Aminotri-n-propylarsonium chloride was originally prepared by Krannich (1) by the chloramination of tri-n-propylarsine. On the basis of infrared data, it was assumed that the compound was an aminoarsonium chloride salt. However, a pentavalent structure was also a possibility.

Temper embrittlement in low alloy steel is a phenomenon of reversible embrittlement occurring when a susceptible alloy is held in or slowly cooled through a temperature range of 1100 - 650 °F (13). Characteristics of this type of embrittlement are a reduction in notch toughness, an increase in the ductile-to-brittle transition temperature as measured by Charpy vee-notch impact tests, and a change in fracture mode from ductile transgranular to brittle intergranular.

A basic attribute of the human auditory system is its capacity for extracting information from an often complex acoustic environment. This concept is reflected in Ohm's acoustical law which holds that the ear is able to "hear out" the simple tonal components of a complex sound. Essentially, the ear has been thought to perform a Fourier analysis on the incoming waveform (Boring, 1942).

In the human retina the rods and cones are unevenly distributed, with the greatest density of photoreceptors being located at the fovea. A perceptual correlate of this anatomical distribution is that visual acuity (a measure of spatial resolution) is greatest at the fovea. Accordingly, one function of eye movements is to acquire visual targets for foveal viewing.

Hence S is an orthodox semigroup in the sense of Hall (3). Calcium complexes of polysaccharides that contain D-glucuronate residues have been implicated in such biological processes as calcium storage, calcification, and calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion. Actually "There are more police calls for family conflicts than for murders, aggravated batteries, and all other serious crimes." The problem of family disturbances is said to have an iceberg quality because such a large portion of the problem has remained below the level of public consciousness. Principle of General CovarianceSpecial relativity and classical mechanics share the principle of invariance of the laws of physics in all inertial reference frames. They differ in that the postulate of the constancy of the velocity of light holds in special relativity. On the other hand, the premise of general relativity is that the laws of physics be expressed in generally covariant equations. General covariance means that the equations expressing the laws have the same form for all reference frames. This thesis reports on a study of the effects of porosity on the high temperature creep characteristics of low-alloy steel weldments. The material selected for investigation was ASTM A387-D, a 2-1/4% Chromium - 1% 15 Molybdenum low-alloy steel. This material is used in the fabrication of nuclear and petro-chemical reactor vessels, steam generators, piping, valves, etc. in which the operating conditions are high temperatures, high pressures and large cross-sections.Porosity is the most common cause for weld rejection in all welded materials. This thesis contains the solution for the stress distribution and deflection in a flat circular plate with a circular hole under action of uniformly distributed radial bending moments applied over discrete zones at the outer boundary in an evenly spaced fashion. The solution was obtained from small-deflection plate theory as developed by LaGrange with the use of the boundary conditions formulated by Kirchhoff. A Fourier Series was used to represent the applied bending moments at the outer boundary.

In the first quarter of the nineteenth century American religion was in a state of ferment. The gaining of independence had brought changes to the political order which required organized religion to re-evaluate its position. Nearly all the traditional churches saw the need to develop national organizations. Some churches, most notably the Anglicans, were forced to make structural changes because they had been tightly bound to ecclesiastical authorities in England. West of the Appalachian Mountains, where the traditional churches were weak or nonexistent, reformers were unchallenged in the spread of new ideas.

The investigations reported in this thesis were concerned with the embryological development, the penetrance, and the expressivity in two strains of inbred mice of a mutant gene: Hypodactyly, whose principal manifestation is a numerical reduction of the hindlimb digits.In 1966, Hypodactyly (symbol Hd; linkage group XI) occurred spontaneously in the inbred strain MYA/Hu (Hummel, 1971). Since the strain was homozygous for another mutant gene which interfered with classification of the new mutant, Hypodactyly was transferred by outcrossing to unrelated normal animals for study of its inheritance and expression. Hypodactyly was inherited as a semi-dominant mutation with full penetrance. No maternal …

Metaphor is often employed in the formulation of new ideas. It is useful as a kind of expansion bridge which stretches between pre-existing concepts and original ideas still in the nebulous stage of formation. This is true when the theorist is creating new systems of thought and it is true when he is attempting to relate these new ways of viewing his subject to an interested audience.
