The target group for this practicum was 17 community college students. The problem for this practicum is that many students are unable to communicate through writing due to a lack of ability to stay on task or grasp the writing process, resulting in low final grade scores for those students. The solution strategy, a unique approach entitled "Type" Writing," involved pre- and post-surveys with classroom methods and writing assignments keyed to the learning types of the students as identified using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. The students who completed the program experienced improved writing skill growth as shown by pre- and …

Because of a significant reduction in income from one funding source, it became necessary for the child care agency to look for other sources of income. By expanding the funding base, the child care agency would improve their financial stability and program longevity.
The author found grants to be a good source of income available to not-for-profit corporations. Grant funds would be an additional funding base for the child care agency, although grant applications seemed complicated. Literature encouraged agency staff to write their own proposals and comment language.
A grant application was submitted to the agency for funding as the …

The second goal centered around increasing individualized reading nurturing time for children in their homes by providing families with opportunities for shared reading experiences. A third goal aimed toward involving the community in assisting with preschoolers' literacy development.
To solve the problem, the writer/practitioner solicited the …
