Study Of Cell Charging Effects For The Neutron Electric Dipole Moment Experiment At Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Mark Broering
Study Of Cell Charging Effects For The Neutron Electric Dipole Moment Experiment At Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Mark Broering
Theses and Dissertations--Physics and Astronomy
The neutron electric dipole moment (nEDM) collaboration at the Spallation Neutron Source plans to use ultra-cold neutrons in superfluid helium to improve the nEDM limit by about two orders of magnitude. In this apparatus, neutrons are stored in poly(methyl methacrylate), PMMA, cells located in a strong, stable electric field. This electric field is produced by high voltage electrodes located outside of the neutron cells. Several sources generate charged particles inside the neutron cells. The electric field pulls these charges farther apart, attracting each to the oppositely charged electrode. As the charges build up on the cells walls, they create an …

The recent advances in communication and mobile technologies made it easier to access and share information for most people worldwide. Among the most powerful information spreading platforms are the Online Social Networks (OSN)s that allow Internet-connected users to share different information such as instant messages, tweets, photos, and videos. Adding to that many governmental and private institutions use the OSNs such as Twitter for official announcements. Consequently, there is a tremendous need to provide the required level of security for OSN users. However, there are many challenges due …

The Impact Of Stem Workforce, Gross Capital Formation, Government Budget In Scientific Research And Development, Patent On Invention, Foreign Direct Investment And Global Competitiveness Rank Of The Nation On Thailand Gdp During 2009 And 2018, Piyapat Rujiphoch
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Developing human capital, fundamentally in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), is perceived as crucial growth engine among emerging economies for encouraging R&D and escalating the third world economy status and developing nations out of the “middle income trap. Nevertheless, it is obscure whether what the Government view on investing intensively on STEM-related factors to drive the economy is sufficient. Rather than merely invest in human capital in STEM education, a number of domestic investment, the Government spending on Science and technology, invention patent, Foreign Direct Investment, and Thai global competitiveness rank should also be embraced and taken in to …

Arbitrage Profit From Pairwise Correlation: Evidence From Thailand, Salinporn Dachasiriprapha
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
This paper aims to examine the usefulness of the Dynamic Conditional Correlation in the aspect of pair trade. Since one of the challenges in the pair trading is pair formation, this research would like to fulfill and find a new method for pair formation. Also, not only find the effective way to form pair we also examine whether this strategy can generate an abnormal return by constructs the portfolio where short one stock and long another one, by this investor can enjoy a 2-way price spread. The finding in this suggests that first by using Dynamic Conditional Correlation to form …
Demographic, Macroeconomic And Institutional Determinants Of Life Insurance Consumption: Evidence From Countries In Asia, Pattha Yodseranee
Demographic, Macroeconomic And Institutional Determinants Of Life Insurance Consumption: Evidence From Countries In Asia, Pattha Yodseranee
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Objective of this paper is to examine the determinants of life insurance consumption in terms of demographic, macroeconomic and institutional conditions from 26 countries from Asia covering the period of 1980 to 2019. The variables including 4 demographic variables, 7 macroeconomic variables and 3 institutional variables are explored by fixed effect estimation. The study also further examines difference of impact in different countries characteristic, that divided into Muslim, High-income and High-aged dependency ratio countries. The findings show that life insurance consumption have significant positive relationship with life expectancy. For high-income country, found that the Aged dependency ratio had less impact …
Option Pricing Using Local Volatility Function: How To Specify Its Knots?, Wisuth Raweerojthanatt
Option Pricing Using Local Volatility Function: How To Specify Its Knots?, Wisuth Raweerojthanatt
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
European options of an asset are priced following a continuous 1-factor diffusion model and the generalized Black-Scholes equation. Volatility knots are determined by many specifications that are the number and the location of knots at any stock price and time to expiration. Considering the volatility knots as a set of decision variables, we can approximate the local volatility function with a bicubic spline function to compute option values fitted to a finite set of market data by solving a constrained nonlinear optimization problem. With the real market data of SET50 Index options, pricing accuracy of different knots’ specifications are demonstrated. …
