The Queer Body and the Obstructed Gaze: Chicanx Performance Artists and the Power of Self-Objectification
This article examines the ways in which four queer Chicanx performance artists have manipulated and obstructed the spectator’s gaze as a method for activating their abjection, performing self-objectification or fetishization, or asserting agency. As seminal Chicanx and queer performance artists, Luis Alfaro and Nao Bustamante set the stage for identity exploration through the corporeal and figurative display of excess: they invite in the spectator’s gaze to look at the queer brown body and challenge them to resist a reductive framing of their othered voluptuousness. In …

Cuba’s Potential Contribution to the Success of Chicano Students in the U.S.:
Directions to Decolonize the Raza Community
This exploratory paper examines the success of Cuba’s education system and the potential application of their education strategies to increase achievement among Chicano students in the U.S. While Chicanos remain one of our nation’s most underachieving ethnic groups, Cuba’s success in eradicating inequality in educational outcomes stands out among Latin American countries. Both Chicanos and Cubans have experienced a form of colonialism that poses a formidable barrier to educational success. Using a mixed methods approach that includes a review of scholarly literature …

This article provides for only a marginal update to the institutional context and complexity of Chican@ Studies in the US, so that we might better understand the need for comprehensive institutional history and its impact on the field as a discipline and as an Alter-Native curriculum framework for schooling. The question answered in this essay is “what is the 21st century institutional presence of Chicana & Chicano Studies in the schools?” focusing primarily on higher education, historicizing, contextualizing, and politicizing it. It describes the number and locations of undergraduate and graduate degree programs, administrative units, and, in part, relationships to …

Organizing And The Revitalization Of American Catholicism, Richard L. Wood
Organizing And The Revitalization Of American Catholicism, Richard L. Wood
Sociology Faculty and Staff Publications
American Catholicism today struggles to sustain its longtime character as a truly “public religion”—that is, a religious tradition with a vital presence within the public sphere in the US. Reinvigorating Catholicism in the US will require both internal renewal and new approaches to public life, both of which will require continuity with the deep tradition and significant reorientation of ecclesial dynamics. This paper argues that specific, faith-based community-organizing practices can help renew the public voice of Catholicism. In adopting such practices and inflecting them through Catholic commitment to theologically coherent processes of leadership formation, American Catholicism can reinvigorate parish life …
Self-Regulated Learning Perceptions Of Music Education Students, Edmund Strominger
Self-Regulated Learning Perceptions Of Music Education Students, Edmund Strominger
Music ETDs
I explored the self-regulated learning (SRL) perceptions and beliefs of pre-service music teachers in the United States. Through a quantitative survey, I investigated participants' SRL skills, their beliefs about students' SRL, and how these factors varied across gender, year in program, and primary area.
Pre-service music teachers possess high levels of SRL, particularly in motivation. However, their beliefs about SRL varied, with some believing it is crucial for student achievement while others downplayed its importance. Gender differences were observed, with female participants reporting lower learning dependency. Year in program and primary area had limited impact on SRL skills and beliefs. …
Improvement And Evaluation Of Multiple Imputation By Heckman's One-Step Mle For Binary Mnar Outcomes And Various Types Of Mar Covariates, Xin W. Shore
Mathematics & Statistics ETDs
Missing data is inevitable in clinical epidemiology. It becomes one of the major challenges in the analyses and can potentially undermine the validity of results and conclusions. Although methods for handling missing data with mechanisms of missing completely at random (MCAR) or missing at random (MAR) have been widely researched, methods adapted for the missing not at random (MNAR) mechanism are less studied. Galimard et al. (2018) have derived a method to use multiple imputation by Heckman's One-Step ML Estimation for binary MNAR outcome and continuous MAR covariates (MIHEml). This dissertation focuses on updating MIHEml in terms of …

