Ship Stability is one of the maritime subjects which raises lot of enthusiasm and controversy. As long as ships continue to be lost at sea, the need will exist for a constant reviewing of stability standards and increasing exigency to provide more effective regulations. The present study will be focussed on three main modules. These modules are: technology, regulations and training. Whenever an accident happened at sea people are called to find probable persons or authorities responsible. According to the international and national regulations and requirements on safety at sea, the maritime institutions and training centers in China have held and offered certain specific education and training courses for seafarers and the students of the maritime institutions in the field of maritime safety. The use of poor quality heavy fuel oil diesel (HFO) in diesel engines has increased considerably over the last decade. This increase has been driven purely from the immediate financial benefits associated with the price of poor quality heavy fuels. The notion of ’if it burns, use it' has led to catastrophic and irreversible damages to many engine components. Compounding the former dilemma is the inadequate knowledge of some operators with respect to the qualities of HFOs and their effects on diesel engines. Cooperative Learning On Mathematical Problem Solving: Reflections By A Traditional Teacher And Her Students, Diana Metsisto
Critical and Creative Thinking Capstones Collection
As our society becomes more technologically complex, the educational system preparing our students to become citizens of this society must adapt to met changing demands. Mathematical literacy of the 21st century will require a different model of mathematics education than that which served in the past. This thesis argues for a model of mathematics education which includes as key components: problem solving, question posing, cooperative learning, concrete manipulatives, and teaching for thinking. This new model sets forth guidelines for a facilitative approach to the teaching of mathematics as opposed to the more traditional, authoritative model. This facilitative model is based …
