This study examined four issues regarding a specific intervention process, Creative Problem Solving for GeneralEducation Intervention Teams (CPS for GEI): (a) whether students referred to the CPS for GEI teams process progressed differently based on student outcomes relative to the area of concern; (b) whether the overall quality of the action plans differed across schools; (c) whether there was a difference in student outcomes across …

An Examination Of Therapist Characteristics Related To A Beneficial Therapeutic Relationship: The Trainee Characteristics Inventory, Kristoffer S. Schnur

All-Inclusive List of Electronic Theses and Dissertations

It is now a widely held belief that psychotherapy is effective. In fact, teasing out the exact components is a difficult task. Recent research indicates that therapist characteristics are highly correlated with the ability to form a beneficial working alliance; however, understanding the exact nature of these characteristics is under-studied. Thus, the purpose of this study is to develop an empirical instrument that identifies and measures therapist characteristics related to the formation of a beneficial working alliance. Developing a more thorough understanding of the characteristics is critical since the relationship has been shown to be a robust predictor of clinical …

In order to assess the approaches that programs currently adopt to address impairment and self-care, this study extended and updated previous research. Factors That Influence The Decisions Parents Make When Choosing A Secondary School For Their Children, Rosemary Cahill Jan 2009

Factors That Influence The Decisions Parents Make When Choosing A Secondary School For Their Children, Rosemary Cahill

Theses: Doctorates and Masters

The impetus for this portfolio is the accelerating drift of Australian school students from state-run, free government schools to fee-paying independent and/or Catholic schools within the non-government sector. Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) data show that between 1996 and 2006, student enrolments in non-government schools grew by 21.5% compared with 1.2% in government schools (Australian Bureau of Statistics [ABS], 2007). In this portfolio, a sociological lens reflective of the pragmatic paradigm is applied to the question of school choice in order to understand parents' thinking behind the choices they are making and, moving forward, how the funding and governance of …

The subjects were homogenous in many of their answers even though there were particular questions that evoked a wide disparity of answers. The particular …

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

The historical perspective of schools in our democratic society provides a framework of tension between local parent and community control versus professional and state control of public school decisions. Today, federal and state requirements demand increased student achievement. The state of Utah requires each public school to have a school community council (SCC) that is responsible for the development of plans for school improvement. Limited funds are provided to each school community council through the School LAND Trust Program to assist in the implementation of the developed plans for the purpose of increased student achievement. Three Utah middlelevel school community …
