The goal of this study is to identify the most burdened New Mexico community water systems (CWSs) and publicly owned treatment works (POTWs) with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits to be able to provide them with technical assistance to address their issues, such as health-based and monitoring and reporting violations. Additionally, technical assistance can help them access federal or state funding to improve the infrastructure within their systems. The study evaluated multiple factors to determine the systems with the highest level of burden and reported the results as value numbers. The CWSs were evaluated on 10 factors that …

In 2022-2023, the Learning & Outreach Services (LORS) department within the University of New Mexico’s Libraries responded to post-pandemic challenges with a renewed focus on project-driven strategic planning, setting an annual goal to develop a LORS-specific assessment program. The LORS assessment team grappled with how to operationalize the literature on library assessment at a level that makes sense for a department of 12 librarians within a larger library organization. The LORS assessment team ultimately developed a consensus-driven, appropriately scaled assessment framework tailored for our department’s scope and context. Primary intraocular lymphoma (PIOL) is a rare form of primary central nervous system lymphoma that poses diagnostic challenges due to its nonspecific clinical features and complex imaging characteristics. This paper presents a focus case and two companion cases, highlighting the complexities in identifying and treating PIOL. In the focus case, A 66-year-old male experienced gradual painless vision loss with choroidal thickening on funduscopic exam and subsequent follow-up MRI. Trans-vitreal biopsy confirmed PIOL, and the patient was treated with intravitreal steroids and systemic rituximab without recurrence. Low-value healthcare services (LVHSs) are unsupported by current evidence, associated with harmful patient outcomes, and equate to over $100 billion in wasteful spending annually. The aims of this descriptive, comparative study were to establish baseline prevalence and costs associated with LVHS use among primary care nurse practitioners (NPs), and to test the influence of different geographical regions and patient populations. A secondary data analysis of the Merative™ MarketScan® 2021 databases was conducted. LVHS prevalence was lower or fairly equal to that of other studies, and direct claim costs were very-low cost. Electric load prediction (ELP) can support smart grid (SG) goals such as reliability and efficiency. In ELP, we predict the electricity demand at aggregated levels which is vital for the proper functioning of SG and keeping a balance between load and supply demand. ELP can be categorized as very short-term, short-term, medium-term, and long-term ELP. In this dissertation, we propose multi-output Gaussian processes (MOGP) for hourly day-ahead short-term ELP. We investigate different feature scaling techniques and prediction accuracy metrics with comprehensive details. Mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) is used as a prediction accuracy metric. Luis Jiménez’s Southwest Pietà (1984) intended to combat cultural amnesia that obscured Native Americans’ and Mexicans’ contributions to the state. Jiménez’s Pietà sought to counter the iconography that shaped New Mexico’s colonialist heritage. But Old Town Albuquerque shrouds Native American and Mexican contributions to the region. Albuquerque’s public art has often been deployed as a wedge to write and rewrite narratives about land inhabitants, but the city’s public art tells a powerful story about race and place in New Mexico.
