Ferrocene-Bearing Tea Polyphenol Particles As Anticancer Drug Carriers, Punnawich Phaiyarin

Ferrocene is a redox moiety that can be positively charged upon being oxidized. Thus, it is possible to use this moiety to make a polymer platform that is redox responsive regarding their water solubility. Here we prepared polymerized EGCG nanoparticles (pEGCG) and polymerized EGCG gum (pEGCG-gum) from tea polyphenol EGCG. Ferrocene was grafted onto the polymerized tea polyphenol and the obtained polymers were allowed to self-assemble into water-insoluble and indispersible sub-micron particles. The water-insoluble ferrocene-bearing particles became water-dispersible particles with nanometer sizes upon being oxidized by hydrogen peroxide. Cysteine is a sulphur-containing amino acid that acts as an effective antioxidant in human body. An excessive amount of cysteine leads to cystine formation that causes the stone formation in kidney, bladder, and ureters. A new method was developed for detection of cysteine in urine samples based on the aggregation of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) on Hydroxyapatite (HAp) in the presence of cysteine. Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) was used to observe the morphology of prepared HAp and AgNPs on HAp. The presence of cysteine of different concentrations resulted in different cluster sizes of AgNPs on HAp and hence different solid color. …

This study focused on the development of multifunctional gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) using pullulan derivatives as a trifunctional reducing, stabilizing and capping agent for targeted delivery of camptothecin (CPT) or doxorubicin (DOX) in order to enhance their efficacy and reduce side effects. A new method for thiocyanate determination in milk samples based on the formation of dithiocyanato dipyridine copper(II) [Cu(SCN)2(Py)2] complex on polymer resin surface is proposed. Amberlite XAD-7 resin on was modified with copper-pyridine complex and used as the material for detection. The color of resin changed from blue to green with the increase of thiocyanate concentration. On May 5, 2014, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 on the Richter scale occurred in Chiang Rai, Thailand. This earthquake was the strongest earthquake in Thailand at the Mae Lao District region. It also caused building damage and casualties. In this research, 277 participants living in village no.2 and village no.7 of Dong Mada, a sub-district at Mae Lao district in Chiang Rai, were selected. β-thalassemia/HbE is an inherited hemolytic anemia caused by defect in β-globin synthesis resulting in accumulation of excess α-globin chains in red blood cells. A hypercogulable state leading to high risk of thromboembolic event is one of the most common complications observed in this disease, particularly in patients with splenectomy. Previous studies suggested that increased platelet activation and coagulation factors in β-thalassemia/HbE intermediate patients promote the hypercoagulable state. Background: Assessment of HER2 status is considered standard of care in the histopathologic workup of breast cancer and conveys prognostic and predictive information used to guide treatment decisions. The assessment is often carried out in a two-step approach where immunohistochemical expression of HER2 protein is first evaluated by conventional microscopy and equivocal cases are further analyzed by in-situ hybridization techniques to assess gene amplification status. This study aims to assess the appropriate site for diagnosing eosinophilic chronic rhinosinusitis (ECRS) by histopathology. Patients with chronic rhinosinusitis with polyps (CRSwNP) were enrolled. Specimens were collected from polyp apex, polyp pedicle, polyp scraping and ethmoid mucosa. Number of tissue eosinophil of the four samples was assessed with intrapersonal comparison for diagnosing ECRS. Correlations with clinical characteristics of ECRS were assessed for each site. Results showed that thirty patients with CRSwNP were enrolled. Polyp apex, polyp pedicle and ethmoid mucosa gave similar results for diagnosing ECRS in 16 patients (53.3%). This dissertation studied the tobacco use impact of on health care utilization, household expenditure, and self-rated health among rural residents in rural China. The 2010-2014 China Family Panel Studies data were employed here. Moreover, this study also conducted the randomized controlled trial and analyzed the cost-effectiveness smoking cessation intervention among college-aged smokers in Inner Mongolia, China. The main findings showed: (1) Current and former smokers use more outpatient care than non-smokers. Moreover, former smokers use more inpatient care than non-smokers in rural China. The aim of this in vitro study was to investigate the effect of remineralization and time on the color and microhardness change of teeth bleached using 10% carbamide peroxide (10%CP) or 40% hydrogen peroxide (40%HP). Seventy-two 6x6x2 mm3 enamel slabs were prepared from human premolars. The specimens' color and Vickers' microhardness were recorded at baseline (T0). Objectives: The aim of this study was to observe the correlation of esthetic outcomes of single-tooth implant restoration when using Pink Esthetic Score/White Esthetic Score and the new modified assessment (Modified Objective Criteria; MOC) Materials and Methods: This crossectional retrospective study, up to 5 years, recruited 26 patients who single implant in maxillary central incisor area was placed. Objective To investigate the effect of the taper-implant design and the effect of bone quality on the primary stability in terms of insertion torque test, removal torque test and resonance frequency analysis. Methods Five taper-implant designs were test in artificial bone blocks with four qualities. Five repetitions per implant design were placed in each bone quality started from softest bone block. The implant motor was used to prepared the osteotomy sites and implant insertion according to manufacturers' recommendation.
