"The problem of the Mining Engineer and Metallurgical Engineer who wishes to treat the slimes and fine sands of a complex ore is the recovery and separation of minerals so as to render a subsequent treatment of any mineral profitable. The minerals must be separated into groups which can be treated by different processes, because a combination of numerous minerals is extremely undesirable at the smelting plant. "Flotation is a new step in the separation of valuable minerals from gangue. This process has only been in commercial use for about six years. There has been several theories advances as to how the ore is concentrated, and the theory that is now usually accepted is that the oil covers or wets the sulphide mineral particle and does not the gangue; and this mineral particle, by means of induced aid is concentrated on the surface. The observation of butter under different storage temperatures is interesting because of its practical bearing upon the factory phase of the dairy industry. Admittedly butter must be stored. It is consumer steadily. It is produced in varying quantities. It is a perishable product. Economic conditions have created the butte store house whereby uneven supplies may be more evenly distributed. Under all practical storage conditions butter deteriorates. Chemical changes occur, more or less pronounced, injuring the quality and thereby affecting the market value. In submitting this design I do so with the one point in view, namely, to endeavor to determine when reinforced concrete becomes impractical for design purposes.

To produce a maximum condition of loading on the lower floors I have taken up the design of a warehouse which is to carry a live and impact load of 400# per sq. ft., plus the dead load on each of the twelve floors. This condition of loading is not practical for design, but it will produce our desired conditions.

So far as the author has been able to find, there are no published analyses showing the relative composition of the most important used meat proteins, beef, pork and mutton, the Osborne and co-workers have published analyses of the water insoluble proteins of the muscle substance of ox, chicken, fish, and scallop. This paper gives the results of analyses, by the Van Slyke method, of the water insoluble fat-free proteins of beef, pork, and mutton.
