I propose to retain the benefits of vertical housing and improve upon it by

up-zoning the block and building low-rise, high-density mixed-income structures

on the site’s perimeter. The new construction will include public amenities that are

lacking in the immediate area such as retail, restaurants, work space, and public

service facilities. Through adaptive re-use of mega blocks will be reclaimed. This

mixed-use approach to the expanded occupancy will also restore the diversity that

was lost when the towers were first built.

Many students seem disinterested in learning to handle employment interviews effectively. This article discusses students’ motivation to become skilled interviewees and steps educators and counselors can take to increase students’ interest in this crucial career activity. The article also discusses mistakes students frequently make during employment interviews and provides suggestions educators can use to help students avoid these difficulties.

The purpose of this study is two-fold:

1) To examine the changing nature of arms control and disarmament, focusing on what appear to be a few of the most promising frameworks for tackling the relationship between weapons management and the wider goals of development, security and peacebuilding

2) To reflect that thinking back onto mine action itself.

The study, by providing an overview of the wider context within which mine action is operating, sketches out dimensions that seem of particular relevance to thinking about the future of mine action in an increasingly complex and challenging global context.

To understand Nietzsche in the context of hermeneutics is to understand not only Nietzsche’s philosophy of interpretation (Figl 1982a, 1984) but his perspective on perspective (Cox 1997) or “perspectivalism” (Babich 1994: 116f). In turn, given his background familiarity with hermeneutic methodology, this also corresponds to Nietzsche’s own approach as an interpreter of texts and antiquity as of the life, the culture, the history of ancient Greece (see the range of contributions to Jensen and Heit 2014 as well as Ugolini 2003; Figl 1984; and Pöschl 1979). The purpose of this study was to determine if the frequency with which middle school teachers implement research-based literacy strategies serves as a predictor of success on the English/language arts portion of ISTEP+. The study looked at research-based strategies in fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary. Teachers of English, language arts, social studies, science, and a combination of the above subjects were surveyed. Seven questions from each area were posed relating to the frequency of implementation per quarter. The study was split into two groups, high-poverty schools and low-poverty schools. Of those teachers surveyed, teachers in low-achieving, low-poverty schools reported using research-based …

The goal of this study is to show that the fiction of genocide aims to share emotions between the narrator and the reader. It is possible to consider the narrator as representing the real reader and not only as the simple recipient written into the text. This is to say that the narrator is a part of the story but is also the reader’s counterpart as the real recipient, because both-- narrator and real reader-- are integrated in the imaginary world of the story. Masculinities, Militarism, And The Construction Of Gender In Contemporary Fiji: Performances Of Parody And Subversion As Feminist Resistance, Tui Nicola Clery

Pacific Studies

This article explores the historical and cultural construction of militarism and masculinity in Fiji. It argues that gendered identities are not fixed but are performed and shaped through embodied actions, discourse, and social relationships. Central to this analysis is the enduring significance of the warrior figure in indigenous Fijian epistemology and how this ideal has influenced contemporary masculinities. The paper also examines how indigenous Fijian masculinities have been constructed in contrast to those of the Fiji-Indian population, particularly during periods of conflict, revealing the complex interplay between gender, ethnicity, and militarism in Fijian society.
