Current legislation mandates that some parts of the European hotel industry implement intensity metrics and benchmarking systems to monitor its environmental impact for non-financial reporting purposes. Comprehending and optimizing resource consumption is crucial for enhancing sustainability and boosting operational efficiency. This research aims to develop intensity indicators to measure energy consumption relevant to the hotel industry and create a framework for efficient benchmarking clusters. Most studies that investigated the automated classification of construction incident reports relied on traditional machine learning approaches, line support vector machines, decision trees, and logistic regression. Those approaches, however, have limited capacity to capture rich contextual text information to inform predictions. Hispanic workers represent about one third of the total workforce of the construction industry in the United States. Nevertheless, this demographic has disproportionately higher rates of fatalities and injuries. Each year, over 300 Hispanic workers lose their lives due to construction related incidents. This study investigates the potential of large language models (LLMs) to enhance feedback generation for written assignments, with a focus on Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) projects. Through a systematized review of 70 studies, we identify key trends, including a predominance of structured (52.63%) and argumentative inputs (21.05%) and iterative feedback mechanisms (64.91%), which align with LEED’s criteria-driven workflows. However, gaps remain in addressing technical inputs (3.51%) and scalable automated feedback systems tailored to LEED-specific needs. While small group learning through engineering design activities has been shown to enhance student achievement, motivation, and problem-solving skills, much of the existing research in this area focuses on undergraduate engineering education. Therefore, this study examines how small-group interactions influence design decisions within a sixth-grade engineering design-based English Language Arts unit for multilingual learners. Mastering the alphabet is a foundational step in learning to read; yet not all letters are equally easy for children to learn. This research brief explores the cognitive and perceptual factors that influence letter name and sound acquisition, including familiarity through personal relevance (e.g., letters in a child’s name), visual distinctiveness, memory accessibility, and confusability. This mixed-methods study sought to better understand how confidence in writing and race interact as factors within writing centers. Students utilizing our writing center were asked to provide data about racial identity and writing confidence both when registering with the writing center and when completing postsession surveys. From this data, we interviewed a racially representative pool of respondents to better understand their definitions of confidence and the identity factors that have shaped their confidence in writing. Our survey data showed that students’ confidence increased significantly as a result of a writing center session, replicating previous writing center research. Furthermore, we …

In this essay, I suggest that we should embrace generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) writing tools, particularly chatbots (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude), because they can enable linguistic equity by leveling the academic playing field for English as an additional language students. As writing experts, we can find ways to use this technology to enhance learning, and, since we know both student and faculty positions, we can help develop policies so such tools can be used effectively and ethically. Alternatively, we can ignore them and risk becoming irrelevant.

This essay explores the theory of historical imperative as a foundational framework for understanding Korean unification. It argues that Korea's unique and continuous national identity, resilience against external invasions, and modern aspirations for unity make unification an inevitable outcome of historical forces. The discussion highlights Korea's 5,000-year historical narrative, incorporating both documented dynastic transitions and the foundational Dangun legend (2333 BCE).
