1,12-Dodecanedioic acid (DDA) is a primary compound which is used as an intermediate precursor for production of valuable chemical products. Biosynthesis of 1,12-DDA by recombinant (r) microorganisms can be used as an alternative method to compensate several disadvantages from chemical synthesis. The purpose of this study was to clone a CYP52A17 from Candida tropicalis to produce cytochrome P450 which can terminally oxidize fatty acids to hydroxy-fatty acids and further to dicarboxylic acids (ω-oxidation). The business of multi-level marketing is prohibited in Myanmar under the Notification no 46/2018. There are not only three paragraphs but also lack of the definition of MLM in this Notification. If distributors sell any product through MLM in Myanmar, they will be punished with imprisonment for a term exceeding three years under section 5 of the Myanmar Essential Goods and Services Law 2012. The most up-to-date account of the Athyriaceae is in Flora of Thailand. This account includes seven genera, i.e. Athyrium, Anisocampium, Cornopteris, Deparia, Diplazium, Hypodematium and Kuniwatsukia. Previously, the taxonomic relationships among genera were ambiguous and not well understood. The existing keys and descriptions are uncertain and do not include some unknown taxa. This research aims to clarify the taxonomic status of this family and its genera based on morphological, anatomical, palynological and molecular data. This study aims to synthesize the production of biodiesel (oleic acid methyl ester) by esterification in the presence of sulfonated hydrothermal carbon based catalyst under microwave irradiation. The catalyst was prepared by hydrothermal carbonization, followed by sulfonation presenting sulfonic acid group as an active site. The catalyst characterization results confirmed good microwave-absorptivity of the catalyst which can be heated directly and accelerate the reaction immediately at the surface of the catalyst. This thesis presents an efficient numerical technique capable of handling the stress analysis of three-dimensional cracked bodies strengthened or repaired by adhesively bonded patches. The proposed technique is implemented within the framework of the coupling of the weakly singular boundary integral equation method and the standard finite element procedure. The former is applied to efficiently treat the elastic body containing cracks whereas the latter is adopted to handle both the adhesive layers and the patches. This thesis presents an efficient and accurate numerical technique for determining mechanical response of a two-dimensional, infinite, elastic, layered medium under arbitrary surface loading and surface stress effects. Governing equations of a generic bulk layer are formulated from the classical linear elasticity theory via a SBFE technique whereas those of the generic material surface are obtained from a full version of Gurtin-Murdoch surface elasticity theory. This dissertation presents poroelastodynamic fundamental solutions of transversely isotropic poroelastic materials. Analytical general solutions for transversely isotropic poroelastic media under time-harmonic loading are derived for plane strain and axisymmetric problems by applying Fourier and Hankel integral transforms respectively. The fundamental solutions for a homogeneous half-space are then explicitly obtained by solving relevant boundary value-problems based on the derived general solutions. An exact stiffness matrix method is also employed based on the present general solutions to determine the fundamental solutions corresponding to multi-layered transversely isotropic poroelastic media. Platinum-based chemotherapy is the first line chemotherapy regimen for epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). Pharmacogenomics is one factor that might affect its efficacy and toxicity. This cohort study was aimed to investigate the association between ERCC1, XRCC1 and GSTP1 polymorphisms on clinical responses and adverse events related to platinum-based chemotherapy in Thai EOC patients. Fifty-two patients with advanced EOC were enrolled in this cohort study. The mean age was 55.7 years old. Genotyping analysis of ERCC1 (C>A, rs3212986), XRCC1 (A>G, rs25487) and GSTP (A>G, rs1695) were performed which allele frequencies were found at 35.6%, 28.9% and 10.6%, respectively. …

Vietnam, like many developing countries, is undergoing a rapid pace of population ageing but within a resource limited context. Therefore, understanding the factors that are important to later life well-being has become a key policy issue. Using data from the 2011 Vietnam National Aging Survey, this thesis aims to investigate gender differences in the direct and indirect impacts of education on subjective well-being of older Vietnamese based on four domains: happiness, life satisfaction, loneliness, and depression (N=2,789, including 1,683 females and 1,106 males). This study assessed the effects of blood contamination on the chemical composition and ion release of calcium silicate-based materials. ProRoot MTA (WMTA), Biodentine and TotalFill BC RRM putty (TRRM) were investigated. Materials were exposed to blood (blood-contaminated condition) or normal saline (non-blood-contaminated condition) for 24 hours. Three samples of each group were analysed for chemical composition using X-ray diffractometer and an energy-dispersive X-ray spectoscope with a scanning electron microscope after immersed in phosphate-buffered saline for 1, 7, 14 and 28 days. This thesis aims to examine how contemporary indigenous writers reclaim their self-definition through the born-within, region-based perspectives in three novels: Leslie Marmon Silko's Ceremony (1977), Patricia Grace' Potiki (1986), and Kiana Davenport's Shark Dialogues (1998). It propounds that the three novels employ indigenous myths, knowledge, and epistemologies to present their modern indigenous culture, history and identity as distinct from mainstream Western stereotypical perceptions. By injecting water with very low salinity compared to formation water in the reservoir, the method changes equilibrium between rock surface, oil and surrounding water, causing wettability alteration through Multi-component Ion Exchange (MIE) mechanism. Background: Poststroke depression occurred about 30% during the first five years after stroke. Timely diagnosis and management could facilitate motor recovery and improve independence. The Patient Health Questionnaire 9 (PHQ-9) is one of the best screening tools for poststroke depression. Accurate hotel daily occupancy forecasting is an important input for hotel revenue management. This research presents forecasting models both time series and causal methods for a case study 4-star hotel in Phuket, Thailand. Holt-Winters, Box-Jenkins, Box-Cox transformation, ARMA errors, trend and multiple seasonal patterns (BATS), Trigonometric BATS (TBATS), back-propagation Neural Network (BPNN), and Support Vector Regression (SVR) are explored in this work, where Same Day Last Year is considered as benchmark forecast.
