The rapid increase of Caribbean immigrants into Canada, especially to the large Metropolitan centers, coupled with the separation-reunion syndrome which results from their "shift" pattern of migration have contributed significantly to the alarming decadence of the Caribbean immigrant family. This project seeks to design and implement a seminar series that will help spouses and parents of these families to understand and identify with the nature of the challenges brought about or accentuated by migration, and also to help them develop strategies and skills for effectively coping with these challenges.

Problem. The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Puerto Rico is in need of programs to strengthen newly baptized converts.

Method. Much literature related to disciple-building and small groups was researched in order to lay a spiritual foundation and find ways to meet the needs of new believers.

Results/Conclusions. This study concludes that disciple-building is as much a rich biblical issue as any other subject of the sacred Book. However, this subject remains almost a virgin field from the standpoint of pragmatics. Problem. In smaller churches the quality of the message delivered during the worship service on weeks the pastor is absent, is often reported to be weak and lackluster. Previous testing has determined that video instruction is as effective in teaching as live instruction. Presently, some pastors are reported to be using video in small churches. The purpose of this study was to determine if the videotaped sermon is a viable alternative worship form for small churches.

Problem. A very important concern felt by the pastoral staff and lay leadership at the Crossroads Seventh-day Adventist Church, New York City, was that of building and maintaining the attendance at weekly worship services. The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of a specially prepared series of sermons dealing with worship-related topics on the attendance and attitudes of those who assemble regularly to worship at this church.

This project attempts to investigate the causes of membership dropout among selected churches in the East Jamaica Conference of SDA. Several New Testament examples are explored in an effort to determine the church's responsibility in behalf of the missing member. The role and function of the church as a loving, caring community in reclaiming and restoring dropouts is discussed. Paul's teachings in 1 Corinthians, Romans, and Ephesians concerning the church as a body and Christ the head also are examined.

This project attempts to discover some criteria (or characteristics) that can be used in contemporary preaching, based in the Old Testament. So I selected seven Old Testament preachers (prophets) and analyzed seven of their sermons (or messages) or parts thereof. Somehow they cover the history of Israel as a nation starting with Moses down to Haggai. The other five are; Joshua, Solomon, Elijah, Amos and Jeremiah. The Comprehensive Planning Workshop is the capstone of the Portland State University's Master of Urban Planning program. The workshop projects are planning studies that have a practical use long after the school term is over.

Originally, the workshop intended to research Albina's history as a background piece to our main research efforts. It became clear to us that there was a rich, fascinating story to be told about Albina, one that we wished to develop and make accessible to more people. The New York State Commission on Government Integrity investigated numerous situations throughout the state that revealed just how bad the current law is. Our findings and a pro- posed municipal ethics act that we drafted to correct the law's deficiencies are contained in the following report, "Municipal Ethical Standards: The Need for a New Approach." Our pro- posed Act would set out the minimum ethical standards that should be observed in every municipality throughout the state. Where Did The Nez Perces Go In Yellowstone In 1877?, William L. Lang

Examines the events surrounding the surrender of the Nez Perces tribe in the Nez Perce War of 1877 in Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana. The tribe surrendered in Montana, only about 40 miles from the safety of the border with Canada, after allowing General Nelson A. Miles's troops to catch up while they spent two weeks in Yellowstone. Why the tribe made this stop, and what they did while in Yellowstone has puzzled historians. A popular explanation based on the testimony of a hostage of the tribe has been that the tribe became lost in Yellowstone, but a reconstruction of the …
