Literature reviews on the concept of poverty and local observation on the field study were employed to investigate who the poor are, in order to seek alternative policies according to specific local conditions to combat poverty, and to see local wisdom in a preventive effort to reduce poverty. Survey methodology, in-depth interviews and focus groups discussions were used in this study. The findings suggest that the concept of poverty is multifacet. Pada periode tahun 1989-1995, insiden demam berdarah di Indonesia berada pada kisaran 6-15 per 100.000 penduduk. Pada tahun 1998, dengan angka insidens demam berdarah meningkat tajam menjadi 35,19 per 100.000 penduduk dengan angka kematian (CFR) 2 %. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh penyuluhan terhadap perilaku. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di RW 12, Pondok Kelapa, Kecamatan Duren Sawit, Jakarta Timur, terhadap 227 respondent. Pada periode 2002-2006, di Kabupaten Lebak, API tergolong Middle Case Incidence (MCI), dengan nilai rata-rata (2.87%) dan berada pada kisaran 2.04-4.51%. Dari 35 wilayah kerja puskesmas terdapat enam wilayah endemis yang meliputi puskesmas Malimping, Binuangeun, Bayah, Cihara, Panggarangan dan Cilograng. Ada wilayah kerja puskesmas yang dilaporkan dengan klasifikasi MCI. Penderita positif malaria cenderung meningkat secara fluktuatif dengan puncak yang tidak jelas, kasus positif malaria tertingi ditemukan pada bulan Februari, Maret, Mei, Juli dan Desember. A research on the antibacterial activity of n-hexane extract and the ethyl acetate Garcinia rigida Miq. Bark against Salmonella typhosa ATCC 14028, Staphylo-coccus aureus ATCC 29213 dan Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633 has been carried out. The research was included the determination of the growth inhibition zona with the cylinder diffusion method and the minimum inhibitory concentration with the petri dish dilution method. On the basis of the theoretical notions of discursive ambience and ambient discourse, this article examines the recent history of language and ethnicity in Banyuwangi in the far east of Java. Over the last three decades (with roots going back to the 1920s and earlier) a redefinition of the language and culture of the "autochthonous" inhabitants of Banyuwangi has been occurring. In this essay we present three case studies of Peru, Jamaica and Indonesia to illustrate the use of the concept of race in daily life in relation to labour, popular culture and beauty respectively. These cases demonstrate how the use of the concept of race changes in the transition from a colonial into a postcolonial setting, depending on the role of the state and nation building. In Peru, we see a clear continuation of racialized thinking; thinking and speaking in terms of 'race' is still the norm. In Jamaica we find a process of inversion: the concept of race is …

Pada periode 2000-2002, penduduk Indonesia meningkat 1,25% atau 7,3 juta setiap tahun, sehingga pada tahun 2002 jumlah penduduk Indonesia menjadi sekitar 215 juta jiwa. Isolation of Cellulolytic Bacteria and Characterization of the Enzyme. Four of cellulolitic bacteria isolates had been characterized. The determination of cellulase activity was conducted at the highest production time, using crude enzymes with the modification of Miller methods (1959) on pure cellulose substrates such as CMC (Carboxymethyl cellulose), Avicel and Filter paper Whatman No. 1 as well as agriculture waste such as rice straw, corn cob and banana peel. Cellulase from C4-4, C5-1, C5-3 and C11-1 showed optimum activity at pH 5, 70°C, pH 3.5, 90°C, pH 5, 80°C and pH 8, 70°C, respectively. Avicel is a appropriate substrate for …

The Biodegradation of Phenanthren by Marine Bacteria Pseudomonas sp KalP3b22 from Kumai Central Borneo. The study of the potential marine bacteria that degrade Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) was already done among several marine bacterium isolated from the contaminated sea water collected in Kumai Port area. The biodegradation rate of phenanthrene by selected bacteria Pseudomonas sp Kalp-3b22 was 59,5% after 29 days cultivation. The structural determination of degradation product was deduced as 1-naphtalenol.

Screening for Inhibitor Bakteri for Pathogenic Bacteria in Groupers Culture in Banten and Lampung Waters. A research about screening of inhibitor bacteria for pathogenic bacteria in grouper culture was done during 2005 in Marine Microbiology Laboratory, Research Center for Oceanography LIPI. Inhibition test was done using paper disc method for three isolates of pathogenic bacteria in his research, they were: Vibrio harveyii, 9.2/Luka/TSA and 8.2/Luka/TSA. The result shows that from 39 isolates of inhibitor bacteria from Banten and 27 isolates of inhibitor bacteria from Lampung only two isolates showed inhibition effect to the growth of three isolates of pathogenic bacteria. …

Recently, several strains of microalgae have been studied as they contain high lipid content capable to be converted to biodiesel. Fresh water microalgae Chlorella vulgaris studied in this research was one of the proof as it contained high triacyl glyceride which made it a potential candidate for biodiesel production. Factors responsible for good growing of microalgae such as CO2 and nitrogen concentration were investigated. It was found that total lipid content was increased after exposing to media with not enough nitrogen concentration. Using bioaugmentation and biostimulation approach for contaminated soil bioremediation were investigated and implemented on field scale. We combine those approaches by culturing massively the petrophilic indigenous microorganisms from chronically contaminated soil enriched by mixed manure. Through these methods, bioremediation performance revealed promising results in removing the petroleum hydrocarbons comparatively using metabolite by product such as biosurfactant, specific enzymes and other extra-cellular product which are considered as a difficult task and will impact on cost increase.

Implementation of Web Cam as Motion Detector with DirectShow Interfacing. One of many ways to take control a web cam is by using DirectShow which is integrated in DirectX. DirectShow acts like an API therefore it is easier to use. Afterwards, web cam will be implemented to detect object’s motion as well as camera surveillance. The method is by comparing a reference image with other image which is taken lately. If there are differences between those image it means motion has been detected.

Angka Kematian Bayi (AKB) Indonesia masih yang tertinggi di ASEAN dengan penyebab utama kematian adalah penyakit infeksi saluran nafas dan diare yang dapat dicegah. Pencegahan dilakukan antara lain dengan pemberian ASI secara benar, termasuk inisiasi pemberian ASI dalam 30 menit pertama setelah lahir. Pemberian ASI segera dapat mempertahankan kadar hormon prolaktin dan mencegah pemberian makanan pralakteal. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui gambaran dan determinan pemberian ASI segera pada bayi baru lahir di Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Kabupaten Cianjur tahun 2007. Desain penelitian adalah potong lintang. Kota Tangerang berkembang cepat dengan angka pertumbuhan (1,94%) dan tingkat urbanisasi yang tinggi serta angka kejadian diare setiap tahun yang tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat kerawanan diare berdasarkan faktor fasilitas air bersih yang tersedia, rumah tangga sehat dan berperilaku hidup bersih dan sehat (PHBS), tempat umum dan pengelolaan makanan (TPUM) yang sehat, kepadatan penduduk, dan cakupan pelayanan kesehatan.