Heptagonal Neutrosophic Quotient Mappings, Subasree R, Basarikodi K, Saeid Jafari, Subramanian K
Neutrosophic Sets and Systems
In 2023, [6] Kungumaraj et al. presented the Heptagonal Neurosophic Number and Heptagonal Neurosophic Topology. Heptagonal neutrosophic numbers are essential because they provide a powerful tool for representing and managing uncertainty in decision-making processes across various domains, offering a more nuanced and versatile approach compared to traditional fuzzy or intuitionistic fuzzy sets. Heptagonal neutrosophic methods differ from other neutrosophic methods primarily in the number of parameters they consider and their applications. Heptagonal neutrosophic numbers consider seven parameters, namely truth, falsity, indeterminacy, neutral, anti-neutral, extra-neutral, and pseudo-neutrality. By de-neutrosophication technique, heptagonal neutrosophic numbers transformed into a crisp neutrosophic values for better …
The Role Of Lacunary Statistical Convergence For Double Sequences In Neutrosophic Normed Spaces, Jenifer. P, Jeyaraman. M
The Role Of Lacunary Statistical Convergence For Double Sequences In Neutrosophic Normed Spaces, Jenifer. P, Jeyaraman. M
Neutrosophic Sets and Systems
This paper introduces and explores the concept of lacunary statistical convergence of double sequence within the framework neutrosophic normed spaces. Neutrosophic normed spaces extend classical normed spaces by incorporating neutrosophic numbers, which account for the inherent uncertainty, indeterminacy, and vagueness present in real - world data. The study begins by defining lacunary statistical convergence for double sequences in this extended context and proceeds to establish fundamental theorems and properties related to this new notion. In addition, we present a new idea in this context: statistical completeness. We demonstrate that, while neutrosophic normed space is statistically complete, it is not complete.
A Neutrosophic Approach For Breast Mass Detection In Digital Mammogram Images, Sofia Jennifer J, Kalaivani C
A Neutrosophic Approach For Breast Mass Detection In Digital Mammogram Images, Sofia Jennifer J, Kalaivani C
Neutrosophic Sets and Systems
Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer that affect women and yet there is no substantive cure. On early diagnosis of breast lesions with this size using mammogram would help the affected tumor patients have a good survival rate. Detecting cancer cells is a challenging task and hence we propose a single valued neutrosophic approach for segmenting breast tumor lesions in mammogram images. In this neutrosophic approach, the intensity values are represented as truth, indeterminacy and falsity membership in where the indeterminacy are noise, and the breast regions are the true and falsity values. The computations of these …

Multi Attribute Neutrosophic Optimization Technique Foroptimal Crop Selection In Ariyalur District, Angammal S, Hannah Grace G, Nivetha Martin, Florentin Smarandache
Neutrosophic Sets and Systems
Ranking crops is a vital part of sustainable farming practices. A deliberate strategy that incorporates multi-criteria decision-making is essential for achieving sustainability in agriculture. The process of choosing crops involves a lot of unknowns and unpredictable elements. The neutrosophic set, characterized by the three independent degrees of truth (T), falsity (F), and indeterminacy (I), is more adept at handling incomplete data. The current study combines single-valued multi-criteria neutrosophic programming with the TOPSIS approach to examine the crop selection process in the Ariyalur district. This study incorporated expert advice and a thorough literature analysis to identify the fundamental criteria for developing …

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems
In this paper, we introduce the neutrosophic I-convergent difference sequence spaces I(Y) (Δ)(f) and I0(Y) (Δ) (f) defined by modulus function. Also, we define an open ball B(x, ϵ, γ)(f) in neutrosophic norm space defined by modulus function. Furthermore, We construct new topological spaces and look into various topological aspects in neutrosophic I-convergent difference sequence spaces I(Y) (Δ)(f) and I0(Y) (Δ) (f) defined by modulus function

On Diminishing Fuzzy Neutrosophic Topological Spaces Over Nano Topology, Jansirani N, Vasugi T, Kamal Nasir V
Neutrosophic Sets and Systems
As an extension and also, a necessity to compute the indeterminacy, the concept of diminishing fuzzy sets is protracted to introduce the conception of diminishing fuzzy (single-valued) neutrosophic sets in the standard unit interval. In addition, the axioms of neutrosophic topological spaces are extended to config- ure the collection, diminishing fuzzy neutrosophic topology, and also, the basic theorems of nano topology is incorporated to the case of diminishing fuzzy neutrosophic set in terms of the approximation space and the boundary region by acquiring the same operators for the quantities, non-membership and indeterminacy are also discussed. Moreover, a nano continuous function …

