The Effects Of A Circuit Weight Training Program On Body Composition, Muscular Endurance, And Muscular Strength In Untrained Females, Stephen M. Woodden
The Effects Of A Circuit Weight Training Program On Body Composition, Muscular Endurance, And Muscular Strength In Untrained Females, Stephen M. Woodden
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The effects of a circuit weight training (CWT) program on body composition, muscular endurance, and muscular strength in untrained females were examined. Seventeen untrained female subjects volunteered for either the experimental group (EG) (N=l3) or the control group (CG) (N=4). All subjects were pre and post tested for total body weight (TBW), body density (BD), percent body fat (%BF), lean body weight (LBW), muscular endurance (ME), and muscular strength (MS). The EG participated in a CWT program, lifting a minimum of 40% of a one repetition maximum for 30 seconds (12-15 repetitions) at each station, and resting 40 seconds between …
Grazing Potential Of Major Soils Within The Black Hills Of South Dakota, Daryle L. Bennett
Grazing Potential Of Major Soils Within The Black Hills Of South Dakota, Daryle L. Bennett
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Silvicultural management applied by the United States Forest Service (USFS) utilizes a system of intermediate thinning cuts rather than clearcutting. This practice results in a rich understory of vegetation supporting significant wildlife populations. In 1980, 62,000 deer were estimated to be present within the Black Hills. The understory, in conjunction with the adjacent open parks and stream meadows, also supports another valuable resource the livestock industry. Over 29,000 cattle grazed nearly 486,000 hectares of Black Hills National Forest grazing allotments in 1980, totaling approximately 128,000 AUMs (animal unit months) seasonally. However, only 194,000 hectares of forest are classified as suitable …
Pesticide-Pesticide Interaction In Organophosphorus Insecticide Degradation, Peter E. Cheng
Pesticide-Pesticide Interaction In Organophosphorus Insecticide Degradation, Peter E. Cheng
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The widespread use of pesticides during the last two decades has played an important role in the development of today's agricultural system and is one of the major topics of modern science. It is also expected to assist in meeting the nutritional needs of the rapidly expanding populations in the world. The organophosphorus insecticides are among the most toxic pesticides employed for agricultural pest control. However, organophosphorus insecticides are usually rapidly degraded and eliminated. There has been a great amount of study on the chemical, microbial, and physical factors affecting degradation of organophosphorus insecticides, but degradation pathways and behavior have …

Ultrastructure Of Wheat (Triticum Aestivum) Leaf Cells Infected With Leaf Rust (Puccinia Recondita), And Wheat Streak Mosaic Virus, Saleh H. Shrief
Ultrastructure Of Wheat (Triticum Aestivum) Leaf Cells Infected With Leaf Rust (Puccinia Recondita), And Wheat Streak Mosaic Virus, Saleh H. Shrief
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Puccinia recondita ultrastructure resembles that of other rust species. The urediospore infection was characterized by the formation of a specialized structure, the haustorium, within the leaf cells. The haustorium contains organelles such as nuclei, mitochondria, microbodies, ribosomes, lipid bodies, and vacuoles. A haustorial neck connects the haustorium with the haustorial mother cell, and contains a neck band made up of darkly stained material. The neck band was located at the last one third of its length toward the haustorium. The haustorial mother cell was situated intercellularly, and closely adhering to the cell wall, but contained few organelles, and the nucleus …
Genetic Variation In Chickpea (Cicer Arietinum L.) : Enzyme Marker Loci And Quantitative Traits, Solomon Tuwafe
Genetic Variation In Chickpea (Cicer Arietinum L.) : Enzyme Marker Loci And Quantitative Traits, Solomon Tuwafe
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L), due to its nutritive quality, is one of the most important grain legume crop of the temperate and subtropical regions. Average productivity world-wide is about 710 kg/ha. In central South Dakota, seed production was as high as 2500 kg/ha which is approximately twice the production rate obtained from areas where chickpea is commonly grown. To improve productivity of chickpea at the international level, the crop has been included in the research mandates of the International Crop Research Institutes for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICROSAT), Hyderabad, India; and International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), …
Small Mammals In Prairie Wetlands: Habitat Use And The Effects Of Wetland Modifications, Grey W. Pendleton
Small Mammals In Prairie Wetlands: Habitat Use And The Effects Of Wetland Modifications, Grey W. Pendleton
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Although well documented for other habitat types, small mammal habitat use patterns in prairie wetlands are poorly understood. The distribution of the mammal fauna of South Dakota is also not well known. Because of the lack of information in these areas, evaluation of the impacts of wetland modifications on the resident mammal community is not possible. The objectives of this study were (1) to document the species composition and abundance of small mammal communities inhabiting prairie wetland basins, (2) to determine the effects of small scale habitat modification on small mammals, (3) and to explain local species distribution patterns using …
The Short Stories Of Djuna Barnes : A Less Disquieting Vision, Patricia Doughty
The Short Stories Of Djuna Barnes : A Less Disquieting Vision, Patricia Doughty
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Reading the works of the relatively unknown American author, Ojuna Barnes, often proves to be an intense experience, an experience which is not easily forgotten. Although one may not readily comprehend the thematic content of Barnes' work, one is immediately drawn to the beauty and the power of her language. Barnes' language is harmonious with her ideas. In her writing she deals with the often confusing complexities of the human condition, and to express those complexities, she uses language that is as highly charged and as complex as the condition described. She writes poetic fiction, prose that is inundated with …
