A Study Of Translation Of Relative Clauses From English Into Thai And From Thai Into English, Nattharath Leenakitti

This study examined translation strategies which were used in translating English relative clauses (ERCs) with the relativizers ‘who,’ ‘which,’ and ‘that’ into Thai and Thai relative clauses (TRCs) with the relativizers ‘/tʰîː/’ and ‘/sɯ̂ŋ/’ into English. In addition, the types of relative clauses, namely restrictive and non-restrictive, in English were investigated for their effects on the translation strategies in the English-Thai translation. The data comprised 714 sentence pairs whose source texts contained relative clauses. English-Thai translation consisted of 348 sentence pairs from two English novels and their Thai translations. Giving and receiving feedback is an important facet in developing writing. This study aimed to investigate different online interaction patterns during peer feedback activity and to examine how it could lead to students’ writing improvement. The study sample consisted of 30 first-year undergraduate students of Chulalongkorn University who were enrolled in a required foundation English course II. Subjects were classified into three writing proficiency levels using scores from an English writing proficiency test. The present study explored English vocabulary acquisition of L1 Thai learners. The lexical priming, which implies the lexical access, was examined to illustrate the vocabulary acquisition. The organization of the mental lexicon and the lexical processing of Thai learners were examined using the lexical priming experiments. This work aims to develop the treatment process for the removal of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) from DC by using the combination of air floatation and stirring processes, called Flotation Enhanced Stirred Tank (FEST). Initially, stirring, induced air flotation (IAF), and dissolved air flotation (DAF) are individually investigated over DC washing. Afterward, the combination process between “stirring-DAF” and “stirring-IAF-DAF” are continuously observed for finding the better conditions of TPH removal efficiency. This study examines the negative return characteristic of momentum strategy, also known as momentum crashes, in Stock Exchange of Thailand from January 2001 to December 2018. This study aims to answer one main question. Do momentum crashes exist in Stock Exchange of Thailand? The result show that momentum crashes do exist in Stock Exchange of Thailand, where momentum portfolio perform poorly during panic state, defined by period that market rebound from its decline with high volatility. This study evaluated carbon dioxide and nitrate utilization from tilapia cultivating system by means of microalgal cultivation. The first part of this study evaluated the feasibility of using nitrate-rich effluent from aquaculture to cultivate Scenedesmus armatus in comparison with the cultivation using BG-11 media. Comparable biomass productivity and pigment content of S. armatus from the cultivation indicated that nitrate-rich effluent from aquaculture could be used as substitute for a more expensive BG-11 growth media. This study examines the difference in the use of earnings management at family-controlled firms belonging to Korean large business groups (chaebol) versus non-chaebol firms belonging to Korean large business groups from 2002 to 2016. Firms belonging to large business groups are subject to similar regulations by authorities. This study also tests whether a divergence between voting rights and cash flow rights affects earnings management by controlling shareholders. This study examines both accrual-based earnings management (AEM) and real-activities earnings management (REM), using two measures of accrual-based earnings management and three measures of real-activities earnings management. This paper examines the effect of uncertainties that arises from U.S. presidential elections on emerging stock market liquidity over five period of elections from 2000 to 2016. The U.S. presidential elections created two uncertainties, which are political uncertainty and election uncertainty, before the election day. Traditional lending policy requires sufficient data for making lending decisions, therefore, some small companies could not access to the fund. In this study, we propose a decision making model that can decide whether to accept or reject a sequence of unfamiliar loan applications while having a limited budget. Our model does not have any knowledge about the incoming loans, therefore, it can predict the default probability with low accuracy at the beginning. Riceberry rice (Oryza sativa L.), is a crossbreed of Kao Hom Nin, a local non-glutinous purple rice and Khoa Dawk Mali 105. Its pigment contains high amount of antioxidant compounds, especially anthocyanins. Previously, riceberry rice exhibited its food application with high antioxidant activity. However, the potential of food application of riceberry rice extract (RBE) in yogurt and beverage products and its postprandial effect on humans remains unknown. However, the effects of long-term supplementation on general biological parameters in healthy adults is still insufficient. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of 12-week astaxanthin supplementation on blood glucose, lipid profile and hematological parameters in healthy volunteers. The aims of this research were to study the effect of different cooking conditions on bioactive compounds and biological activities of cooked adzuki beans and cooking water. The different encapsulation methods to entrap adzuki beans hydrolysate were investigated. The release characteristics of different freeze-dried alginate particles were investigated after in vitro simulated gastrointestinal digestion. The results showed that all cooking conditions (60-min boiling, 10-min autoclaving and 60-min autoclaving) caused a significant reduction in crude protein, TCA-soluble peptides, free amino groups, total phenolic content (TPC) and total flavonoid content (TFC) in cooked adzuki beans (p ≤ 0.05). Pilok and Takua Pit Thong mine were one of tin-tungsten mines associated with the Western Granitoid Belt. Despite the very poor condition of the outcrop, petrographic and geochemical studies reveal two granitoid units: porphyritic granite and equigranular granite, which show similar petrography characteristics except for tourmaline that appears only in equigranular granite, and their textures. Based on whole-rock geochemistry, porphyritic granite is ferroan to magnesian, alkalic, peraluminous granite whereas equigranular granite is ferroan to magnesian, alkali to alkali-calcic, peraluminous granite. Both granites show S-type affinity. The REE patterns show enrichment in LILE (e.g. K, Rb) and HFSE (e.g. Nb, Ta). …

