The Relationship Between Test Anxiety And Academic Performance Of Untreated Test Anxious College Students, Joanmarie Christine Vlach-Kolesar
UNLV Retrospective Theses & Dissertations
The relationship between test anxiety and academic performance was determined for a sample of fifty-three college students. Classroom examination scores and measures of preterm and postterm self-reported anxiety were collected to test the basic assumptions: (a) that there is a relationship between test anxiety and academic performance; (b) that test anxiety has a debilitating effect on academic performance; (c) to investigate if academic performance changes for test anxious subjects without treatment; and (d) if untreated test anxiety will decline over the course of a semester. The results were consistent with general findings that there is a significant negative correlation between …

Effects Of Ambient Lake Mohave Temperatures On Development, Oxygen Consumption, And Hatching Success Of The Razorback Sucker, Michael A. Bozek, Larry J. Paulson, Gene R. Wilde

Spawning of razorback suckers, Xyrauchen texanus, in Lake Mohave occurred from 10-22° C and larvae were collected at water temperatures from 10-15° C in 1982 and 1983. In the laboratory, hatching success was similar from 12-20° C, but reduced hatching success was found at 10° C while none hatched at 8°C. Development rate and oxygen consumption were positively related to incubation temperature. Direct effects of ambient Lake Mohave water temperatures on hatching success of razorback sucker embryos are considered minimal. Historical spawning temperatures for the species are hypothesized based upon successful incubation temperatures and comparison to the white sucker, …

A Survey Of Multicultural Counselor Training Courses In Selected California State University System Programs, Mary Wood Reibson
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
The study examined the perceptions of counselor trainees and faculty for multicultural training courses. It developed curriculum information, compared program emphases in the training categories of awareness, skills and knowledge, and explored training importance and opportunity. Professional guidelines were reviewed to identify the training expected from courses which prepared counselors to work with clients from diverse populations. Survey forms were developed and administered to trainees and faculty. The resulting data were analyzed by descriptive methods, primarily of mean scores and ranked preferences. The Kruskal-Wallace and Mann-Whitney interpretations of group differences were used to identify statistically significant variations in group responses. …

A Study Of Academic Characteristics Of Students Completing Vocational And Associate Degree Programs In Nursing., Emily Snider Mcdowell

Research was conducted with three groups of students from one-year vocational programs for practical nurses and two-year associate degree programs for registered nurses. Ten academic and demographic variables were studied to determine if the groups were more similar or dissimilar. These studies were carried out in order to lend support to the movement of one-year vocational programs of nursing into institutions of higher learning to award the associate degree. ANOVA testing at the.05 alpha level was used to determine significant differences among the three groups. Pearson product-moment correlation and multiple linear regression studies were used to determine if any one …
