In popular view, the term accountability generally refers to a wide spectrum of public expectations dealing with organizational performance, responsiveness, good governance, and even morality of government and nonprofit organizations. These expectations often include implicit performance criteria – related to obligations and responsibilities – that are subjectively interpreted and sometimes even contradictory. Productivity Spillovers From Foreign Direct Investment: What If Productivity Is No Longer A Black Box?, Tran Toan Thang

While the positive productivity spillover from Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to domestic owned firms in host countries is unequivocally emphasized in theory, the empirical evidence is contradictory. This paper, based on firm level data in Vietnam (enterprise census, 2000-2005), provides more inside on that. Using time-varying stochastic frontier approach, the study decomposed the change of productivity into technical change, technical efficiency change and scale efficiency change. The evidence from estimating the spillovers in each corresponding components suggest that horizontal FDI bring negative spillovers, mainly to technical change but positive spillovers to technical efficiency. Due to its geographical location, Indonesia shares border areas with at least ten neighbouring countries with which maritime boundaries must be settled. As of March 2011, Indonesia is yet to finalize its maritime boundaries with various States including Malaysia with which four maritime boundaries need to be settled: the Malacca Strait, the South China Sea, the Sulawesi Sea, and the Singapore Strait (off Tanjung Berakit). Nation as a cultural-psychological phenomenon is best understood in terms of how a sense of nationhood operates in order to construct social identities or a social imagination about the modern nation-state (Anderson 1983). Prevalensi sindrom metabolik (SM) di Indonesia (13,13%) tergolong tinggi dengan kecenderungan terus meningkat. Salah satu akibat SM adalah disfungsi endotel, sebagai awal penyakit kardiovaskuler yang diinduksi oleh stres oksidatif dan inflamatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi profil lipid, peroksidasi lipid, dan marker inflamasi pada wanita penderita SM di Purwokerto. Indonesia tercatat memiliki 304.787 penderita tuberkulosis yang menempatkannya pada peringkat ketiga terbanyak di dunia. In order to shorten the measurement time of biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), a BOD sensor based on yeast metabolism was developed. Local yeast, Indonesian Origin, Candida fukuyamaensis UICC Y-247, was used as a transducer. The yeast was immobilized as a thin film in agarose matrix with the auxiliary of Nafion® acting as the membrane for ion exchange process. The film was then attached to gold-modified glassy carbons and used as transducer on the working electrodes. The measurements were conducted by observing the depletion of glucose concentration using multipulse amperometric method and then converted to BOD values. Optimum condition was observed …

Lovastatin is an anti-cholesterol agent that was produced by Aspergillus terreus using solid state fermentation (SSF). During this fermentation process, sulochrin is also produced as an unwanted co-metabolite. However, our previous result showed that sulochrin had potential as antidiabetes because it is an inhibitor agent of α-glucosidase. In this paper, we reported our observation on lovastatin and sulochrin production pattern in relation with inhibitor α-glucosidase activity during eleven days fermentation of A. terreus koji (SSF) ethyl acetate extract. This paper describes a research toward the accuracy of floating-point values, and effort to reveal the real accuracy. The methods used in this research paper are assignment of values, assignment of value of arithmetic expressions, and output the values using floating-point value format that helps reveal the accuracy. The programming-tool used are Visual C# 9, Visual C++ 9, Java 5, and Visual BASIC 9. These tools run on top of Intel 80 x 86 hardware. The results show that 1*10-x cannot be accurately represented, and the approximate accuracy ranges only from 7 to 16 decimal digits.

This research aimed to study the inuence of the values of quick ratio, debt ratio, return-on-assets, inventory turnover, and assets turnover toward the net prot before tax in the food and beverage industries in Jakarta Stock Exchange in the year 2002-2006. The approach used is qualitative approach with double regression. The result shows that the variables of quick ratio, inventory turnover, assets turnover, return-on-assets signicantly inuence the prot before tax. The use of nancial ratio is proved to be benecial for prot management.

The aim of the research is to analyze how the service quality can affect customer’s satisfaction in shaping costumer’s loyalty. The research is quantitative and uses non-probability purposive sampling technique. The instrument of the research uses questionnaires which were analyzed with Structural Equation Modeling. The result of the research shows that the five dimensions, i.e. physical evidence, empathy, reliability, quickness, and guaranty positively affect the service quality. The research is descriptive and uses qualitative approach. The result of the research shows that the tax incentive policy for the donation given to research and development activities in Indonesia successfully increases the number of donations and therefore support the increase of innovative products of the research and development activities.

The aim of the research is to analyze the process of negotiation or power sharing, between the stake holders which entirely affects the reform process, and the bureaucracy restructuring in order to support the reform process and public service in the Jembrana Regency, Bali - especially in health insurance policy. The research is descriptive and uses qualitative approach with the method of field research. The result of the research shows there are two factors that affect the local government reform in Jembrana Regency, i.e. the strong political commitment from the Regent, and the establishment of a stable centripetal democracy model.
