Autoregressive Moving Average Models Of Conifer Crown Profiles, Samantha J. Gill, Gregory S. Biging

Natural Resources Management and Environmental Sciences

A time-series autoregressive moving average (ARMA) approach was used to develop stochastic models of tree crown profiles for five conifer species of the Sierran mixed conifer habitat type. Models consisted of three components: (1) a polynomial trend; (2) an ARMA model; and (3) random error. A Bayesian information criterion was used to evaluate alternative models. It was found that 70% of the crown profiles could be modeled using first-order ARMA [AR(1) or MA(1)] models, and that an additional 25% could be modeled using a white noise model [(AR(0)]. The purpose of this application, under Articles 23.9.3 and 8 1.2.3 of the Code, is to conserve the generic name Bolboceras Kirby, 1819 for a group of scarab beetles (family GEOTRUPIDAE) by giving it conditional precedence over the older name Odonteus Samouelle, 18 19 whenever they are considered to be synonyms. The name Bolboceras is threatened by a single usage by Krelljn 1990 of the otherwise unused name Odonteus.

The Frat was the official member publication of the National Fraternal Society of the Deaf (NFSD). First established in 1902, the publication ran for just over a century, until its closure in 2006.---NFSD was an insurance business established in 1901. Its purposes were to provide insurance to mainly Deaf members, to serve as an advocate for the Deaf, and to provide community service and recreational opportunities through divisional activities. The existing insurance coverage was transferred to the Catholic Order of Foresters in 2005. The NFSD disbanded in 2007.---The Frat's main purpose was to keep members apprised of the activities of …

Influence Of Moderate Training On Gait And Work Capacity In Fibromyalgia Patients: A Preliminary Field Study, Peter Tiidus, Michael Pierrynowski, Kimberley A. Dawson

Kinesiology and Physical Education Faculty Publications

This field study examined the influence of moderate intensity training on gait patterns and work capacity of individauls with fibromyalgia syndrome (FS). FS is a chronic condition of unknown etiology, characterized by muscle tenderness, pain and stiffness and often accompanied by depression and fatigue which seems to occur primarily in middle aged females. There is no known cure for FS but treatment often includes a prescription of mild exercise. Few studies have evaluated the effectiveness of mild exercise on work capacity and gait patterns in FS patients. Participants were 14 females (age 47.0±7.6 y) who participated in a 10 wk …

Over several decades churches worldwide have focused on recovering or discovering biblical, vibrant worship. With one brilliant statement John Piper captured the current wave of worship and connected it to missions. In what has become a classic motto of the missions movement Piper reminded the Christian community that “missions exists because worship doesn’t. Missions is not the ultimate goal of the church. Worship is.” While not a new concept, these few words helped forge missions and worship into symbiotic relationship. Each morphed into the other in an ongoing continuum. Puerto Rico: State Formation In A Colonial Context, Pedro Caban

Latin American, Caribbean, and U.S. Latino Studies Faculty Scholarship

This article examines U.S. Puerto Rico relations during the American century through the prism of the colonial state and identifies eight periods of fundamental political and economic change that altered the conduct of U.S. colonial practice in Puerto Rico. These periods witnessed the emergence, ascendancy and decline of local political coalitions that competed for control of the control state. The coalitions articulated distinct economic projects and pursued different strategies to resolve Puerto Rico's status as an unincorporated territorial possession. Each period was also marked by insular economic restructuring precipitated by shifts in U.S. fiscal policies and changes in the economy, …

Rehabilitation Practice and Science

Shoulder injuries occurred frequently in elite baseball players. They are generally evaluated by questionnaire and physical examination and lacking of objective study such as a high-resolution ultrasonography especially in Taiwan. This study attempted to investigate the status of shoulder injuries in Taiwan elite baseball players by questionnaire and physical examination and defined the role of ultrasonographic examination in this type of injury.Twenty four elite college baseball players were recruited in this study. All the participants completed a questionnaire consisting of the training and injury history, and underwent Speed test, Empty can test, and Hawkins-Kennedy impingement test.
