The intent of this thesis is to demonstrate that the art of biblical storytelling is a means to effect a fresh hearing of the gospel. The thesis will be established in four ways: 1. By reporting the personal history of the author with biblical storytelling in a contemporary parish. 2. By examining the need for a fresh hearing in the way biblical storytelling relates to contemporary hermeneutics and homiletics. 3. Honduran national Manfredo Angel Velasquez Rodriguez was taken to a detention center in Tegucigalpa on September 12, 1981, and was never seen again. He was thirty-five years old when he disappeared, and left a wife and four small children. Without any judicial process he was detained, interrogated and tortured, and then disappeared. A petition concerning the disappearance of Velisquez Rodriguez was filed with the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (Commission) in October of 1981. On July 29, 1988, an historic day in the fight against governmental human rights abuses in Latin America, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights held that …

The objective of this study was to analyze theoretically and experimentally the fluid characteristics of forced flow in microchannels. An apparatus was designed and constructed to allow microflow through a 450 μm wide by 17. 5 μm deep microchannel in a silicon chip. The flow through the chip was laminar with Reynolds numbers not exceeding 100. Tuckerman and Pease (1981) theorized that microscopic heat exchangers etched in the back of silicon chips could provide for efficient heat removal from the chips at rates much higher than the conventional methods could attain. This research addresses emissions of hexavalent chromium mist from hard chromium electroplating operations. Most of these emissions are typically captured by a ventilation stack and directed to a pollution control device; those which escape capture are called fugitive emissions. Releases of toxic materials such as hexavalent chromium must be reported annually to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under provisions of the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA) Title III of 1986 via the Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), Form R. The objectives were: (1) to provide estimates of fugitive hexavalent chromium emissions for the completion of Form R; and (2) to …

Enumeration Of All Simple T-(T+7,T+1,2) Designs, Stanislaw Radziszowski

We enumerate by computer algorithms all simple t (t +7, t +1, 2) designs for 1 <= t <= 5, i.e. for all possible t , and this enumeration is new for t >= 3. The number of nonisomorphic designs is equal to 3, 13, 27, 1 and 1 for t = 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, respectively. We also present some properties of these designs including orders of their full automorphism groups and resolvability.

Comparison Of Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphisms In Chloroplast Dna Of Five Leafy Spurge (Euphorbia Spp.) Accessions, Scott Nissen, Robert A. Masters, Donald Lee, Martha Rowe

Chloroplast DNA (cpDNA) restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLPs) were analyzed to assess genetic variation and relatedness among selections of North American and Eurasian leafy spurge. Leafy spurge accessions from Nebraska, Montana, Russia, Italy, and Austria were evaluated. Total DNA was extracted from young leaves and digested with the restriction endonuclease, EcoRI. CpDNA fragment patterns were determined by Southern blot analysis using mung bean cpDNA probes. Colinearity between the mung bean and leafy spurge chloroplast genomes was indicated by the observation that common fragments were hybridized by adjacent probes. Two types of hysteresis loops have been observed on Goodwin Creek: those with a greater flow depth for a given discharge on the falling limb of the hydrograph (type 1) and those with a greater flow depth for a given discharge on the rising limb of the hydrograph (type 2). Causes of these 2 loop types are investigated in this paper.

Starch encapsulation has been proposed as a method for controlling the rate at which pesticides are released into the soil. Relatively little is known about what environmental factors influence controlled release. A series of laboratory studies were initiated to improve our understanding of how water potential, temperature, and soil microbial activity influence rate of release of starch-encapsulated atrazine (2-chloro-4ethylamino-6-isopropylamino-s-triazine) and alachlor (2-chloro-2’,6’-diethyl-N-(methoxymethyl)-acetanilide). Water potential, imposed using polyethylene glycol, significantly influenced swelling of the starch matrix and rate of release of both herbicides. At a water potential of 0 MPa, complete release required 21 d for atrazine and 7 …

This Article examines one kind of fiduciary relationship—one that develops from an ordinary, arms-length commercial relationship between a lender and a borrower. Although this prototype relationship exists in the broader context of “lender liability,” to which academic commentators and the practicing bar have paid a good deal of attention in recent years, the suggested analysis has as much to do with fiduciary relationships generally as it does with issues of lender liability. The unconventional fiduciary relationship examined here differs in several respects from the conventional fiduciary relationship, for example that of trustee-beneficiary. This article criticizes the inadequacy of information available to consumers seeking an attorney compatible with their needs. The article describes why such inadequacy exists – in part because the legal profession distribute information to consumers through the narrow lens of attorney self-regulation rather than through the broader lens of consumer need. Yet, in striving to maintain their autonomy, lawyers have only perpetuated the enormous gap between information the public would like to have and that which they actually receive. The article explores sources of information consumers have access to, why such sources are so limited, and finally, how the problem …

INTRODUCTION: The remedies section of the Association of American Law Schools decided to hold a panel discussion at its annual meeting in January 1991 on two 1990 Supreme Court cases, Spallone v. United States' and Missouri v. Jenkins, because these cases raise some troubling questions about the implementation of constitutional remedies. Not surprisingly, the State and Local Government Section was also planning a panel discussion about the same cases because they involve federal courts in local governmental decisions.
