Evaluating Business Cases Some Guidelines, N Balasubramanian Apr 1997

Evaluating Business Cases Some Guidelines, N Balasubramanian

IIMB Management Review

As the case method of instruction in teaching and training in business and management education finds increasing acceptance, the focus is now on how to enhance the quality of business cases that are written, and also on how to upgrade the quality of teaching through the case method. More and more users of cases, and the authors themselves, would want to evaluate cases before deciding to use them.

Weak Calf Syndrome An Indirect Result Of Cold-Weather Stress, Bill Epperson Apr 1997

Weak Calf Syndrome An Indirect Result Of Cold-Weather Stress, Bill Epperson

SDSU Extension Extra Archives

Severe winter conditions are commonplace in many geographical areas where beef is produced. However, cold temperatures, wind, and abnormally high snowfall can combine to produce environmental conditions that make adequate care of the beef herd impossible. In such conditions and despite the best effort, producers will often have difficulty carrying out typical management practices and providing adequate nutrition to cows. The end result is that nutrition during gestation may not have been optimal, environmental conditions at calving may be poor, and cows are very stressed. These conditions can lead to several health problems not normally encountered by the beef producer. …

State Of The Fisheries Report 1995/1996, Jim W. Penn Apr 1997

State Of The Fisheries Report 1995/1996, Jim W. Penn

Status Reports of the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources

The State of the Fisheries document is designed as an essential supplement to the Annual Report to Parliament. By summarising data such as landings, effort, catch rates, stock assessment and breeding stock levels, this document provides a valuable reference point for all Western Australian fisheries of major importance to the commercial, recreational and aquaculture sectors. The report indicates that overall the major fish stocks which support fisheries in Western Australia are in a reasonably healthy condition. Those species which are being harvested at levels above their optimum, such as the shark stocks, are subject to increasing fishing controls designed to …

Feminism, Globalization And Culture: After Beijing, L. Amede Obiora Apr 1997

Feminism, Globalization And Culture: After Beijing, L. Amede Obiora

Indiana Journal of Global Legal Studies

In this article, Professor Obiora begins with the premise that the

credibility of traditional legal frameworks has eroded, because the law

remains unable to relieve the oppressions and polarization between cultures,

even in the wake of global institutional transformations that seem to help the

oppressed, particularly women. Professor Obiora offers the Beijing Platform

for Action as a radical new solution for human rights protection, radical in

that it is one of the first declaratives to transcend the previous dichotomy of

issues among women by expressing a commitment to a global framework in

which to address these issues, particularly the feminization …

Media Mergers: First Step In A New Shift Of Antitrust Analysis?, Keith Conrad Apr 1997

Media Mergers: First Step In A New Shift Of Antitrust Analysis?, Keith Conrad

Federal Communications Law Journal

An alarming trend toward concentration of media ownership has been highlighted by Walt Disney's acquisition of Capital Cities/ABC, and Time Warner's acquisition of Turner Broadcasting System. While current antitrust approaches are not expected to stem this trend, antitrust is a constantly evolving area of law. As Chairman of the FTC, Robert Pitofsky is in a position to move antitrust analysis away from the economically focused Chicago School approach, and toward an approach which also considers social and political issues. Consideration of these issues is supported by Pitofsky's own writings and could reduce the trend of media concentration.

Direct And Indirect Effects Of Feminist Actions On Women's Rights In France, Kirsten Keeley '97 Apr 1997

Direct And Indirect Effects Of Feminist Actions On Women's Rights In France, Kirsten Keeley '97

Honors Projects

This study is divided into several parts, the first of which deals with the successes and weaknesses of the French women's movement. The second part will focus on the progress and shortcomings of governmental policies which concern women's rights. This will be followed by an analysis of women's participation in national government. Finally I will show that, overall, the advances in women's rights in France since the 1960s outweigh the setbacks. If we consider their achievements within their cultural context, French women have been successful in overcoming enormous social, legal and political obstacles
