Mothers Of Children With Dyslexia Share The Protection, “In-Betweenness,” And The Battle Of Living With A Reading Disability: A Feminist Autoethnography, Christine Woodcock Jun 2020

Mothers Of Children With Dyslexia Share The Protection, “In-Betweenness,” And The Battle Of Living With A Reading Disability: A Feminist Autoethnography, Christine Woodcock

The Qualitative Report

In order to shed personalized light upon some of the confusions surrounding dyslexia, this study draws upon critical disability studies to share the stories of mothers of children with dyslexia. This feminist autoethnography shares the voice of the researcher alongside interviews with 5 participants, all mothers of children with dyslexia, who were in their 40s, and ethnically and socioeconomically diverse. Using interpretative phenomenological analysis, results illustrated that the children inhabited an “in-betweenness” in their disability, in the ways dyslexia was less visual and therefore misunderstood. Likewise, the children presented a great deal of resistance in their learning, which was later …

Hyaluronic Acid Coated Targeted Lipid Micellar Nanoparticle As A Delivery Vehicle For Lapatinib And Ketoconazole In Egfr Mutated Lung Cancer, Nadia Tasnim Ahmed Jun 2020

Hyaluronic Acid Coated Targeted Lipid Micellar Nanoparticle As A Delivery Vehicle For Lapatinib And Ketoconazole In Egfr Mutated Lung Cancer, Nadia Tasnim Ahmed

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Background: According to the American Cancer Society, lung cancer was accountable for over 142,000 deaths in the USA in 2019. Common mutations related to lung cancer mainly occur in TP53, EGFR, and KRAS genes. Lapatinib is a small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor which acts reversibly on both epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2). Overexpression of EGFR leads to increased production and signaling of proteins that cause upregulation of cellular proliferation, cholesterol synthesis and resistance to apoptosis. Ketoconazole is an imidazole antifungal agent which works principally by inhibiting the enzyme cytochrome P450 14α-demethylase (CYP51A1) …

Fuzzy Synergetic Control Nonlinear Dynamic Objects, Isomiddin Sidikov, Noilakhon Yakubova, Komil Usmanov, Saparbay Kazakhbayev

Karakalpak Scientific Journal

The article deals with the synthesis of effective algorithms for controlling a chemical reactor and developed a fuzzy synergistic controller for a class of indefinite nonlinear dynamic systems. A synergetic control scheme is proposed for solving the control problem for nonlinear systems. Non-linear systems with configurations and parameters that change over time require a completely non-linear model and adaptive control scheme for a practical operating environment. The synthesis of control laws is performed by the method of analytical design of aggregated controllers (ACAR). Fuzzy logic systems are used to evaluate the unknown nonlinear behavior of the system, and a new …

Alterations In The Ribosomal Protein Bl12 Of E. Coli Affecting The Initiation, Elongation And Termination Of Protein Synthesis, Adam D. Younkin, Steven T. Gregory, Michael O'Connor Jun 2020

Alterations In The Ribosomal Protein Bl12 Of E. Coli Affecting The Initiation, Elongation And Termination Of Protein Synthesis, Adam D. Younkin, Steven T. Gregory, Michael O'Connor

Cell and Molecular Biology Faculty Publications

In bacteria, ribosomal protein bL12 forms the prominent stalk structure on the ribosome and binds to multiple, distinct translational GTPase factors during the sequential steps of translation. Using a genetic selection in E. coli for altered readthrough of UGA stop codons, we have isolated seven different mutations affecting the C-terminal domain of the protein that forms the interaction surface with translation factors. Analysis of these altered proteins, along with four additional alterations previously shown to affect IF2-ribosome interactions, indicates that multiple steps of translation are affected, consistent with bL12’s interaction with multiple factors. Surprisingly, deletion of the release factor GTPase, …

Psychological And Neurobiological Mechanisms Underlying The Decline Of Maternal Behavior, Ming Li Jun 2020

Psychological And Neurobiological Mechanisms Underlying The Decline Of Maternal Behavior, Ming Li

Department of Psychology: Faculty Publications

The maternal behavior decline is important for the normal development of the young and the wellbeing of the mother. This paper reviews limited research on the factors and mechanisms involved in the rat maternal behavior decline and proposes a multi-level model. Framed in the parent-offspring conflict theory (an ultimate cause) and the approach-withdrawal model (a proximate cause), the maternal behavior decline is viewed as an active and effortful process, reflecting the dynamic interplay between the mother and her offspring. It is instigated by the waning of maternal motivation, coupled with the increased maternal aversion by the mother in responding to …

Life History Variation In Two Populations Of California Newt, Taricha Torosa, Michael P. Marchetti, Abigail Hayes

Western North American Naturalist

California Newts (Taricha torosa) are common amphibians throughout much of California, yet their life history has been little studied. We examined T. torosa in 2 physically separated breeding locations, a farm pond and a nearby stream, between February and June 2015. We synoptically collected physical measurements on adults as well as tissue samples from a subset of the newts present in both locations throughout the time period. Stable isotopes of carbon and nitrogen were used to characterize the trophic niche space among newts of different locations and ages. Our results suggest differentiated breeding phenologies as well as unique …
