Methods For Multisource Data Analysis In Remote Sensing, Jon Atli Bensdiktsson, Philip H. Swain
Methods For Multisource Data Analysis In Remote Sensing, Jon Atli Bensdiktsson, Philip H. Swain
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technical Reports
Methods for classifying remotely sensed data from multiple data sources are considered. Special interest is in general methods for multisource classification and three such approaches are considered: Dempster-Shafer theory, fuzzy set theory and statistical multisource analysis. Statistical multisource analysis is investigated further. To apply this method successfully it is necessary to characterize the "reliability" of each data source. Separability measures and classification accuracy are used to measure the reliability. These reliability measures are then associated with reliability factors included in the statistical multisource analysis. Experimental results are given for the application of statistical multisource analysis to multispectral scanner data where …

A Vectorized Source Algorithm For The Nodal Code Simulate-E, Charles A. Wemple
A Vectorized Source Algorithm For The Nodal Code Simulate-E, Charles A. Wemple
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technical Reports
A vectorized source algorithm was developed to replace the existing calculation in the nodal core neutronics code SIMULATE-E. The code was developed for applications to LWR fuel management and was coded for optimal performance on the CDC-6000 series scalar computers. The code was adapted to the CYBER 205 vector computer at Purdue University for use on the CYBER scalar processor. Several automatic vectorization methods were applied unsuccessfully to the source calculation subroutine. The vectorized version resulted in an improvement of 60-70% in the computational speed compared to the original scalar version with no loss in computational accuracy.

Contour Tracking With Force Feedback, Shaheen Ahmad
Contour Tracking With Force Feedback, Shaheen Ahmad
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technical Reports
In this paper we describe an algorithm to allow a manipulator to track a complex contour without having to teach or program any points on the contour. This is an important problem in many manufacturing situations, when a robot tool such as a deburring tool must follow a complex work piece contour. La such instances it is tedious to teach or program the manipulator to follow such contour additionally calibration of the manipulator or the workpart may be difficult. The algorithm we present has been experimentally demonstrated utilizing a force sensor, a five degree of freedom manipulator and a 68000 …

Mathematics For Visual Guidance Of Robots, Yiucheung Shiu, Shaheen Ahmad, Richard P. Paul
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technical Reports
Vision can be used to position a robot relative to a known object or a known environment in 3D. If the object has enough feature points, one view is sufficient for determining the relative position between the object and the camera, otherwise, multiple views are required. We discuss the mathematics of viewpoint determination, using a combination of calibration matrix decomposition and space resection. The combined method has low noise sensitivity and does not require knowledge of camera parameters. If the object does not have enough features, multiple views are required to determine its position and orientation; an example of this …
