Pushout With Differentiated Dropping Queue Management For High-Speed Networks, Jui-Pin Yang Jul 2015

Pushout With Differentiated Dropping Queue Management For High-Speed Networks, Jui-Pin Yang

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Queue management is critical for high-performance and high-speed routers. Pushout scheme (PO) performs well in terms of buffer utilization and packet loss probability, but requires identifying the longest flow queue and executing frequent pushout operations whenever a packet arrives at a full buffer. Additionally, PO cannot effectively protect lightly loaded flows against bandwidth aggression from heavily loaded flows under bursty traffic conditions. To overcome the disadvantages of the PO, this study proposes a simple but efficient queue management scheme, namely pushout with differentiated dropping (PDD). PDD uses a weight function to estimate the weights of active flows based on their …

This paper proposes an aspect-oriented approach to modeling adaptive cyber physical system (CPS) using Petri nets. The core concerns of CPSs are described as device model and task model, and dynamic variations of system behaviors or environment conditions are extracted as crosscutting concerns. The models of runtime inspection as well as device adaptation and task adaptation are designed as aspects nets. For the device adaptation strategy, fault types are analyzed and the control loop concept is integrated to form the adaptation aspect model. For the task adaptation, a rescheduling method using PSO-Pareto algorithm to find the best solution of the …

On Fast Channel Polarization Of Double-Layer Binary Discrete Memoryless Channels, Wei Duan, Dazu Huang, Ying Guo, Moon Ho Lee

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Polar codes are linear codes which split input channels to increase its transition performance and provably achieve the capacity of symmetric binary discrete memoryless channels (B-DMC). The idea of Polar codes is related to the recursive construction of Reed-Muller codes on the basis of 2-order square matrix G2, can achieve the symmetric capacity of arbitrary binary-input discrete memoryless channels and to create from N independent copies of a B-DMC W, N different channels through a linear transformation. It has already been mentioned that in principle larger matrices can be employed to construct polar codes with better performances. In this paper …

A Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Approach Based On Todim And Choquet Integral Within A Multiset Hesitant Fuzzy Environment, Juan-Juan Peng, Jian-Qiang Wang, Huan Zhou, Xiao-Hong Chen

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Hesitant fuzzy sets (HFSs), which were generalized from fuzzy sets, constrain the membership degree of an element to be a set of possible values between zero and one; furthermore if two or more decision-makers select the same value, it is only counted once. However, a situation where the evaluation value is repeated several times differs from one where the value appears only once. Multiset hesitant fuzzy sets (MHFSs) can deal effectively with a case where some values are repeated more than once in an HFS. In this paper, the new comparison method and corresponding distance of multiset hesitant fuzzy elements …

An Efficient Ic-Lock Self-Reader Data Security In Cloud Computing, Min-Shiang Hwang, Cheng-Chi Lee, Pei-Shan Chung

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Recently, the concept of cloud computing is appearing, and the cloud storage service becomes a main issue because of its convenience and low storage cost. The cloud provides storage space service that cloud subscriber (or can be also called cloud user) can upload his/her own data and store it on cloud. However, the cloud is untrustful or semi-trustful. The cloud subscriber doesn’t want the cloud provider to know the information about the data. Therefore, serial researches discuss and propose several schemes to secure the data storage. In 2012, Liao proposed an IC-LOCK approach for the self-reader, which can let cloud …

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Web service is considered as one of computational resources available on network, which has become a popular paradigm to develop platform-independent applications. However, due to the diverse-grained, non-determinism, and timeliness natures of Web service, it is not surprising thatWeb-based service application frequently experiences problems, such as unreachable pages and reduced responsiveness. To address this problem, the primary task is to verify and testWeb engineering for trustworthy, in which the quantitative model generation of service behaviors plays a critical role during software life cycle, especially business processes verification. In this paper, navigation behaviors between Web application and users are formalized as …

Enhancement Of Qubit-Qubit Correlation Via Non- Resonance Two-Mode Raman Coupled Model By Applying Bang-Bang Pulses, M. S. Ateto Jul 2015

Enhancement Of Qubit-Qubit Correlation Via Non- Resonance Two-Mode Raman Coupled Model By Applying Bang-Bang Pulses, M. S. Ateto

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

The influence of a pulsed control on nonclassical correlation and entanglement is studied. To illustrate, a scheme of initially entangled noninteracting two qubits coupled independently to a couple of quantized field modes via a nonresonant Raman interaction has been proposed. Mainly, two types of measures are considered, namely, quantum discord and concurrence. We discuss how concurrence can play efficiently the same role as discord in absence of entanglement. Dynamics of states, initially, having ”X”- structure density matrix are studied to help in shedding light on this important role. We mainly focus on extended Werner-like states (EWL). We show that, for …

Hybrid Teleportation Between Qutrit And Qubit, Wei Yang, Liusheng Huang, Lu Li

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Previous quantum teleportation schemes mainly focus on teleporting the unknown state via entanglement state with the same dimension. In this paper, we study the problem of hybrid teleportation. We present a protocol for faithful teleportation of an unknown qutrit state using a special kind of four-qubit entanglement state. The construction of the special four-qubit entanglement state is described and the number of the qubits consumed in the protocol is shown to be minimal.

