Hepatitis E virus (HEV) infection affects approximately 20 million individuals and results in more than 50,000 deaths each year. The highest prevalence is in Asia where contaminated food and water are often the sources of infection. There was the difference among the genotype of human Hepatitis E virus which genotype 1 to 4 can infect human. HEV genotypes 1 and 2 are found only in humans and are responsible for viral hepatitis outbreaks, while genotypes 3 and 4 are zoonotic. Rat model was used in this study in order to investigate subcellular vitamin D receptors (VDR) distribution and mitogen activated protein kinase (MAPK) alteration in the lungs of emphysema development after cigarette smoke exposure for 7 days (acute) and 14 days (subacute). Platelet demand has been increased around the world resulting from many factors including the rise of aging population, hematological malignancy incidence, and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. In addition, inadequacy of donors or matched donors, time consuming, cost, the risk of transfusion-transmitted infections and transfusion-associated reactions, and platelet transfusion refractoriness are limits of this approach. CaCO3 NPs has received a growing interest due to its potential properties as a safe drug carrier. The LA-CaCO3 NPs were synthesized by a chemical precipitation method and characterized using transmission electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and zeta potential measurement. We used LA-CaCO3 NPs to evaluate their therapeutic effects in lipid accumulation, lipolysis, adipogenesis, and adipokines expression in ADSCs and differentiated adipocytes. The average particle sizes were observed to be 10-20 nanometers. Thermogravimetric analysis results confirmed the percentages of LA in CaCO3 NPs. The zeta potential showed a negative charge -30.9 mV. To investigate the effects of genistein on estrogen deficiency with high-fat high-fructose (HFHF) diet-induced NASH rats. Female Sprague-Dawley rats (n=48) were randomly divided into ovariectomized (OVX) and non-ovariectomized (non-OVX) group. Both rat groups, further allocated into 3 subgroups; controls, rats fed with HFHF diet (NASH), and rats fed with HFHF diet plus daily 16 mg/kg BW of genistein (NASH+Gen) for 8 weeks. Green microalgae are one of the natural resources for productions of various and beneficial bioactive compounds, such as UV-screening compounds and carotenoids. This study focuses on the changes of carotenoids and metabolisms in the green microalga Chlorococcum sp. 8367RE under stress conditions. The results showed that stresses by salt, light, drought, and nitrogen starvation affected on alterations of morphological characteristics. Interestingly, size of cells culturing under salt stresses dramatically increased. It should be noted that KCl stress caused the enlargement of cell sizes approximately 5 folds. The construct definition and content domains of the TMIS were developed through the intensive literature reviews and test the content validity by experts. The aim of this study was to test the effect of the Uncertainty Management Program (UMP) on quality of life among Vietnamese women at 3-weeks post mastectomy. The quasi-experimental design with posttest only was conducted in 115 women with post mastectomy who were assigned in experimental group (n=57) and control group (n=58). The experimental group received the UMP and routine care while the control group received only routine care. Participants were assessed at 3-weeks post mastectomy using the modified Quality of Life Index Scale Vietnamese version with Cronbach's alpha coefficient of .81. Mannan in the outermost layer of Candida cell wall may be the first molecules that interact with host dendritic cells (DCs) and activate immune responses that determine disease outcomes. However, little is known how different mannan structures of common Candida species affect DC activation and T cell responses. Thus, this work compared the effects of mannans of Candida albicans, Candida tropicalis, Candida glabrata, Candida krusei, Candida parapsilosis and Candida dubliniensis on bone marrow-derived DC (BMDC) responses in mice. In this dissertation, electrochemical sensors for determination of medical biomolecular markers and food colorants were developed. The research can be divided into two parts. In the first part, electrochemical sensors for determination of clinically important biomarkers were studied. There was two subprojects based on the target markers. The functional surfactants, as the additional additives in the standard glycol-based lubricant were studied and optimized to reduce and protect the surface of the magnetic read/write head from deposited contaminants during the lapping processes. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS) results identified that the black contamination was bismuth (Bi) particles, came out from lapping plate during the lapping process due to wear. Selected surfactants exhibited the results in reduce and prevent the deposition of contaminants by forming the micelle beyond their critical micelle concentration (CMC) values. Two hundred and thirty-eight strains of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) isolated from several plant-materials and fermented food products collected in Thailand were screening for antibacterial activity. Fifty-three strains which exhibited antimicrobial activity against Helicobacter pylori clinical strains, were selected and identified based on the phenotypic, chemotaxonomic characteristics and 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis.
