The study explores the nuances of students' knowledge, self-assurance, and difficulties when navigating the domains of numeracy and logical-mathematical reasoning by evaluating and comparing the levels of mathematical literacy, numeracy, and logical-mathematical thinking among higher-education students. This research uses a thorough survey covering various mathematical literacy dimensions, such as the capacity to apply mathematical ideas in practical contexts, comprehension of numeracy and literacy, assurance when working with numerical data, and the influence of emotional variables on rational thought. Our analysis, based on replies from graduate and undergraduate students at renowned Indonesian universities, shows that self-assessed competency is generally moderate to …

Identification Of Green Competency Needs In Vocational Education Curriculum Development Based On Simple Additive Weighting, Muh Abdul Latif, Isma Widiaty, Ade Gafar Abdullah

Jurnal Pendidikan: Teori, Penelitian, dan Pengembangan

Global environmental sustainability issues have driven the transformation of vocational education to integrate green competencies that are relevant to the needs of the green industry. This study aims to identify the need for green competencies in the development of vocational education curriculum using the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method. This method helps in decision making from various different perspectives (such as teachers, students and industry) so that it needs to be generalized. This SAW method produces a ranking of competency elements based on the level of importance as a recommendation in developing a vocational education curriculum based on green competencies …

Formulation And In Vitro Evaluation Of Kaffir Lime Fruit Peel Extract-Containing Gel For Sunscreen, Antioxidant, And Moisturizing Activity, Farida Lanawati Darsono, Lisa Soegianto

Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research

Kaffir lime peel waste (Citrus hystrix) has antioxidant effects that have the potential to protect the skin from exposure to UV-A and UV-B rays, as well as moisturize the skin. This study aims to determine the effect of increasing the concentration of condensed extract of kaffir lime fruit peel on its effectiveness as an antioxidant, sunscreen activity, and moisturizer. The condensed extract was obtained by maceration using 96% ethanol. In this study, we tested hydrophilic gels consisting of 4 extract concentrations in their formula: F1 (7.5%), F2 (10%), F3 (15%), and F4 (20%). The research phase begins with …

Congresos y Conferencias

The rapid digital transformation in education has exacerbated persistent gaps in accessibility, inclusion, and engagement, particularly within STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines. A critical disconnect exists between the ubiquitous use of digital tools and the comprehension of their underlying principles. This research addresses this gap by developing and studying innovative, hands-on pedagogical strategies designed to democratize technological knowledge. Our project is centered on the design, implementation, and analysis of "The Island of Automatic Sounds" (LISA.26), an artistic sound installation conceived as an interactive "musical island." This environment enables children and families to explore and cocreate music through bodily …

Use And Reporting Of Intervention Mapping For Adaptation: A Systematic Review Protocol, Eunyoung Kang, Hugo R Sánchez-Blas, Elizabeth O Obekpa, Maria E Fernandez Nov 2025

Use And Reporting Of Intervention Mapping For Adaptation: A Systematic Review Protocol, Eunyoung Kang, Hugo R Sánchez-Blas, Elizabeth O Obekpa, Maria E Fernandez

Faculty, Staff and Student Publications

Introduction: Intervention adaptation is likely to occur to some extent when implementing interventions in new implementation contexts. Using systematic frameworks can guide intentional and effective adaptation processes. Intervention Mapping for Adaptation (IM-ADAPT) is a framework that offers step-by-step guidance for systematic, theory-based intervention adaptation. Despite the increasing use of IM-ADAPT, there is limited understanding of the contexts in which it has been applied and how effectively it is used and reported. Addressing this knowledge gap can improve current adaptation practices and inform future enhancements of the IM-ADAPT framework and the broader science of intervention adaptation. This review aims to (1) …

Social Determinants Of Health Patterns In Children With Severe Disease Due To Sars-Cov-2 Infection-An Exploratory Approach, Joshua Prabhu, Sebastian Acosta, Fabio Savorgnan, Ananth V Annapragada, Usha Sethuraman Nov 2025

Social Determinants Of Health Patterns In Children With Severe Disease Due To Sars-Cov-2 Infection-An Exploratory Approach, Joshua Prabhu, Sebastian Acosta, Fabio Savorgnan, Ananth V Annapragada, Usha Sethuraman

Faculty, Staff and Students Publications

Background/Objectives: Research on the association of adverse social determinants of health (SDOH) with severe pediatric coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is limited. We examined associations between SDOH patterns and COVID-19 severity in children.

Methods: We conducted a prospective, observational study of children (< 18 years) with symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection evaluated in an urban pediatric emergency department (March 2021-April 2022) in Detroit, Michigan. Caregivers completed a 34-item survey based on the Healthy People 2030 framework. Severe disease was defined as the occurrence of respiratory/cardiac failure or death within four weeks of diagnosis. Continuous and categorical variables were described using medians and percentages, respectively. Associations between disease severity and risk factors were determined using chi-square tests. Association rule mining was used for feature selection, followed by multivariate logistic regression.

Results: We analyzed data from 354 children [6-12 years: 31.1%, Female: 51.1%, Black: 59%, not Hispanic: 84.7%, public insurance: 77.1%, chronic condition: 27.4%]. Of the total, 113 children had severe disease. Most caregivers were 30-44 years old (53.1%), had less than a college degree (70.4%), and income < USD 50,000 (75.2%). Adverse SDOH reported included food/housing insecurity (24.6%), no support (64.7%), unmet childcare needs (35.9%), and lack of transportation (12.7%). After controlling for age, sex, medical history, income, and obesity, severe disease was associated with caregiver use of drugs/alcohol (OR:5.92, p < 0.001) and social discrimination/lack of support (OR: 1.74, p = 0.030).

Conclusions: Two SDOH patterns (caregiver use of drugs/alcohol …

The Effect Of High-Intensity Interval Training On Visceral Adipose Tissue In Type 2 Diabetes: A Systematic Review, Ivan D. Delgado, Julio C. Delgado, Ryan D. Burns

International Journal of Exercise Science

International Journal of Exercise Science 18(5): 1321-1333, 2025. https://doi.org/10.70252/YEUF2363 Visceral adipose tissue (VAT) is a significant contributor to insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes (T2D). The effectiveness of time-efficient high-intensity interval training (HIIT) in reducing VAT has not been reviewed. A systematic search conducted on PubMed, Embase, and SPORTDiscus up to April 2025 for randomized controlled trials that compared HIIT with non-exercise control and quantified VAT using imaging identified five trials (n = 138) that met inclusion criteria. Risk of bias was assessed using a nine-item modified PEDro scale. Four trials reported significant reductions in VAT after 8-12 weeks of …
