช่วงชั้นปี 2) ควรออกแบบกระบวนการเรียนรู้ที่สัมพันธ์กับผลลัพธ์การเรียนรู้ด้วยกิจกรรมที่เน้นการแลกเปลี่ยนเชิงความแตกต่างทางวัฒนธรรม รวมถึงการออกแบบรายวิชาให้มีกิจกรรมกลุ่มที่คละพื้นฐานของนิสิตอย่างเป็นระบบ ตลอดจนจัดให้มีการเผชิญกับประสบการณ์ภาคสนามที่เน้นผู้เรียนจากหลากหลายวัฒนธรรมอย่างเป็นระบบ พร้อมด้วยกิจกรรมสะท้อนผลการเรียนรู้เพื่อยกระดับจากประสบการณ์ส่วนตัวสู่การตระหนักรู้ทางวิชาชีพ และ 3) พัฒนารูปแบบการประเมินผลที่ตอบสนองต่อกระบวนการปฏิสัมพันธ์ที่ตระหนักรู้ในความแตกต่างหลากหลาย 3. เอกสารแนวทางการพัฒนาหลักสูตรเพื่อส่งเสริมสมรรถนะพหุวัฒนธรรมที่พัฒนาขึ้นสามารถใช้เป็นสื่อกลางเชิงนโยบายและการปฏิบัติที่เชื่อมโยงระหว่างข้อเสนอเชิงวิชาการและแนวทางการพัฒนาที่สามารถประยุกต์ใช้ได้จริงในระดับสถาบันทั้งในด้านการออกแบบหลักสูตร การบูรณาการพัฒนาสมรรถนะพหุวัฒนธรรมผ่านเนื้อหารายวิชา วิธีการจัดการเรียนรู้ การประเมินผล ตลอดจนการใช้เป็นกรอบสำหรับการกำหนดทิศทางของนโยบายการผลิตครูที่ตอบสนองต่อสังคมพหุวัฒนธรรมในอนาคต

This article aims to explore the application of adaptive reuse as a tool for urban built heritage management through the study of five cases in the city of Singapore, Southeast Asia. This study focuses on the discourse battle on Facebook between two ideological perspectives on the existence of Sampradaya in Bali. Sampradaya refers to the Hindu spiritual community in Bali which has been adopting new traditions and practices from India since 1980. This paper examines the notion of mia farang amid the covid-19 pandemic. An analysis of mia farang YouTubers during this time reveals essential characteristics of the gendered and sexualized trope. Through Barker and Kuiper’s (2014) lens on the globalization process, we postulate that women’s voices during the peak of covid-19 became more political, namely with regard to their quality of life compared to that in Thailand.
