This article examines factory outlet as a cultural phenomenon in Indonesia. It specifically focuses in the shift in FO meanings. In 1966 New Order regime imposed a regulation that demands Indonesian citizens of Chinese descendants to change their name with "Indonesian name" to accelerate the process of assimilation "foreign descendents" into Indonesian society. This article examines this practice of changing names by surveying the name of Chinese in the obituary section of mass media. The writer argues that the regulation allows the Chinese descendants to change their names in any way they find appropriate. In doing to, it expands the anthrophoneme deixis function in Indonesia.

Most of infrastructures using steel concrete to reinforce the strength of concrete. Steel concrete is so vulnerable to chemical compounds that can cause corrosion. It can happen due to the presence of chemical compounds in acid environment in low pH level. These chemical compounds are SO4 2-, Cl-, NO3 -. There are many swamp area in Indonesia. A polluted environment will influence the building age. The objective of this research was to find out the influence of corrosive chemicals within the sludge swamp area with the corrosion rate of steel concrete. Corrosion in steel concrete usually occur in acid area which contain of SO4 2-, Cl- and NO3 -. The research treatment used by emerging ST 37 and ST 60 within 60 days in ‘polluted’ sludge swamp area. Children’s books about Indonesia published in the United States 1960-1980. The purpose of this study was to look at the image of Indonesia as presented in children’s literature published in the United States. The study focused upon the evaluative tone and the accuracy with which people in Indonesia are portrayed. Nineteen books (seven fi ctions, eight non-fi ctions, and four folktales) about Indonesia published between 1960 and 1980 constituted the sample of this study. Contemporary postmodern culture is characterized by a diversity of cultural forms, the intensive use of high technology, and the multiple identities of its members. This study questions the ideological implications of these media and the construction of identities in contemporary society. Semi-synthesis of vanillin from eugenol can be divided into two step reactions namely, isomerization of eugenol into isoeugenol, and cleavage oxidation of isomerization product into expected reaction product (vanillin). In this work isomerization of eugenol or eugenyl acetate into isoeugenol or isoeugenyl acetate has been done via the following reactions: (1) Sigmatropic hydrogen (1,3) thermalic rearrangement reaction: direct heating of eugenol or eugenyl acetate at 220o C for 8 hours can produce 52.2% of isoeugenol or 65.7% of isoeugenyl acetate (both chemical yields are measured by means nmr-spectrometer), where products are viscose yellow-brownish liquid as mixture of unseparated starting material …

The University of Indonesia (UI), Gerhard Mercator University (GMU), the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) have agreed to cooperate as partners to develop a joint bachelor (3+1) and masters (1+1) degree, and collaborate in the research fi elds of multimedia- and internet-based learning and application level active networks. This paper describes the introduction of the Offshore Project and the extending of information technology applications to the partner institutions in this international cooperation which would very much enhance the operations of the new initiative in engineering education, which could provide students in far distance with more fl exible learning environment.
