The effect of sintering temperature on the characteristics of sodium lithium titanate (NaLiTi3O7/NaLTO) synthesized at different solid-state reaction temperature and its performance as lithium-ion battery anode has been investigated. The precursors for the synthesis consisted of LiOH.H2O, TiO2, and NaHCO3. The synthesis was performed via solid-state reaction method. The precursors were mixed and sintered at variation temperatures of 900oC, 1000oC, and 1100oC for 2 hours under atmosphere condition. Growing food autonomously on Mars is challenging due to the Martian soil's low nutrient content and high salinity. Understanding how plants adapt and evaluating their nutritional attributes are pivotal for sustained Mars missions. This research delves into the regeneration, stress tolerance, and dietary metrics of sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) across different Mars Global Simulant (MGS-1) concentrations (0, 25, 50, and 75%). In our greenhouse experiment, 75% MGS-1 concentration significantly inhibited sweet potato growth, storage root biomass, and chlorophyll content. This concentration also elevated the plant tissues' H2O2, proline, and ascorbic acid levels. Higher MGS-1 exposures (50 and 75%) …

Heat transfer enhancement could be realized using magnetohydrodynamics together with nanofluids specifically in flow micro-convection in a microtube, flow past a vertical porous plate, and square duct flow with discrete heat sources numerically. A critical value for the Rayleigh number, a maximum value for the magnetic field strength, a low Reynolds number, and volume concentrations exists for thermal enhancement to simulate nanofluid flow in a microtube. Heat transfer enhancement is observed with a reduction in the magnetic field strength in a flow past a heated porous vertical plate. Energy consumption in buildings is a crucial concern globally, prompting researchers to explore innovative solutions to mitigate its impact. This study investigates the optimization of building envelopes and roof shading systems of existing buildings in Indonesia to realize notable energy savings. Multiple scenarios were explored, with modifications to building envelopes and roof shading, highlighting the overall thermal transfer value as a key parameter. Using EnergyPlus simulations, the efficacy of natural ventilation in corridors and roof shading modifications was assessed in reducing energy consumption. High unpredictability has emerged as a dimension of early-life adversity that may contribute to a host of deleterious consequences later in life. Early-life unpredictability affects development of limbic and reward circuits in both rodents and humans, with a potential to increase sensitivity to stressors and mood symptoms later in life. Here, we examined the extent to which unpredictability during childhood was associated with changes in mood symptoms (anhedonia and general depression) after two adult life stressors, combat deployment and civilian reintegration, which were assessed ten years apart. Extant literature highlights the importance of ethical fundraising, exacerbated by recent increased public attention and media criticism. Arguably this increased attention calls for a deeper examination and understanding of the types of moral scenarios and dilemmas fundraisers encounter. How did France’s refusal to take part in the war on Iraq in 2003 has created the conditions that legitimizes its future military interventions abroad? In this paper, a discourse analysis of the official French Foreign Policy Discourse is done to show why saying no to war in 2003 paradoxically allows France to carry out military interventions in 2015. The direct anticoagulants (DOACs), apixaban and rivaroxaban, are used for extended-phase treatment of venous thromboembolism (VTE) and have labeling for dose reduction for this indication. The objective of this study was to better understand primary care clinician prescribing patterns of apixaban and rivaroxaban for extended-phase anticoagulation. We conducted a 21-question survey targeting members of the American College of Physicians and United States Veterans Administration anticoagulation management services. Survey questions covered prescribing behaviors for dose reduction of apixaban and rivaroxaban for extended VTE treatment, as well as questions related to the respondent's practice setting. In the past decade state-of-the-art deep learning models have shown impressive performance in many computer vision tasks by learning from large and diverse image datasets. Most of these datasets consist of web-scraped image collections. This approach, however, makes it very challenging to obtain desirable data such as multiple views of the same object, 3D geometric information, or camera parameters for a large-scale image dataset. In this paper, we propose a 3D-scanned multi-view 2D image dataset of fine-grained category instances with accurate camera calibration parameters. The purpose of this study was to identify whether athletic scholarships play a role in academic success by determining if there was a difference in academic performance between male and female athletic scholarship student-athletes and non-athletic scholarship student-athletes as measured by cumulative collegiate GPA. A secondary purpose of the study was to compare male and female athletic scholarship student-athletes and non-athletic scholarship student-athletes as measured by cumulative collegiate GPA. The purpose of this study was to explore Division III athletic administrator perceptions of organizational values through a lens of core value culturalization literature. Survey methodology was utilized to garner responses from 192 Division III head athletic directors [n = 75] and lower level (senior, associate, or assistant) athletic directors [n = 117]. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of relationship quality and calculative commitment on sport consumers’ game attendance, donation intentions, and customer referral in the context of intercollegiate athletics. Relationship quality was operationalized as a higher-order construct containing trust, satisfaction, and affective commitment (De Wulf, Odekerken-Schröder, & Iacobucci, 2001). Calculative commitment, on the other hand, was conceptualized as a cost-induced commitment between relationship partners (Geyskens, Steenkamp, Scheer, & Kumar, 1996). Perceptions Of Justice Within Intercollegiate Athletics Among Current And Former Athletes, Melanie Sartore-Baldwin, Stacy Warner

Journal of Issues in Intercollegiate Athletics

The topic of social justice within intercollegiate sport has focused primarily on administrator perceptions. To better understand the athletes’ perspective and the impact of athletic identity on social justice, 166 current and former NCAA athletes participated in a survey related to their perceptions of inequities during their collegiate athletic experiences. Results indicated that although no significant difference existed between current and former athletes and their levels of athletic identity, former athletes were more likely to perceive inequities. Thus, the data suggests that a shift in perspective, unrelated to athletic identity, may occur once an athlete leaves college. The results further …

The purpose of this research was to investigate variables that predict success in the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Directors’ Cup. The NACDA Directors’ Cup awards points to institutions based on national place finish in a variety of sports. Point totals from the 2006-07 NACDA Directors’ Cup, along with Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA) data were collected for statistical analysis. Results indicated differences among variables predicting success among all NCAA divisions as well as the NAIA. University presidents and athletic directors can use this data when making tough decisions about resource allocation.

Gendered leadership stereotypes are possibly one of women’s largest barriers to attaining leadership positions in sport organizations. While much research is available to address the decline of women in leadership positions in intercollegiate athletics, situational cues have largely been ignored. Two samples were collected using student-athletes and non student- athletes to test the hypotheses constructed from previous research on situational cues and gendered leadership stereotypes. The Academic Progress Rate (APR) was created in 2004 to measure the real-time academic culture of NCAA Division I college athletic teams. During its short existence, the APR has become one of the leading academic metrics from which teams are evaluated. Given the lack of empirical data on APR, the purpose of this study was to determine if selected variables were correlated with, and were significant predictors of, single year APR scores. Private consumption benefits arise when the cost an individual is willing to pay to attend a sporting event is greater than the actual cost incurred by the individual. The impact of identifying with one's organization has been linked positively with commitment (Carmelli, Gillat, & Weisberg, 2006) and social capital (Carmelli, 2007). These impacts are also connected with perceptions of external prestige (e.g. Carmelli et al., 2006).
