Neutrosophic Sets and Systems

Cardiac arrhythmias are cardiovascular conditions caused by irregularities in the formation or transmission of electrical impulses. To identify these arrhythmias and determine their origin, an electrocardiogram (ECG) is used, which graphically records the electrical activity responsible for each heartbeat over a short period. This analysis can reveal stochastic changes, introducing a degree of uncertainty. To detect these changes, neutrosophic control charts provide an appropriate statistical tool to assess the stability of the ECG, anticipate potential heart failures, reduce variability in measurements, and, in some cases, make predictions. The results indicate that the proposed model is highly accurate in detecting and …

A Liquid Crystal-Based Biomaterial Platform For Rapid Sensing Of Heat Stress Using Machine Learning, Prateek Verma, Elizabeth Adeogun, Elizabeth S. Greene, Sami Dridi, Ukash Nakarmi, Karthik Nayani

Poultry Science Faculty Publications and Presentations

Novel biomaterials that bridge the knowledge gap in coupling molecular/protein signatures of disease/stress with rapid readouts are a critical need of society. One such scenario is an imbalance between bodily heat production and heat dissipation which leads to heat stress in organisms. In addition to diminished animal well-being, heat stress is detrimental to the poultry industry as poultry entails fast growth and high yields, resulting in greater metabolic activity and higher body heat production. When stressed, cells overexpress heat shock proteins (such as HSP70, a well-established intracellular stress indicator) and may undergo changes in their mechanical properties. Liquid crystals (LCs, …

ABCD longitudinally tracks 11,868 participants aged 9-10 years from 21 sites using standardized protocols for multi-site MRI data collection and analysis. While the multi-site and multi-scanner study design enhances the robustness and generalizability of analysis results, it may also introduce nonbiological variances including scanner-related variations, subject motion, and deviations from protocols. ABCD imaging data were collected biennially within a period of ongoing maturation in cortical thickness and integrity of cerebral white matter. These changes can bias the classical test-retest methodologies, such as intraclass correlation …

Learning Problems Related To Stochastic Differential Equations, Jinpu Zhou Nov 2024

Learning Problems Related To Stochastic Differential Equations, Jinpu Zhou

LSU Doctoral Dissertations

Stochastic differential equations (SDEs) are essential for modeling systems influenced by both deterministic dynamics and random fluctuations, with applications in a wide variety of disciplines. This thesis develops a Bayesian framework for nonparametric learning in SDEs, addressing key challenges in inference, particularly when dealing with complex systems and incomplete data. The thesis begins by establishing a theoretical foundation in optimization over Hilbert spaces, including a generalized representer theorem to address infinite-dimensional optimization problems encountered in nonparametric inference. Building on this, we introduce a Bayesian framework with shrinkage priors to learn drift functions from high-frequency data. Bayesian approach incorporates low-cost sparse …

Autonomous Coalition Formation For Energy Trading In Intelligent Grid Systems, Issiac Baca

Electrical and Computer Engineering ETDs

This paper introduces an interactive model and architectural framework for a smart grid system, emphasizing the prosumers dual roles as energy buyers and sellers within localized energy trading markets, i.e., coalitions. Initially, the utilities of both buyers and sellers are formulated to capture the benefits derived from their energy-related activities. Then, the paper presents the Approximate SMARTFORM (ASMARTFORM) mechanism, based on the principles of matching theory, to enhance the prosumers engagement in coalitions by addressing externalities influencing their decisions. To further improve the coalition formation process, the Accurate SMARTFORM (AccSMARTFORM) mechanism is formulated based on the theory of coalition games, …
