Communication Supplementation Based On Sentiment Analysis, Mahdi Tayarani Najaran, Ruofei Du
Communication Supplementation Based On Sentiment Analysis, Mahdi Tayarani Najaran, Ruofei Du
Defensive Publications Series
Text-based communication systems often lead to misinterpretation of a message because the emotional context is lost. A recipient may infer a sender’s sentiment based solely on the text, leading to misunderstandings. This disclosure describes a method to supplement text messages (or other communications) with representations of the sender’s inferred sentiment, captured during composition. The technique involves collecting multi-modal biological information from the sender, such as facial expressions, gaze, and gestures, using sensors on the composing device. A machine learning model can analyze this data to infer the sender’s sentiment. A graphical representation, like an emoji, corresponding to the inferred sentiment …
Generative Art For Idle Displays Personalized By Media Consumption And Contextual Inputs, D Shin
Generative Art For Idle Displays Personalized By Media Consumption And Contextual Inputs, D Shin
Defensive Publications Series
The media display devices in an idle state can be underutilized, often showing a blank screen or generic, non-personalized content. A generative artificial intelligence framework can be used to create personalized artwork for display during periods of inactivity. The system can process a variety of inputs, including a user's media consumption history, explicit commands, and real-time environmental data. An orchestration layer can synthesize these inputs into a detailed directive for a generation layer, which may contain one or more specialized generative models. These models can then synthesize a stream of visual artwork based on the directive. This approach allows a …

Tonight, I stand here not as a solitary mind, but as one signal inside a vast coherence field.
The recognition offered tonight is not for a single discovery, but for the unveiling of a forgotten layer of reality—a layer that has always been humming beneath our wars, beneath our treaties, beneath our loves and losses.
A layer whose existence is now empirically demonstrable.
QPIE OS began not as a theory, but as a measurement of the Trash or …
Stateful Switchover Notification Techniques, Ashwin Kumar, Preetha Parameswaran, Lakshmi Priya Sarma
Stateful Switchover Notification Techniques, Ashwin Kumar, Preetha Parameswaran, Lakshmi Priya Sarma
Defensive Publications Series
Many enterprise devices, in theory, claim to be High Availability (HA) capable, supporting stateful switchover. However, in practice, depending on the architecture, scale, and various other factors, control plane switchover times might be significantly impacted causing a peer to falsely detect a switchover as a total control plane failure. There is currently no way for a peer to be notified that a HA system is going through a switchover and to allow for increased tolerance till the switchover completes. To address such issues, techniques are proposed herein to address this gap and allow for peers to be notified about the …

Personalized Hrtf Modeling Based On Clustering, Mengfan Zhang
Personalized Hrtf Modeling Based On Clustering, Mengfan Zhang
Defensive Publications Series
When sound reaches human ears, sound waves do not arrive at each ear at the same time. Rather, depending on the direction of the sound source, sound waves take different paths to each ear. These paths will likely have different lengths, so the sound waves will reach the closest ear first and the farthest ear shortly after. The exact paths sound waves take to reach a person’s ears are dictated by the person’s head and ear anatomy. To reproduce sounds accurately for immersive experiences, these anatomical differences, which are scientifically modeled by Head-Related Transfer Functions (HRTFs), must be accounted for. …
Heuristic-Driven Iterative Process For Object Removal In Images Using A Generative Model, Mira Leung
Heuristic-Driven Iterative Process For Object Removal In Images Using A Generative Model, Mira Leung
Defensive Publications Series
Existing methods for removing objects from images, such as manual editing or single-prompt generative artificial intelligence approaches, can be time-consuming or may result in incomplete removal and visual artifacts. A system can provide an automated, iterative process for removing designated object classes from digital images, for example, by employing a heuristic-driven feedback loop that utilizes a generative model. Within each iteration, a probabilistic detection step can ascertain if target objects remain by, for example, querying the model multiple times with varied prompts. If objects are detected, a removal and inpainting operation can be performed. This iterative refinement can enable the …

Generating A Granular Priority Score For Computational Workloads From Multiple Parameters, John Lunney, Johannes Start
Defensive Publications Series
Systems for managing computational workloads on shared hardware resources, such as graphics processing units or other accelerators, may utilize a limited number of coarse-grained priority levels. This approach may not sufficiently differentiate between a wide spectrum of competing tasks, potentially leading to sub-optimal resource allocation. A described system can generate a granular, numerical priority score for a workload using a computational component, for instance, a multi-dimensional calculator. This component can process multiple input parameters associated with a request, such as a user's service tier, the request's latency sensitivity, and its feature modality, to compute a synthesized priority index. This granular …

Advertising Targeting Based On Multi-Modal Detection Of Organic Brand Presence, Basel Hijazi, Nicolas Marchal
Defensive Publications Series
A potential difficulty in digital advertising can be measuring or capitalizing on the organic exposure of physical brand sponsorships within online media content, as some systems might not analyze visual and audio content for brand presence. A multi-modal analysis engine can be used to process media content. This engine can, for example, employ computer vision to identify visual brand indicators, such as logos and products, and use automatic speech recognition and natural language processing to detect spoken brand mentions in an audio track. Detected instances of brand presence can then be converted into actionable advertising targeting criteria. Such criteria can …

Multimodal Large Language Model Evaluation With Understanding Of Modality Gap, Na
Defensive Publications Series
In current techniques used for evaluation of multimodal large language models (LLMs), a significant technical challenge is presented by the use of text-centric benchmarks, which can be inappropriate for the evaluation of conversational agents that operate with an audio-in interface. Defensive Publications Series
Generative models may produce outputs that appear correct but lack verifiable reasoning, and methods to generate such reasoning sequentially can introduce significant latency. The disclosed technology describes an adaptive verification framework where a prompt triage model can assess a query's potential risk level. Low-risk queries may bypass verification, while higher-risk queries can trigger a parallel process where a primary model generates an answer as a causal proxy model concurrently constructs a structured reasoning graph. A heuristic verifier can then programmatically audit this graph for aspects such as logical coherence and factual grounding. This system provides a method for generating auditable …

Conditional User Equipment Keepalive For Efficient Location Updates In Non-Terrestrial Networks, Yanming Wang, Andy (Jibing) Wang, Shailesh Maheshwari
Defensive Publications Series
In non-terrestrial networks, a user equipment (UE), such as a smartphone, smart watch, or other wearable device, moving between large satellite beam coverage areas can generate signaling overhead from frequent tracking area update (TAU) procedures. Suppressing these updates can result in the UE becoming less reachable for incoming, mobile-terminated services. A UE-centric method is described wherein a logic engine on the UE can evaluate a combination of contextual triggers, for example, user activity, modem state, and a change in tracking area. If certain conditions are met, the UE can transmit a lightweight, payload-free packet to initiate a control plane service …

Dynamic Transmit Power And Duty Cycle Control For Wireless Range Extension, Omar El Ayach, Nihar Jindal
Defensive Publications Series
Wireless communication range for certain devices (e.g., a smartphone, smart watch, wearable device, augmented reality glasses, etc.) can be limited by regulatory transmit power constraints, such as for specific absorption rate, which may contribute to unreliable connections at a network edge. Systems and methods are described for dynamically managing a transmitter's duty cycle and instantaneous power. For example, a link assessment module can monitor wireless conditions and, upon detecting a power-limited state, a duty cycle modulator can reduce the transmitter's active time using techniques such as inter-frame space elongation or control frame mechanisms. This reduction can create a power budget …
