The note argues that parental Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) can cause significant, yet often invisible, emotional harm to children, comparable to physical abuse. It advocates for legal intervention to address this form of maltreatment, emphasizing the need for systemic changes to detect and remedy emotional abuse caused by NPD, while respecting parental rights and privacy.

The lived and collegiate experiences of adult learners, who are among the fastest growing student population in 21st century higher education, is the essence of this study. The study was conducted using interpretative phenomenological analysis. Fifteen baccalaureate level degree-seeking study participants consented to share their respective journeys. In this study, the main focus was on cytokine factors evaluation of Avicennia marina (AM extract) in primary dermal papilla cells (DPCs) from AGA patients and the efficacy in vivo. © 2018 Zachary Y. Mngo and Agnes Y. Mngo. The opinions of general education secondary school teachers in seven select schools involved in a pilot inclusive education program in the Northwest Region of Cameroon were sought. The findings reveal that most teachers in Cameroon still prefer separate special education institutions to inclusive ones. These conclusions contradict earlier research which showed that resistance to integrated classrooms was emanating from beliefs and customs. Teachers with some training on teaching students with disabilities and more experienced and highly educated teachers were more supportive of inclusive education indicating that resistance to the practice is …

This essay first examines the Tinker case and reminds readers of the powerful language Justice Fortas used in his majority opinion. It explains that the test from Tinker was designed to be a speech-protective standard for student litigants. The second part of the essay evaluates several recent cases, which demonstrate that the once speech-protective standard in Tinker has become a test that is often favorable and deferential to school officials embroiled in student, free-speech controversies.

The well-being of faculty is susceptible to influence from intrinsic and extrinsic occupational characteristics. Heterosexism or hostile environments can be associated with decreased satisfaction amongst sexual minorities. As such, this transcendental phenomenology examined perceptions from tenured lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) faculty of their workplace conditions. Eight participants reflected on experiences from within higher education, academic settings. This study purposefully probed how sexual orientation and sexual minority status impacted their overall job satisfaction. Through providing context for social interactions in a traditionally heteronormative environment, cultural and attributional behaviors associated with affecting LGBTQ faculty in higher education was analyzed. …

The argument against enforcing boilerplate contracts (contracts that no one reads) seems clear. Indeed, if this were a court case we would say that the jury is in; the evidence against boilerplate is overwhelming. Yet the judge has yet to render judgment. Courts continue to enforce boilerplate terms, and even those scholars who have exposed boilerplate as an emperor with no clothes are reluctant to gaze upon its nakedness and condemn its use.

This reluctance originates in an assumption that pervades the boilerplate debate—namely, that courts and commentators alike view boilerplate as necessary to the modern transaction. When asked to …

Some believe that there is a Platonic ideal of jurisdiction that cannot be changed by judicial or legislative fiat. Others take a positivist approach and assert that jurisdiction is nothing more than whatever a legislature says it is. Who is right?

This Article proposes and applies a “conscious disregard” test for resolving the upcoming appellate litigation that involves the conflict between federal authority over the electric grid and state laws providing subsidies to nuclear power plants in the form of “zero emissions credits” (ZECs). This test draws upon principles of conflict preemption, as elaborated in three recent Supreme Court decisions on the intersection of state and federal jurisdiction over the electric grid under the Federal Power Act. For more than a century, legal scholars have looked to the 1866 Civil Rights Act for clues regarding the original meaning of the Fourteenth Amendment. Because the 1866 version of the Act protected only citizens of the United States, most scholars believe that the Act should be used as a guide to understanding the Fourteenth Amendment’s citizenship-based Privileges or Immunities Clause. A close look at the original sources, however, reveals that the 1866 Civil Rights Act protected rights then associated with the requirements of due process. The U.S. legal system gives contracting parties significant freedom to customize the procedures that will govern their future disputes. With forum selection clauses, parties can decide where they will litigate future disputes. With fee-shifting provisions, they can choose who will pay for these suits. And with arbitration clauses, they can make upfront decisions to opt out of the traditional legal system altogether. Parties can also waive their right to appeal, their right to a jury trial, and their right to file a class action. Bespoke procedure, in other words, is commonplace in the United States.

Justice Neil Gorsuch’s Supreme Court confirmation process exacerbated the striking divisiveness, rampant partisanship, and stunning paybacks that have systematically plagued the federal judicial selection process. The Senate basically ended any true debate when the Republican majority peremptorily detonated the “nuclear option” for Supreme Court nominees. This measure limited filibusters regarding all judicial nominees, allowing a simple majority ballot to confirm a nominee. Mango (Mangifera indicia L.) is a popular tropical fruit which has a great value in both domestic and international markets. Mango is a climacteric fruit which ethylene production increases dramatically, thus leading to a quick ripening process and a short postharvest life. Polyamines (PAs) have been reported to be involved in fruit ripening. Changes in endogenous free polyamines accumulation were measured in two mango cultivars; ‘Nam Dok Mai No.4’ and ‘Nam Dok Mai Si Tong’. Mangoes were allowed to ripen at 25±1 ºC after harvest. The IKK-NF-κB signaling cascade is one of the crucial responsive mechanisms in inflammatory and immune responses. The key kinase proteins called inhibitor of kappa B kinases (IKKs) serve as the core elements involved in cascade activation. Here, the complete open reading frames of IKK homologs including PmIKKβ, PmIKKε1 and PmIKKε2, from the black tiger shrimp Penaeus monodon were identified and characterized for their functions in shrimp antiviral responses. The PmIKK transcripts were widely expressed in various examined tissues and the PmIKKε protein was detected in all three types of shrimp hemocytes. Genotype-phenotype correlation has some discrepancies which lead to the difficult prediction of the clinical outcome of OI patients. We identified a child with dentinogenesis imperfecta (DI) and OI who was homozygous for c.1009G>A (p.G337S) mutation in COL1A2. Her parents were heterozygous for the mutation and had only DI. Human topoisomerase IIα (hTopoIIα) and Epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase (EGFR-TK) are proteins that play important roles on cell cycle. The hTopoIIα catalyzes the cleavage and rejoining of double-stranded DNA while EGFR function on cell signaling. Thus, the two proteins have been suggested as molecular target for the development of novel cancer therapeutics. A series of 47 chalcone derivatives was screened against hTopoIIα and EGFR-TK by in silico and in vitro techniques. Spent green tea leaves (SGTL) are a major contributor to the high cost of commercial tea products because of the large amount of leftover and the cost of disposal. This research investigates on the solvent and time for the extraction of SGTL that provides good yield of potential compound and to separate bioactive compounds as enrich-fractions and pure compounds. The obtained fractions were evaluated for antioxidant, antityrosinase, anticholinesterase and plant growth regulator activities. Caffeine was found in all samples.
