The object of this test was to increase if possible the efficiency of an Ingeco Kerosene Engine manufactured by the International Gas Engine Company of Milwaukee, the engine being rated as 12 Horse Power at 275 revolutions per minute. The increase in efficiency was to be produced by heating the fuel and by introducing the exhaust gases into the combustion chamber.

Along the shore line of Lake Michigan are bluffs approximately fifty to sixty feet high above the level of the lake. With the exception of approximately two or three miles, where the ground elevation is not much above the lake level these bluffs are almost continuous along the shore. This low land extends from a short distance north of Wisconsin Street to a short distance south of the Illinois Steel Company's plant. The subject of this thesis was suggested by Prof. A. O. Weese. It was chosen by the writers first because they were interested in the distribution and habits of animal life in New Mexico and second because they wished to learn more about classification and methods of classification of animal life in general.

It has been found that New Mexico does not afford so great a variety of animal life as compared with more moist regions but that it affords much more than a casual observation would indicate. Most of those which it affords are found in large numbers.

Usually one coil of the transformer has many more turns of wire than the other, when the coil of few turns is the primary, the transformer takes a large current at a low potential and delivers a smaller current at high potential. This is called a step up transformer. When the coil of many turns is the primary the transformer takes small current at high potential and delivers greater current at lower potential.
