Every year children across the country mix up their best brew, hand-letter signs, and test their parents’ support levels by opening makeshift lemonade stands. During Entrepreneurship Week, USU students, armed with a grownup understanding of marketing, were given a chance to show off how they would make such a basic sales venture successful.

Influences On Student Attitudes: An Examination Of Ten Selected Influence Areas That Impact Community College Students’ Attitudes Towards Postsecondary Education And Student Outcomes, Luke A. Stobel
Department of Educational Administration: Dissertations, Theses, and Student Research
The purpose of this study was to examine different selected influence areas that may have an impact on a community college student’s attitudes towards their education. The study was first examined in relation to existing research regarding influences that can affect, positively or negatively, a student’s attitude towards education, the courses and type of institution that they select, and ultimately in their decision to pursue higher education in general. Ten different selected influence areas were chosen and aspects of each area were examined to provide insight into influences that may impact student attitudes towards education and ultimately student outcomes. Some …

Students working in the mentoring environment synthesized compounds and worked with separation and mass analyzer instruments. They learned how to make new compounds by organic synthesis and characterize their compounds by NMR and mass spectrometry. They also had the opportunity to work with other students who were working to apply their new compounds to chemical separations. They applied reactions they had learned in their courses. They learned to solve problems by finding new ways to synthesize or characterize their compounds. They learned to run, fix, and change settings on multifaceted instruments. They learned to trouble-shoot problems to solve instrumental errors. …

Clostridium acetobutylicum is a tricky little bacterium which can eat almost anything with carbohydrates and produce a fuel similar to ethanol. Recently, a researcher inserted its ability to make fuel into E. coli, a much more celebrated bacterium. Imagine how little Clostridium must have felt, having its only unique trait copied by the popular kid.

Trauma And Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder In Therapeutic Day School Students: Prevalence In This Population And Effective Treatment Programs, Monica Roberts
Dissertations
This survey-based, comparative study investigated the percentage of students at a suburban Chicago therapeutic day school who meet criteria for clinically significant levels of PTSD as compared to students in a general education setting. The directional hypothesis was that students placed at therapeutic day schools have a higher prevalence of PTSD than a general population of students. The method used was a survey assessment called the Child PTSD Symptom Scale (CPSS) given to 16 students at a suburban Chicago therapeutic day school. These CPSS scores were analyzed and statistically compared to CPSS scores of an already published study with students …

Predictors Of Perfectionism In Latter-Day Saint Students, Preston V. Tenney
Predictors Of Perfectionism In Latter-Day Saint Students, Preston V. Tenney
Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of the present study was to gain insight into the prevalence, nature and etiology of perfectionism in a sample of devout Latter-day Saint college students at Brigham Young University. A number of variables-including self-conscious emotions, mental health, interpersonal/cognitive style, and religious orientation-were entered into multiple regression models to determine the strongest predictors of perfectionism. Participants were 245 students studying at Brigham Young University in Provo, UT in the spring of 1995. The self-conscious construct of shame demonstrated to be the strongest predictor of perfectionism followed by depression and religious fundamentalism. In addition to these findings, it was found …
