The Affect Of Diversity And Ethical Principles In Primary And Secondary Educational Leadership: A Hermeneutical Phenomenology Study, Charles P. Holloway Jr.
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The purpose of this hermeneutical phenomenological study was to understand the experiences of diversity and ethical principles in educational leadership for teachers, administrators, and classified licensed professionals within minority school districts. Downton’s (2016) theory on transformational leadership guided this study's theoretical framework for the research and ensuing findings. This research was created to answer the following central question: What are the perceived effects of diversity and ethical principles on teachers, administrators, and classified licensed professionals within minority school districts? Three sub-questions were used to understand the experiences of diversity and ethical principles in educational leadership within minority school districts. The …

Identifying School-Wide Inequities: Action Research Conducted Using An Equity Audit To Inform Annual School Planning For A Pre-K–8 School, Janine Casella
Theses and Dissertations
This action research study aims to identify and address equity gaps within a PK-8 New Jersey school by leading a professional learning community (PLC). The study will use action research methods to conduct an educational equity audit, which will inform the annual school plan and create a leadership action plan to stimulate organizational change. Traditionally, teachers at the research site have used Data-Driven Decision Making (DDDM) cycles, but this study will integrate Critical Data-Driven Decision Making (CDDDM) cycles, including an equity audit analyzed in PLCs. The audit will identify patterns of inequity and identify strategies to address them. The study …

Some business leaders in medium-sized manufacturing companies operating in Canada do not understand the relationship between leadership style, leader change attitude, and economic sustainability. Grounded in transformational leadership theory, the purpose of this quantitative correlation study was to examine the relationship between a composite of transformational leadership attributes and the long-term economic sustainability of their respective organization. Additionally, the study sought to test whether leader change attitude was a moderating variable in the relationship between leadership style and economic sustainability. The participants were 160 leaders of medium-sized manufacturing organizations operating in Canada who completed the Multifaceted Leadership Questionnaire, the Leader …

Examining Turnover Intent Among Young Federal Employees: Organizational Support, Satisfaction, Psychological Safety, And Burnout Interplay, Lyndsey Tuft
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
This study examined factors influencing turnover intentions among federal employees under 40 years old, focusing on perceived organizational support, employee satisfaction, psychological safety, and burnout. The theory that grounded this study included the organizational support theory. Structural equation modeling was applied to archival 2022 Office of Personnel Management’s Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey data. Key results revealed strong positive associations between perceived organizational support and employee satisfaction, with both factors significantly negatively related to turnover intentions. Psychological safety and burnout showed statistically significant but small moderation effects, limited by model fit issues and multicollinearity. Unexpectedly, burnout positively associated with employee satisfaction …

Law Enforcement Executive Selection Process In North Texas, Herbert Robert Ashford
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Poor community–police relationships impact both communities and police because the community may feel unfairly targeted for enforcement. This qualitative study investigated what attributes are essential to executive law enforcement success. The theoretical framework was the person-organization fit theory as it applies to public service motivation. Data were collected from chief law enforcement executives and their direct reports from eight municipal law enforcement agencies in the Dallas County area of the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington Metropolitan Area through an open-ended qualitative questionnaire; the sample population consisted of 19 police executives. The Individual’S Perception Of Ai And Its Effects On The Organization’S Ai Initiatives, Catherine Petersen
The Individual’S Perception Of Ai And Its Effects On The Organization’S Ai Initiatives, Catherine Petersen
JWU Dissertations & Theses
Investment in Artificial Intelligence (AI) does not result in returns for business despite improving technology (Ransbotham et al., 2020; Storm & Borgman, 2020). This study investigated one potential reason for the failure of AI when implemented within an organization with the intent to drive success with this technology. AI is unique amongst technologies due to its ability to inspire emotions from potential users and these emotions can affect the individual’s willingness to adopt the technology. The research questions were:
1. Does an individual’s perception of AI have a moderating effect on their behavioral intention to use a product that includes …

Extending Behavioral Theory Of The Firm To New Ventures: Dispositional Optimism As A Moderating Influence On New Product Introductions In High Tech Ventures, R. Isil Yavuz, Dev K. Dutta, Mehmet A. Soytas
Management Department Faculty Journal Articles
Extant literature has typically drawn from the behavioral theory of the firm (BTOF) to examine new product introductions in the context of well-established companies. This paper extends the behavioral theory of the firm to entrepreneurial firms and argues that jointly considering founders' dispositional optimism together with the performance feedback promises to yield a better understanding of new product introductions in new ventures. We analyze a longitudinal dataset on the activities of 344 newly founded high technology ventures in the United States. The key insight of our study is that when BTOF is applied to the context of nascent, entrepreneurial ventures, …

Applying A Tri-Learner Model Of Extension Collaboration: Local-State-Campus Partnership, Shannon Lipscomb, Barbara Bromley Brody, Megan Pratt, Toiresa Frazier
Journal of Extension
The Tri-Learner model of Extension Collaboration offers an innovative approach to address community needs and advance research by convening faculty from academic research, statewide Extension, and community-embedded Extension. This article describes development of a new Tri-Learner Model through an early childhood resilience project, with data from 32 participants. We present four key factors for the model’s success: First, ensure that research and application are responsive to community needs rather than University-driven. Second, establish trusting, reciprocal relationships. Third, equally value each team member’s knowledge and skills. Finally, leverage collaborative University structures and/or funding to foster reciprocal partnerships to maximize research impacts.

Theoretical Foundations Of Governance And Executive Compensation In Bay Area Benefit Corporations, Thomas Brown
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Profit maximation has largely prevailed as the foundation for corporate mission and the design of executive compensation structures. More recently, with the combination of profit and non-profit paradigms within a single hybrid entity, these lines are blurred when the stakeholder perspective and dual mission are incorporated. The purpose of this study was to examine the alignment between executive compensation metrics and dual mission and the governance structures and corporate perspectives implicit in the process of establishing and monitoring executive performance. Elements of stakeholder theory, shared value, behavioral agency theory, and goal framing theory were foundational to research and development of …

Principals Leading Change Toward Anti-Racist, Equitable Schools, Carolyn Fitzpatrick
Doctorate in Education
In 2020, the coronavirus pandemic and the murder of George Floyd sparked a review of racial inequities in the United States of America. To achieve such transformation, organizational change was required. This qualitative study intended to understand the leadership of six principals committed to anti-racist, equitable education while responding to resistance.

In Pursuit Of Racial Equity: The Role Of Women Presidents And Senior Leadership Teams In Higher Education, Lisa Castillo Richmond
Dissertations
Colleges and universities are of the place and time in which they exist, reflecting the prevailing racial, income, and wealth inequities across society. As a result, the history of higher education in the United States tells both a story of opportunity and advancement, as well as one of exclusion, separation, and inequality. The expansion of access over time has also been accompanied by racial and socioeconomic stratification by institution type and disparities in college completion rates (Carnevale & Strohl, 2013; Fry, 2013). Today, issues of racial and socioeconomic equity continue to pose significant barriers for students. Additionally, women remain stubbornly …
