Governors State Teacher Education Program Receives National Reaccreditation, Office Of Public Affairs
Press Releases
Governors State University’s teacher education program has received the highest possible grade from the National Council for Accreditation of Teaching Education (NCATE).
Following the visit by a team of leaders in national teaching education earlier this year, NCATE recently affirmed the accreditation of GSU’s College of Education (COE). NCATE found that COE met its standards for both initial and advanced teacher preparation in six critical areas: knowledge, skills, and professional dispositions; assessment system and unite evaluation, field experiences and clinical practices; diversity; faculty qualifications, performance, and development; and unit governance and resources. NCATE’s evaluation found no areas for needed improvements …

The discovery of transiting planets around bright stars holds the potential to greatly enhance our understanding of planetary atmospheres. In this work we present the search for transits of HD 168443b, a massive planet orbiting the bright star HD 168443 (V = 6.92) with a period of 58.11 days. The high eccentricity of the planetary orbit (e = 0.53) significantly enhances the a priori transit probability beyond that expected for a circular orbit, making HD 168443 a candidate for our ongoing Transit Ephemeris Refinement and Monitoring Survey. Using additional radial velocities from Keck High Resolution Echelle Spectrometer, we refined the …

I'm drunk in the bar car, deep in the spirit, sitting across from a toothless old cripple at one of the yellow tables bolted into the floor. He wears a black cowboy hat on his way back to Colorado after burying his grandson in California. We're staring sideways out the long train window. Two walking canes hang on the back of a bolted chair next to old Bill.

The evidence of the orators shows that the paragraphě on such issues as proper jurisdiction did not precede a separate hearing on the substance of the case but was one element of the argumentation in a single proceeding.

A Matter Of Seconds: An Interpretive Study On Media Reporting Of Life-Threatened Children, James M. Kavanaugh
A Matter Of Seconds: An Interpretive Study On Media Reporting Of Life-Threatened Children, James M. Kavanaugh
College of Journalism and Mass Communications: Theses
Based on the premise that journalists and media systems have an ethical responsibility to report on the issue of child mortality, this interpretive study examines the question of how they can do so effectively, with the possibility of inspiring generous action among their audiences. The study compares results from human science research on charitable giving to distant victims, with a set of interviews involving a diverse group of media specialists. In conclusion, while the media staff of nonprofit organizations, compared to journalists, tend to be more aware of social research related to charitable giving, as well as more comfortable with …