Here, in this paper, we use the integral transforms like Beta transform, Laplace transform, Mellin transform, Whittaker transforms, K-transform and Hankel transform to investigate certain interesting and (potentially) useful integral transforms the incomplete hypergeometric type functions pgq[z] and pGq[z]. Relevant connections of the various results presented here with those involving simpler and earlier ones are also pointed …

Practical Techniques For Ack Authentication In Ieee 802.15.4 Networks, Eun-Kyung Ryu, Kee-Young Yoo Jul 2015

Practical Techniques For Ack Authentication In Ieee 802.15.4 Networks, Eun-Kyung Ryu, Kee-Young Yoo

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

A secure acknowledgement (ACK) mechanism is essential to ensure reliable data transfer in wireless communication networks. However, because efficiency is the highest priority for resource-constrained settings, existing wireless security protocols tend to exclude integrity or confidentiality protection for ACK messages. This limits the use of ACKmechanisms for reliable communication. In this paper we describe our schemes for supporting ACK authentication in 802.15.4 networks. Our schemes do not require a pre-setup phase for the sharing of additional secrets and introduce no additional computation or communication overhead. They are practical for use and directly applicable to the 802.15.4 standard.

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Clustering data stream is an active research area that has recently emerged to discover knowledge from large amounts of continuously generated data. Several clustering algorithms have been proposed for static data. Nevertheless, data stream clustering imposes several challenges to be addressed, such as dealing with dynamic data that arrive in an online fashion, capable of performing fast and incremental processing of data objects, suitably addressing time and memory limitations, and how to handle the evolving patterns that are important characteristics of streaming data with dynamic distributions. In this paper, we propose an algorithm that extends Affinity Propagation (AP) to handle …

Priority-Aware Fair Queueing For Qos Provisioning In The Internet, Jui-Pin Yang Jul 2015

Priority-Aware Fair Queueing For Qos Provisioning In The Internet, Jui-Pin Yang

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Fair bandwidth sharing and differentiated drop precedence are two key QoS provisioning in the Internet. However, they both are studied separately. In the paper, we propose a simple active queue management scheme that deals with fair bandwidth sharing and differentiated drop precedence at the same time namely priority-aware fair queueing (PAFQ). PAFQ uses a dynamic threshold to keep up with traffic variations and hence it can efficiently discriminate non-aggressive flows from aggressive flows. Furthermore, a swap policy conditionally exchanges the records of current queue lengths of both compared packets from the same flow by considering respective drop precedence. Accordingly, this …

The bias and mean square error expressions of the proposed estimators are derived up to the first order of approximation. An empirical study has been carried out to compare the efficiency of proposed estimators with some available estimators in …

A Depth Specific Description Of Somewhat Homomorphic Encryption And Its Applications, Hyang-Sook Lee, Seongan Lim May 2015

A Depth Specific Description Of Somewhat Homomorphic Encryption And Its Applications, Hyang-Sook Lee, Seongan Lim

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this paper, we consider the depth-specific description of somewhat homomorphic encryption(SHE) schemes over integers. The ciphertexts of SHE scheme may have various forms depending on its encryption depth, and this makes the correctness check of the encryption scheme cumbersome. However, if one can present a SHE scheme depth-specifically, the correctness check is enough with depth-wise checks. We relate the homomorphic evaluation algorithms and binary operations on the set C of ciphertexts, and investigate what makes the depth-specific description is enough for a somewhat homomorphic encryption. We conclude that it is sufficient to have C with a ring-like structure with …

A Computational Tool For Some Boolean Partial Maps, Silvia M. Sanahuja

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

This work is devoted to constructing a deterministic finite automaton whose states are particular types of order-preserving Boolean partial maps introduced by Bisi and Chiaselotti. The domains of such maps are subsets of a finite poset equipped with an idempotent and antitone map. These maps can be identified with certain linear systems of real inequalities and this automaton provides a computational model useful for building the global extensions of such maps.

Weighted Exponential Distribution: Different Methods Of Estimations, Fatemah Alqallaf, M. E. Ghitany, Claudio Agostinelli

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

The aim of this paper is to compare through Monte Carlo simulations the finite sample properties of the estimates of the parameters of the weighted exponential distribution obtained by five estimation methods: maximum likelihood, moments, L-moments, ordinary least-squares, and weighted least-squares. The bias and mean-squared error are used as the criterion for comparison. The simulation study concludes that the last four estimation methods perform well and are highly competitive with the maximum likelihood method in small and large samples. This conclusion is also supported with the analysis of two real data sets.

A Temporo-Spatial Stochastic Model For Optimal Positioning Of Humanitarian Inventories For Disaster Relief Management, V. S. S. Yadavalli, E. Van Wyk, S. Udayabaskaran

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

A temporo-spatial stochastic model is formulated for analysing the problem of positioning of humanitarian relief centres for optimum disaster-relief management. Disasters occur in a line segment region of the real line according to a Poisson process. Two relief centres are positioned at two different points of the line segment for providing humanitarian relief to the disaster sites. The stationary mean rate of relief rendered by the two inventories is obtained. By optimizing the mean rate, the optimum positions of the two relief centres are obtained.

Auxiliary Domain Selection In Cross-Domain Collaborative Filtering, Chang Yi, Ming-Sheng Shang, Qian-Ming Zhang

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

The problem of data sparsity largely limits the accuracy of recommender systems in collaborative filtering model. To alleviate the problem, cross-domain collaborative filtering was proposed by harnessing the information from the auxiliary domains. Previous works mainly focused on improving the model of utilizing the auxiliary information yet little on the selection of auxiliary domains, although it is observed that the result of recommendation depends on the characteristics of auxiliary dataset. In this paper, we study the validity of cross-domain collaborative filtering by movie recommendation via different auxiliary domains of different movie genres. Through extensive experiments we find that the number …