C-Continuity, C-Compact And C-Separation Axioms Via Soft Sets, Hind Y. Saleh, Areen A. Salih
Neutrosophic Sets and Systems
This paper focuses on the concept of Sc-open sets as a generalization of classical c-open sets in topology. The reason behind introducing Sc-open sets is to overcome the limitations of traditional open sets in handling uncertainty and vagueness prevalent in decision-making processes. Moreover, the paper makes significant contributions to the discussion of the concepts of soft topological spaces (STS) by utilizing Sc-open sets that investigate the theoretical foundations and mathematical properties of Sc-open sets, exploring their relationships with other soft open sets and soft topological concepts. Overall, the paper aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of STS and their properties …

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems
The notion `Convexity' is applied in various areas of mathematics particularly in optimization tech- niques. It is known that this concept is applied in fuzzy sets, which is studied by many authors. This article deals with convexity utilized for neutrosophic and interval valued neutrosophic sets which is a generalization of intuitionistic fuzzy sets. Also some interesting preservation properties of convexity under intersection operators in interval valued neutrosophic sets are discussed. Adding to the discussion, preservation property of digital convexity under intersection using deformation and other techniques are touched upon. Eventually the appli- cation of convexity to decision making are illustrated …

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems
Industrial accidents pose significant risks to human lives, the environment, and economic stability. This study presents a comparative analysis of three plithogenic frameworks—Neutrosophic soft sets, Pythagorean neutrosophic soft sets, and Fermatean neutrosophic soft sets—aiming to model and analyze industrial accidents. The primary objective is to evaluate the effectiveness of these soft sets in handling the uncertainties, complexities, and imprecisions inherent in accident data. Utilizing Dhar's (2021) algorithm for Neutrosophic soft matrices, we introduce a new parameter called a risk score, which consolidates various values for each industry or parameter into a singular magnitude. Our findings indicate that neutrosophic soft sets …

A Study On (Λ − Μ) Zweier Sequences And Their Behaviour In Neutrosophic Normed Spaces, Vakeel A. Khan, Mohd Faisal
Neutrosophic Sets and Systems
Ideal convergence of sequences in neutrosophic normed spaces is defined by ¨Omer Ki¸si [12]. This paper defines new sequence spaces using the Zweier matrix and neutrosophic norm. We explore (λ, μ)-Zweier convergence, (λ, μ) ideal convergence of double sequences in neutrosophic norm. We show that a double sequence that is (λ, μ)-Zweier convergent or ideal convergent has a unique limit with respect to neutrosophic norm. Additionally, we prove that (λ, μ)-Zweier ideal convergence is equivalent to (λ, μ)-Zweier ideal Cauchy for a double sequence in neutrosophic normed space.

A Review On Recent Development Of Neutro-Topology, Bhimraj Basumatary
Neutrosophic Sets and Systems
Smarandache proposed NeutroAlgebra and AntiAlgebra. NeutroAlgebras and AntiAlgebras are a new research topic based on real-world scenarios. He investigated the concepts of neutro- and anti-structure. He demonstrated using NeutroAlgebra concepts that just because a statement is completely true in a classical Algebra does not imply that it is also completely true in a NeutroAlgebra or AntiAlgebra. It is determined by the operations and axioms on which it is based (whether they are completely true, partially true, totally false, or partially or completely indeterminate). This study examines the concepts of Generalised regular Neutro-Topological space and its properties.

The Study Of Neutrosophic Algebraic Structures And Itsapplication In Medical Science, Binu R, Paul Isaac
Neutrosophic Sets and Systems
Neutrosophic exact sequence and its construction is presented as algebraic structure in this article. A mathematical construction known as a neutrosophic exact sequence expands the implications of an exact sequence from classical algebra to the domain of neutrosophic sets. This work introduces a full description of neutrosophic exact sequence of R-modules as a structural preserving tools and discusses the fundamental features. Additionally we examine the role of beta level sets in neutrosophic sets and investigate the neutrosophic split exact sequence.
