Printed circuit boards are a major component of most modern electronic devices. There are currently two major processes by which circuit boards are imaged; dry film and screen printing. This study investigated the screen printed circuit board. The resolution and registration limits are primary concerns of the screen circuit printer. These two factors are greatly influenced by two screen components; fabric and stencil system. The effects that two fabrics and two stencil systems had on the resolution and registration capabilities of a screen circuit printing system were determined. This report documents a study conducted to examine the correlation between identification thresholds and difference spectra of some resolving power target characters. The experiment included the USAF Tri-bar target, the RIT Alpha-numeric Resolving Power Target, and a set of targets called the Granger Modified Tri-bar targets. Assuming that target identification is a filtering process and primarily a function of its frequency spectrum, this study began with a prediction of targets that would have equal identification thresholds from difference spectra considerations. The reactions of various chlorinated hydrocarbons with molecular hydrogen or water vapor have been studied in a microwave plasma tubular flow reactor. The investigation of such reactions is desirable because the often toxic parent chlorocarbons are transformed to more thermodynamically stable and relatively non-toxic products by removal of' chlorine atoms as hydrogen chloride. Present detoxification technologies generally employ thermal oxidation as a means of disposal of chlorocarbons, which does not offer a thermodynamically stable sink for the chlorine atoms.

Thermograms are records of density levels which correspond to apparent temperatures. The process of thermographic imaging is based on Plank's law which relates temperature to radiance. It begins with the collection of quantum energy which is then converted to voltage. The voltage powers a light source to expose the recording material of the thermogram. The Association Product is a photosensitive coating for continuous-tone litho plates (It can also be used as a plate coating for halftone printing). It consists of phenolic resin and poly(ethylene oxide) and is photosensitized by a water soluble sensitizer. Continuous-tone lithography has better quality potential than the halftone process. Because the halftone process converts the continuous-tone image of the original into small dots of varying sizes, it thus inherently degrades the image quality and adds time and material costs in screening. The effects of mechanical stress on a photographic emulsion, namely Kodak Royal-X Panchromatic, has been investigated. The effects are related to the phenomenon of "Kink Desensitization" of the photographic emulsion. Despite the numerous experiments, results and explanations by previous authors on this phenomenon, a model relating the effects of mechanical stress on emulsions and dislocation theory of strained crystals still evades the photographic scientist. Printing without the use of a halftone screen pattern offers many advantages, although most processes utilized are impractical for long run commercial printing. Screenless lithography provides a practical means of making unscreened reproductions. While screenless lithography has been in use for many years, its working mechanisms have only recently been explained. The objective of this thesis is the study of the performance of instantaneously companded adaptive delta modulation (ADM) systems in comparison with linear delta modulation (LDM) in terms of signal to quantization noise ratio (SNR). Various schemes for ADM are discussed and their advantages and disadvantages are indicated. SNRs are calculated by simulation, with IBM's continuous system modeling programming (CSMP) language being used as a tool for simulation. LDM, first and second order constant factor delta modulation (CFDM), has been simulated and responses for different types of input signals are presented.

A Modified Unifac Model For The Prediction Of Henry's Constants, Carlos Alberto Marques Antunes

A group-contribution model for the correlation and prediction of Henry's constants in single solvents is presented. The mode: involves a one-parameter per gas/ solvent group pair UNIFAC expression extended to incorcorate free volume effects. The model is applied to three gases, CH₄, N₂, and O₂ in alkane solvents and in water. Good results, including a successful description of the temperature dependency of the Henry's constants, are obtained with typical accuracy of ± 10%.
