Coma Reversal And Functional Recovery After Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy And Rehabilitation In The Subacute Phase Of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning: A Casereport And Literature Review, Chun-Hui Wang, Fook-Cheung Wan Sep 2000

Coma Reversal And Functional Recovery After Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy And Rehabilitation In The Subacute Phase Of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning: A Casereport And Literature Review, Chun-Hui Wang, Fook-Cheung Wan

Rehabilitation Practice and Science

Hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) effectively decreases the morbidity and mortality of carbon monoxide poisoning . Immediate HBO treatment is indicated as it yields a more rapid and greater neuropsychological recovery. HBO significantly decreases the half life of carboxy hemoglobin (COHb) and increases the tissue clearance of residual carbon monoxide, thus decreasing the neuropsychological deficit. HBO enhances the outcome even in the subacute phase of CO poisoning as in this case. A thirteen year old girl was admitted to our hospital in a deep coma after severe CO poisoning from gas leakage and was referred for HBO treatment one month after carbon …

Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy: An Alternative For Long-Term Tube Feeding Individuals, Hao-Pai Ni, Tzong-Hsi Lee, Tyng-Guey Wang Sep 2000

Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy: An Alternative For Long-Term Tube Feeding Individuals, Hao-Pai Ni, Tzong-Hsi Lee, Tyng-Guey Wang

Rehabilitation Practice and Science

Dysphagia is a common problem in rehabilitation service. Tube feeding is mandatory for patients unable to achieve the goal of oral feeding despite comprehensive rehabilitation training. Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) has been widely used for patients requiring tube feeding in the past 20 years; however, its long-term complications and satisfaction have seldom been mentioned in Taiwan. The purpose of this study was to investigate the acute complications and long-term problems in pat-ients who received PEG. The result might provide the clinicians valuable information in managing the patients requiring long-term tube feeding. This study was a retrospective case note analysis and …

Pride Water Quality Assessment Report: I. Problems And Programs, Kentucky Water Resources Research Institute. University Of Kentucky

KWRRI Research Reports

This report provides an overview of the water quality problems and associated state and federal programs in the 40 counties that make up the PRIDE region. The 2000 Kentucky 305(b) stream assessment has identified over 1000 miles of impaired stream within the region. The major cause of pollution in the region is related to problems with pathogens. Much of these problems are related to straight pipes and failing septic and wastewater systems. It has been estimated that there are over 35,000 straight pipes and failing septic systems in the PRIDE region. A second major environmental impact in the region is …

Pride Water Quality Assessment Report: Ii. Chemical, Biological And Habitat Assessments, Kentucky Water Resources Research Institute, University Of Kentucky

KWRRI Research Reports

The efficient utilization of federal funds in improving the water quality and aquatic habitat of the region requires a mechanism for assessing and evaluating the impacts of the proposed and ongoing projects as well as some mechanism for prioritizing the allocation of additional funds. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of these projects it is important to provide a formal monitoring and assessment program based on sound scientific principles. This report provides an initial 10 year baseline assessment of the existing water quality conditions in the 40 county PRIDE·region for the purpose of evaluating the impacts of the PRIDE programs …

Employee Commitment: An Overview, Gbolahan Gbadamosi

IIMB Management Review

Organisational commitment continues to be a topical issue in management research and of great relevance to the practising manager. The commitment of employees is obviously an area of interest in human resources management, the assumption being that employee commitment enhances performance and organisational effectiveness. Research findings and literature on organisational commitment provide some pointers and lessons for human resource managers, which would be well worth examining.
