Techniques To Prevent Observability For Unauthorized Packets/Data Using Extended Berkeley Packet Filter Functionality, Jaganbabu Rajamanickam, Madhan Sankaranarayanan, Vinay Saini

Defensive Publications Series

Security is viewed as a primary component of any network. Extended Berkeley Packet Filter (eBPF) functionality has become an increasingly popular security mechanism as it provides a way to perform various low-level system tasks, such as networking, tracing, and security, without changing kernel source code or loading kernel modules. However, it is important to secure eBPF functions to prevent potential security issues. Proposed herein is a novel framework that may be utilized to facilitate eBPF authorization.

Techniques To Avoid Ue Registration Looping Due To Multiple Amf Redirections, Dishant Parikh, Akshay Jayaraj Bhat, Suraj Kumar Singh, Ganesh Agrawal

Defensive Publications Series

A service provider can deploy a 5G mobile core network by enabling network slices in order to offer different services to end users. In a network slicing deployment, a user equipment (UE) can initiate a registration procedure with a given Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF), however, an initial AMF with which a given UE initiates registration may not support the network slice with which UE seeks to register such that the UE is to be redirected to an appropriate AMF that serves the network slice. As there can be many different type of network slices provided for a 5G …

Identity Services Engine Security Anomaly Detection With Dynamic Latent Space Adaptation, Manjula Shivanna, Deepank Dixit, Kanishka Priyadharshini Annamalai May 2024

Identity Services Engine Security Anomaly Detection With Dynamic Latent Space Adaptation, Manjula Shivanna, Deepank Dixit, Kanishka Priyadharshini Annamalai

Defensive Publications Series

Techniques described herein provide for a Dynamic Latent Space Adaptation model that allows a Variational Autoencoder (VAE) to adjust its latent space dimensions in response to evolving complexities in input data. The model is initially trained on a comprehensive dataset to establish a baseline, continuously monitors incoming syslog data, and adjusts its latent space dimensions based on a complexity analysis within static and variable parameters. The real-time adaptation enables the model to maintain acute sensitivity to new and unusual data patterns, thereby improving anomaly detection.

Facilitating Smart Volume Levels For Audio Devices During An Online Teleconference, Shuangshuang Zhu, Yulei Zhao, Xinxing Zheng May 2024

Facilitating Smart Volume Levels For Audio Devices During An Online Teleconference, Shuangshuang Zhu, Yulei Zhao, Xinxing Zheng

Defensive Publications Series

During an online teleconference, participants may interact with each other through a variety of audio sources or devices. In some instances, a teleconference participant may switch between audio devices during a teleconference. Automatic gain control (AGC) functionality provided for clients of a teleconference system is typically designed to balance audio volume during a teleconference regardless of the audio device being used. However, AGC adjustments can be delayed for converging to a reasonable volume range. Proposed herein are techniques to address such issues by providing a volume matching table that can be used to provide optimal volume parameters for different audio …

Enhanced Observability And Analytics Platform For Troubleshooting Business Process Workflows, John Solomon Jebamani Asirvatham, Matthew P. Schuetze, Anna E. Min, Jaideep Padhye

Defensive Publications Series

Conventional observability and analytics platforms allow customers to track workflow performance and examine exceptions, but do not provide mechanisms through which users can conduct further analysis and investigation of potential workflow performance issues. Moreover, since conventional platforms do not distinguish between incomplete and slow journeys, users are not able to accurately identify the root cause of a performance issue. In order to address such issues, techniques are proposed herein to provide an enhanced digital observability and analytics platform that generates detailed analysis and visualization of business journeys and allows users to investigate potential reasons why a set of journeys did …

Detecting Missing Telemetry Data Collected From An Instrumented Application, Samudraneel Dasgupta, Lalit Prakash Vatsal, Tara Khoiwal

Defensive Publications Series

In an instrumented application, telemetry data may be collected and displayed. During transit from the instrumented application to an observability platform, the telemetry data may make multiple hops from service to service in a complex pipeline, which may lead to the loss of some telemetry data. Techniques described herein solve the telemetry data loss problem by detecting, pinpointing, and quantifying the loss of data. The techniques address specific use cases of telemetry, such as data sampling and batching. The techniques enable identification of problems at underlying collectors in the observability pipeline.

Method To Allow Scalability In Contention-Based Ranging, Qorvo, Inc. Apr 2024

Method To Allow Scalability In Contention-Based Ranging, Qorvo, Inc.

Defensive Publications Series

This solution allows the feature “contention-based ranging” to be scalable (i.e., to work properly regardless of the density of users), based on 3 complementary improvements:

1) By allowing only a subset of Responders to participate to a given ranging round, the Controller does not need to increase the number of slots in the CAP, as the density of users increases. This enables to maintain the same level of distance measurement accuracy, while limiting the risk of collisions.

2) The Controller may conversely increase the size of the CAP as much as desired, unlike in current FiRa specifications.

3) The Controller …

Selective Framing Of Multi-Video Feed On Conference Call, Hp Inc

Defensive Publications Series

This disclosure proposes a solution for the remote users in an online video conference with multiple camera setup to create a more inclusive hybrid work environment. Remote workers in hybrid meetings are at a disadvantage because they can't interact with people and objects in the same way as in-person workers. This can lead to reduced participation and engagement. Additionally, people naturally pay attention to different things at the same time, but video conferencing technology doesn't support this well. We propose a video conferencing solution that enables remote participants to select their desired view from multiple camera views and zoom in …