The volcanic rocks at Khao Sam Sip, Sa Kaeo province is part of the Loei-Phetchabun-Sa Kaeo Volcanic Belt. Based on field observation, petrographic and geochemical studies, the rocks in the study area can be divided into four rock units namely, 1) Basalt-andesite unit, 2) Polymictic andesitic unit, 3) Epiclastic unit, and 4) Clastic unit. Unit 1 is the lowest unit in sequence consisting of olivine-pyroxene-plagioclase basalt, pyroxene basalt, hornblende-plagioclase andesite, and plagioclase andesite. The Suwan prospect is located about 6 km northwest of the Chatree gold mine in Phitsanulok province, central Thailand. Gold-silver mineralization occurs as veins and stockworks hosted in volcaniclastic and volcanogenic-sedimentary rocks of Late Permian- Early Triassic age which is classified as a low sulfidation epithermal deposit base on mineralization texture, alteration pattern and sulfide mineral assemblages. ถ่านหินและหินตะกอนจำนวน 31 ตัวอย่างจากแหล่งถ่านหินแม่ตีบและแหล่งถ่านหินแม่ทานที่ตั้งอยู่ในจังหวัดลำปางทางตอนเหนือของประเทศไทยถูกนำมาศึกษาลักษณะเฉพาะทางธรณีเคมีอินทรีย์ (Organic geochemistry) ผลจากการวิเคราะห์ปริมาณสารอินทรีย์ทั้งหมด (Total organic carbon) พบว่าตัวอย่างถ่านหินจากแหล่งแม่ตีบมีค่าระหว่าง 30.12 - 73.71 wt. % และสูงกว่าตัวอย่างถ่านหินของแหล่งแม่ทานซึ่งมีค่าระหว่าง 23.48 - 52.50 wt. % หินดินดานจากทั้งสองแหล่งมีค่าใกล้เคียงกันระหว่าง 4.82 - 19.49 wt. % ในแหล่งแม่ตีบ และ 14.00 - 24.87 wt. % ในแหล่งแม่ทาน ค่าที่น้อยที่สุดของปริมาณสารอินทรีย์ทั้งหมดปรากฏในตัวอย่างหินโคลนซึ่งมีค่าระหว่าง 0.88 – 4.92 wt. % ในแหล่งแม่ตีบ และค่าระหว่าง 0.59 – 5.98 wt. % การวิเคราะห์ปริมาณสารอินทรีย์ที่สกัดได้ (Extractable organic matter) ในตัวอย่างหินของแหล่งแม่ตีบมีค่าระหว่าง 1,277 - 9,764 ppm ในขณะที่ตัวอย่างหินของแหล่งแม่ทานมีค่ามากกว่าโดยอยู่ระหว่าง 1,256-16,421 ppm จากข้อมูลข้างต้นทั้งสองแหล่งมีศักยภาพการเป็นชั้นหินต้นกำเนิดของแหล่งปิโตรเลียมอยู่ในเกณฑ์ดีถึงดีเยี่ยมยกเว้นหินโคลนบางตัวอย่าง ข้อมูลลักษณะเฉพาะทางธรณีเคมีอินทรีย์ศึกษาจากแก๊สโครมาโตแกรม (Gas chromatogram) ได้มาจากการวิเคราะห์โดยใช้เครื่องมือแก๊สโครมาโตกราฟี-แมสสเปกโตมิเตอร์ (Gas chromatography-mass spectrometer) ซึ่งให้ข้อมูลของตัวชี้วัดทางชีวภาพ (Biomarker and non-biomarker) ที่มีประโยชน์ในการตีความทั้งระดับความพร้อมสมบูรณ์ (Maturity) ชนิดของอินทรีย์วัตถุ (Organic matter input) และสภาพแวดล้อมการสะสมตัวในอดีต (Depositional environment) ในการศึกษานี้ถ่านหินมีระดับความพร้อมสมบูรณ์เทียบเคียงกับระดับถ่านหิน (coal rank) อยู่ในระดับลิกไนต์ถึงบิทูมินัสสารระเหยสูงระดับซี (Lignite – high volatile bituminous C) อ้างอิงจากตัวชี้วัดความพร้อมสมบูรณ์ทางชีวภาพ (Biomarker maturity) ซึ่งบ่งชี้ว่าตัวอย่างหินมีระดับความพร้อมสมบูรณ์อยู่ในระดับตอนต้น (immature-early mature stage) แก๊สโครมาโตแกรมของแอลเคนสายตรง (n-alkanes) …

Tourmaline is a semi-precious stone that is quite popular in gem market. Red-purple tourmaline, so-called “Rubellite”, is particularly famous. Consequently, pink tourmalines have recently been enhanced by gamma radiation to intensify color as rubellite. In this study, an electron beam technique was applied for experimental treatment. Moreover, gamma ray irradiation was also applied to treat the same sample collection for comparison. The suid fossils were recorded in fluvial sediments at the Chaloem Phra Kiat and Phimai Districts, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. In this study, numerous suid fossils were identified systematically by the measurement and description in detail of the external morphology of teeth, and comparison with other related species. Sedimentary facies and facies association from stratigraphy of fluvial depositional environment from sandpits have also been studied. As a result, sediments from Chaloem Phra Kiat and Phimai sandpits comprise very fine to coarse-grained sand with dominate sedimentary structures of the fluvial deposits. In petroleum industry, wax deposition is a critical operational challenge. It occurs in various locations in the petroleum production chain including well tubing. Hexane, chemical inhibitor, is used to prevent the wax problem of oil from Fang oilfield by the measurement of pour point, wax appearance temperature (WAT) and wax deposition. An increasing shear rate can reduce WAT and the deposited amount increases with lowering the temperature in Fang crude oil.
